Who Is That Guy?
Mirabel's POV I woke up when I heard my alarm ringing, disturbing me from my sleep. "Argh!" I stretched my body and then rolled from one side to another on the bed, knocking down the alarm that was beside me. Then I dozed off to sleep again, forgetting I had a very important interview today. I woke up when the sun's rays broke in, along with the noise in my neighbourhood. I opened my eyes and murmured, feeling frustrated, "Oh my God, I've overslept already!" "Hah, why, oh no," I said out loud, hitting my head. "This is not what I should be doing right now," I mumbled to myself. I gasped when I looked at the clock on the wall. It was 8 o'clock, and the interview started at 8:30 a.m. "Oh my God!" I quickly ran to the bathroom, bathed, then returned to my bedroom and put on black free trousers with a white top. Then I put on my black high heels. I stared at myself in the mirror, and as usual I looked pretty even without makeup, but I still applied red lipstick so I could look more mature, and tied my hair into a ponytail. With that done, I prepared a cup of tea for myself, since I was already too late to make food. I quickly grabbed my purse as I heard a knock on the door. It had to be George and no one else, so I hurried out to meet him. "Woah, you're already dressed that company would have to hire you, or they'd be losing a precious jewel," George said as he got into the car. I just smiled at his joke and joined him in the car, since he insisted on giving me a ride, saying he couldn't let me take a cab, they're dangerous, this and that. Well, I couldn't argue with him; he always acted like an overprotective older brother. But really, we were just close friends. "So, how was your night?" George asked, glancing at me. "Fine. Now I'm late, can't you see?" I snapped at him. It was good that he cared, but not right now. I was angry with myself for being late to an interview. How would my first day at work go after this? "Hah," I sighed angrily. "Alright, but I didn't tell you to wake up late either. Cool your temper, we'll get there before the interview starts. So don't worry, okay?" he said, and I only rolled my eyes. As soon as we reached the company, I was taken aback at the sight of the building. It was so big, sparkling, and enticing it just screamed wealth, making me breathless. "Oh my God!" I just hoped they'd hire me. I really needed this job. I bid George goodbye, then entered the company and joined the queue, hoping they hadn't called my name yet. "Mirabel Steve," a man called from inside the office. I nervously stepped in. "Yes, sir," I said, bowing my head as he gave me a nod and asked me to sit. After the interview, they asked me to wait for about an hour. I sat waiting patiently. After a while, a man tapped me and told me to go in. I went in, and after some questioning, the interviewer told me I could begin the next day. As I stepped out of the office, I was filled with joy. At least I could work for myself instead of relying on George. I was really tired of staying at home doing nothing. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and bumped into someone, a tall guy, I could tell from his muscular chest. "I'm sorry," I said, looking up to meet his cold gaze. Then I realized I'd knocked his phone out of his hand. Anyway, it wasn't my fault. Why would he be on his phone in the middle of the road? He should have been the one apologizing. I picked up his phone and handed it to him. He snatched it out of my hand. Then he snapped, "Why don't you just focus on where you're going? Are you blind?" I was actually taken aback. Wow, so rude! "And why are you on your phone in the middle of the road? We both bumped into each other, so stop making it seem like I bumped into you first. By the way, I take back my apology, since you're too rude to even say sorry or say something decent. Hah, I hate guys like you." I said this, feeling frustrated and angered by his behavior. Who did he think he was? Hmph! Even though he was handsome, that didn't give him the right to act like a god. "Seems like you hate your job, hmm?" he said, and with that, he walked away. Wait, what? What did he just say? Oh my God! "Hey, wait! What did you say?" I shouted, but he didn't turn around, so I ran after him but by then he had already stepped into the elevator. "Argh, what have I done?" I muttered frustratedly, noticing that people were already staring at me. I couldn't help but leave the company feeling utterly embarrassed. "Seriously, who is that guy? I don't want to lose my job. Oh God, what have I gotten myself into?" I called a cab to take me to my apartment, since George wouldn't be home early and I couldn't wait until he was back. As soon as I got home, I pulled off my clothes and turned on the shower. Hah, so refreshing. Today had been so stressful, and with that guy I'd met at the company, I couldn't help but feel worried. "Argh." I really needed to learn how to control my temper but who on earth was that guy? He didn't look like an ordinary employee. "Hah, this is really annoying," I groaned as I changed into my pajamas and lay on the bed to rest.
