On the way to Moonlight Pack
Calvin's POV
I love road trips, infact going out and driving alone is one thing I could do all the time. Constantly being boxed up in the office makes me anxious and sweaty.
My phone rings in its place, thanks to technology I just press a button on my car to answer the call.
"Calvin Otto, Hello" I say with an upbeat tone.
"Mr Otto I've emailed you the latest reports on the Moonlight Pack and its yearly production." Great news I have to know if these people have been keeping up to our agreements.
"Thank you so much Zandy, take the rest of the day off." I drop the call and continue on my drive.
"Ohhh this is my Jam...." I increase the volume and start to sing along.
"Oops, I did it again
I played with your heart, got lost in the game
Oh baby, baby
Oops, you think I'm in love
That I'm sent from above
I'm not that innocent
You see my problem is this
I'm dreaming away
Wishing that heroes, they truly exist
I cry, watching the days
Can't you see I'm a fool in so many ways
But to lose all my senses
That is just so typically me
Oh baby, oh"
Anyone who would see me now would wonder why I feel so safe driving such long distances alone. My car is reinforced with the best in bulletproof protection. Ofcourse manufactured by my people Otto Industries Incorporated. We have deals with other states and their small towns to create some of our goods there for their people. No, I don't trust this pack and their King Lionel is a prick. He doesn't care about anything but his benefit. Most of the smaller towns in his care suffer a great deal, but ofcourse I can't say anything.
He was never in line to inherit the throne though, the true Heir disappeared after his parents were gunned down on their coronation day.
The rain seemed to have died down a bit since I entered the state... I rolled down the window for some fresh air. This place obviously wasn't as beautiful as mines but it was alright.
I took the overpass on the other side of the river, the water was refreshing. My wolf suddenly woke up.
"Hey Aragorn You missed most of the drive," he yawns.
"You know car rides make me sleepy," I chuckled he still sounds sleepy even with the four hour nap he just took.
Just then I was hit by the most beautiful smell, Aragorn began sniffing around.
"Stop the car Calvin," I kept driving.
"I know you heard me Otto stop the Car!" I brought the car to a hault in the middle of the road.
"Now get out, I've been waiting for this for long." The old dog was smirking.
"What if it's the flowers?" he laughed at me so hard rolling even.
"There are no flowers that smell like that, she smells like Vanilla and ground coffee." I can't lie the smell was intoxicating. We didn't see anyone nearby, so we had to go down to the river and there she was right by the embankment not far off.
"Grrrrr! She smells amazing, We've finally found our mate." he was jumping, excited and happy.
"Yes and unfortunately she's from this Pack." Aragon began to sulk.
"It's not the Pack that matters, it's the heart and the character." I rolled my eyes, yeahh said a die hard romantic.
As we got closer to her, I saw blood. My rage started to mount up. I went closer and checked her pulse.
"She's still alive," I picked her up. Despite her disheveled and torn clothing she was somewhat warm. Her wounds had started to heal, especially the gash on the head.
Aragorn growled angrily, "Who would do this to such a beautiful girl?" I sighed, such a young beautiful girl indeed and she was my mate. Something kept pulling at me as I looked at her. A mark on the side of her neck. It can't be... Only one family had that mark in all of history. I walked up the small hill to my car.
Aragorn was weirdly quiet, his excitement had died down.
"What are you thinking?" he growled.
"Whoever did this to her will pay." They certainly will, she was so delicate yet thick. The tight jeans and baggy hoody couldn't hide her beauty even if she tried. I got in the car and called my doctor James.
"Mr Otto what can I do for you?" I need to choose my words. I don't want to cause panic.
"James there's a girl here at the Pack and they say, she's unconscious. She doesn't seem to be waking up but her wounds are healing." I heard some shuffling and doors being opened then closed.
"Sir is she still alive?" he asks
"Yes James she's alive," he sighed and took a minute before asking something else.
"What are the nature of her wounds?" I pursed my lips in thought.
"They say she was attacked, she has visible wolf scar marks." I sounded a little chocked up.
"Well sir, if you could bring her back I'd examine her but that's up to you. She could be unconscious because of her healing process."
