Steve had been laying low for several months in Miami. He was trying to stay out of the crosshairs of law school administrators. Even Jane was surprised that she had not received a complaint from Steve in a month. Steve was spending his time reading books about criminal profiling, serial killers, and crime scene investigation. He taught his classes with the usual vigor, but the student torturing was kept to a minimum—at least for the interim. After several months of laying low, Steve felt the urge to kill.
