In the latest issue of the Epitaph, the good folks of Tombstone got to read all about how local law enforcement officers believed Dr. Eldrich Davies to be responsible for the grisly murder of dancehall girl Arlene Gates. The newspaper sensationally referred to Eldrich as “Doctor Death,” further branding him as a murderer in the minds of the city’s populace.
EpitaphAbout an hour after the newspaper had been released, a drunken mob began organizing at the Occidental Saloon. It then carried down the street to the jail house, where Davies had already checked himself in for fear of death at the hands of vigilantes.
