The Earp brothers slept overnight in the jail house to ensure Davies’ safety. Doc left to go play cards and “do some fornicating.” Bright and early the next morning, Ike Clanton and a few of his cowboys came riding in for Curly Bill. As was generally the case, Ike was in a foul-tempered mood. Having already knocked and been allowed into the jail house, he inquired about Curly Bill’s situation.