I sighed and thanked him. The road was dreary now, the music was dead. I couldn't go home without confronting them about this mysterious girl.
I hated getting sunken into my thoughts cause all that meant was emotions and anger. I wouldn't be able to do my job as clearly as I should.
I arrived at the Alpha's pack office. Everyone was running around looking busy as ever. I got out and there were two men waiting for me by the door.
"King Calvinnnn what a.. a.. a.. a... aan Honor it is to meet you." he stammered a bit his hand shaking as he reached out for a shake.
I responded in like and he turned around to lead the way to the office. As I entered the office The Alpha looked at me up and down.
"King Calvin, is something the matter? Your shirt it's wet." I didn't even notice.
"Actually, I picked up an unconscious girl on the way here. I was wondering if she wasn't any of your people?" his eyes perked up in curiosity.
"I'm sure it was a rogue, I promise you all my pack members are accounted for," he moved his hands to the back and sat down so awkwardly it seemed he was hiding something.
"Shall we get down to business?" he says eyeing the chair infront of his desk.
A young girl came and gave each of us Documents that were prepared.
I went through them, reading every inch of the contract and financial statements as well as production reports.
"As you can see everything is well and on Par." I nodded in agreement but it seemed they'd been hiring more workers and paying them little to nothing.
"Is there perhaps something you'd like to ask Alpha?" he shuffled in his seat as he inched forward.
"Well as I'm sure you've seen that we've hired more workers to increase production and Economic growth. I was wondering if you could talk to the King and increase our Funding as well?"
I chuckled, every single one of these leaders here in the State wants more money.
"Deliver my goods on time and I'll put in a word for you," I say standing up. I didn't want to be in this place any longer. It urked me, something here wasn't right and I couldn't seem to shake off the feeling.
I had been suppressing Aragorn long enough that as soon as I was in the car he burst with anger.
"He denied her?! How could he?! What sort of a people are these?" I took a few deep breaths before I could start the car.
"Perhaps he wasn't lying but we'll get to the bottom of it."
As I glanced back at her in the mirror she looked so peaceful and pale.
Where could she have come from? What happened to her? And where had she been all along? I started the engine and drove out of the premises. The music was not even entertaining me. The rain was coming back and heavily. Aragorn seemed to join our guest and fell asleep.
I couldn't help but stare, her thick eyebrows, her plump lips. She looks like she fell from heaven. I focused on the road and changed the music. Maybe I need some Rap to get my mind of things. In no time we had arrived back at Fairview Valley.
I opened the door and picked her up. Her hair brushing against my arms, I wonder if it brightened her eyes when she was awake?
As I entered the Hospital, the nurses quickly ran to my aid but I refused.
Aragorn kept insisting that we can't trust anyone with our mate. I went to Dr James Office in which he then took me and let me to a private ward of the hospital.
"You can lay her down my King," So formal I don't like that, but it's who I am and now is not the time.
"Please keep her in this private ward and allow no visitors. I'll come by to check on her." the doctor nodded and began to check up on her.
"I don't want us to leave her alone," Aragorn was sulking.
"I have a state to run remember?" he sulked even more.
"She's the future Queen, I think the state can make an exception." he said firmly.
"Let's let the doctor do his work, we will come back to see her." He growled lowly but agreed in the end.
I went back to my house, everyone was busy with their jobs. I guess they're used to me popping in and out now.
I went upstairs to take a shower and hopefully come down to eat. As I descended the steps I couldn't get the image of her out of my mind. I envisioned her walking through those doors. Coming back from training.
"She's definitely beautiful isn't she?" Arghhh Aragorn. I walked to the kitchen and browsed the fridge.
"What do you wanna eat Boy?" asking Aragorn is almost always tricky, have you ever heard of a wolf with an expensive palate? Well here he is and all the food goes into my stomach.
"Caviar...." he says excitedly.
I sigh, I don't know how to make caviar. Those Alpha's and Kings ruined this one for me.
"I don't have that nor do i know how to make that," I opened the freezer and pulled out two porter house steaks.
"Steak and parmesan mash potatoes," Aragorn rolled his eyes dramatically.
