Not even a scalpel could slice through the stunned silence.
As I sat there frozen, I wanted to ask the Alpha to repeat what he’d just said. And I wish I could be certain my kids would never ask something like that but they’d asked something similar to that once. Then, I thought I had managed to quench their curiosity but that might have just been in my head after all.
