Dean’s eyes rake over my body, taking me in. He repeats himself, softer this time. “You’re looking for Hunter.” He didn’t say it like a question, and the certainty in his voice made me shuffle on my feet with hesitance. I open my mouth to deny it again, but something about his tone makes the words falter before they leave my lips. I shrug instead, hoping it passes as casual. “I’m not looking for anyone.” Dean stares for more moments, and a few more beats pass before he lets out a noncommittal grunt. He doesn’t argue, and instead just nods once, like he’s trying to hold himself back from saying something. Dean takes a step forward, his movement sharp and filled with intent.