"Who taught you that?" he growls playfully.
"You did Calvin," As if on Cue I proceed to roll my eyes too.
Yes I have a chef but I hardly make use of her. She mostly works in the Pack centre for the young wolves. I love being able to cook my own meal. It's therapeutic for me.
"You mean after what happened last time?" Aragorn invaded my thoughts.
"Yes, that's what I mean."
After almost dying from a deadly dose of wolfsbane and Aconite I prefer to make my own meals.
You see I'm a lycanthrope and killing me isn't as easy as it seems. I'm ten times stronger than a normal wolf and ten times faster.
It happened last year when my father stepped down from the throne to have me take the crown. We had an intimate dinner with nearby Kings and their families to have anyone of them be my Queen but alas I was poisoned instead by food cooked by the chef. He never revealed who had hired him but I suspect a few people.
"You have to tell them you met your mate," There goes Aragorn again... I won't lie I'm happy I've met my mate, but we have to solve the issue of her identity first.
"What if she rejects us?" Aragorn began to sulk.
With my mother and father away, touring the world. Loneliness had seemed to seep into my life. Spending my days doing pack business, training, cooking or reading a book was my daily routine.
But now the fact that she's here and so near, I have hope. The thought of her beside me, fills me with so much joy and excitement.
After dinner I went back to the hospital to see how everything was going.
The doctor informed me that she's healing well and quickly too. The nurse gave me the clothes she was wearing and something that looked like a diary.
"Thank you." I sat in the hospital room and looked at her. So peaceful, so silent.
Her vanilla aroma radiating towards my nostrils. It was driving me wild.
I took her torn clothes and left with them, I need to buy her new clothes obviously and perhaps some washing essentials. What do women use?
This is the disadvantage of not having any sisters. Infact no siblings at all. I'd like to have a big family, more than five kids if my wife desires.
"Your wife?!" Aragorn asks in shock.
"Yes my wife Aragorn," he prances around prideful.
"I thought you were worried she'd reject us?" he asks with his teeth shining out.
"You really have to lay low on protruding into my thoughts," people probably think I'm crazy walking around the mall like this.
"I'm your wolf, a part of you. Inside you so that won't happen." he's so happy about that. He's the bestest friend I could wish for though.
Three weeks went by smoothly, my parents were back home and I tried to explain to them how she hasn't even woken up and I don't know if she'll even want to stay.
"Come on Cal, you have to be hopeful. You know how rarely Lycans get mated to someone by the fates," I sighed my father is right. Normally we get into arranged marriages that would be beneficial for the kingdom.
"So trust fate, and fight for her." I nodded in agreement.
"Your father is right," that was my mother her heels clicking on the tiling announcing her entry.
"Show her she's safe and how much she means to you. From what you've mentioned she's already been through alot." she sat on my father's lap and put her arm around him. Such a beautiful union.
Suddenly my phone rang, "Mr Otto, the patient is awake now." I'd felt my breath hitch in my throat. The excitement and fear left me grounded and shocked.
"Come on let's go," Aragorn kept nudging at me.
"Son what's up?" my parents not knowing then shook me in my seat.
"The doctor says she's awake." My mother stood and clasped her hands together.
"That's wonderful news, Ohh my goodness go and see her go on we'll be fine." I stood up immediately and went to take a shower and dress up. I grabbed my keys and then drove off to the hospital.
When I entered the nurses were staring at me, visible side glances all the way to the room.
I found her eating a fruit bowl and talking to one of the nurses. She looked so beautiful in that hoodie.
"Mr Otto, glad you could make it." James had shown up behind me, startling me a bit.
"She's doing well, although she had a seizure she seems to have recovered greatly." I nod and thank him for his service.
"Can he finish already I want to see her," Aragorn can't wait and neither can I.
"I'd like to see her," He looks at me a little amused.
"Yes, uhmn you can go right in that room. Please call if you need anything else." he stood back at the door as I entered her room.
Her silver eyes, her dark her and pale skin, I thought it was a result of her accident but no. It's who she is.
"HI... I'm Calvin Otto." I brought out my hand for a shake and she curled into a ball of tears.
