Daciana's pov
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words left my mouth. I blinked the tears back as I closed my mouth.
“Follow me” His voice called out. “This will be your room. And oh, don't expect me to go easy on you. The Alpha might be smitten by you but I'll never forget what your pack did.”
I bent my head in guilt but anger boiled in my veins, I lost my dad that night too. I couldn't even blame him. My loss probably meant nothing.
“Be out in five,” he ordered, and I frowned. I was supposed to rest.
He pushed me to the room and closed the door, walking away. I took a look at myself in the mirror and could barely recognize myself, my hair had dirt caked in them and my face was a mess, with make-up cakes at the corners of my eyes. Who would have thought that I would be in this position?
Dad was gone. I was stuck with just his memories, every part of his perfect soul had left this earth and he would never ever come back. For the first time in days, possibly weeks, I let out a horrible gut wrenching sob.
My body shook with the pain of everything that had happened within he past few days. I sobbed for everything I loved that had been taken away from me. Taken, all because someone couldn't keep it in his pant.
I was broken beyond repair. No fixing me. There was no bringing back the light.
My tears dried up along with any sadness that lingered. The only thing I felt now was all consuming madness. It was so much easier to be angry than to drown in pain.
I hurried to the bathroom, allowing the water drum on my skin. I didn't think anything could feel so good. I scrubbed all the filth away so hard that my skin was turning red. I managed to slip on one of the dresses that were in the wardrobe. I was already considering telling Freki that I wanted to join the warrior squad if they had one. That was the only dream that was left for me to chase.
They broke the wrong parts of me. The storm raged as I stepped into the hallway, closing the door behind me.
“Thought you had died” one of the Lycan's made a snide comment at me.
We walked out to a new building that had food written boldly on it. I expected it to be a tray system but it wasn't. Each stand had a different meal and we were encouraged to get a meal of our choice. I walked towards the scanty looking station, avoiding eye contact with the man in uniform.
“First time here?” He asked.
I nodded and he ladled food onto a wooden plate and handed it over. I wanted to ask how he knew but I didn't. I just collected my food and walked away, my head bowed.
I could only stare at my food. Soon enough, a whistle was blown and we all discarded our plates and walked out.
“Hey” a guy got in line with me, walking side to side.
I bit my lower lip and walked, ignoring him. I wasn't interested in making friends. The last one didn't exactly end well. I don't think I can open my heart again to anyone.
“You're a quiet one. I'm Ethan” I ignored him again.
Getting the memo that I wasn't interested in small talks he shoved his hands in his pocket and walked quietly.
“Damn girl, couldn't even spare him a handshake?” I heard a female voice say in a giggle.
“What?” I turned in search of who spoke to me. “Did you say anything to me?”
“No, why?” He looked at me genuinely confused before he walked away.
Don't tell me I'm losing my mind too, I know I clearly heard someone talk to me. In a girl's voice too when I'm clearly the only woman that's crazy enough to still be alive while all this was happening.
As I headed outside, I allowed the fresh breeze run through my hair. This was my life now.
I did the one thing that I knew how to do best. Run.
I took off running into the woods, feeling the air rip through me. I ran for hours before I came across a slope and I stopped seeing the red flag, this should be the stop. I turned and ran back pushing through even though my body cracked and all I wanted to do was to bed down in pain, I ignored my body and ran.
Hunter would pay for his crimes, I refuse to call him an Alpha. He put that title to disgrace. I bent down, holding on to my knees as I gasped for air.
I went back to the cramped room, changing into another dress. Just as I was about to lie down, a guard walked into the room.
“The Alpha calls for you,” he said, as I gave him a small nod.
“I think it's about time that we welcome you to the pack. You know how you start right?” Alpha Freki spoke out when he saw me. I nodded. It didn't matter that I was going to start all over as an omega.
“I, Daciana Fenrir, formerly of the Shadow Fang pack, pledge my loyalty to the Crescent Blood pack and its Alpha,.Alpha Freki”
“Drink this” he handed me a cup and I drank it. I felt my knees buckle, but I managed to hold myself up, holding on to one of the chairs like my life depended on it.
“Daciana Fenrir, you are now officially a member of the Crescent Blood pack”
“You’re now one of us,” He said through the mind link, and I nodded. Tyler excused himself leaving us alone.
I noticed that his eyes were fixed on Tyler's back, as he headed out of the office. Soon enough, Alpha Freki spoke. “He lost his wife during the fight that night. She was pregnant and wasn't supposed to be there that night but he insisted on her coming along. Ever since she got pregnant, he wouldn't leave her side.”
“That's sad," I whispered. At least that was something that I finally had in common with Tyler.
“What really happened that night?”
I paused immediately. There was something in his eyes. I couldn't place what. I was about to speak when we heard someone approach the room.
Freki grabbed me and pushed me behind him. I could feel his hands burn into my skin. He asked if I heard someone but my voice failed me.
“We're not alone,” he whispered.
“Alpha!” A little boy ran into the room towards him. Freki’s voice went from being serious, to a wide smile. He let go of me and bent down to pick the little boy up.
“Jayden! He wears me off” His mom ran after him, panting.
“I was much worse at his age,” Freki laughed as he threw him up making funny faces at him. I felt something tug at my chest as I watched him play with the boy but gave me an insight of another side of him.
“Hi, you must be the rogue everyone won't shut up about” she offered me a hand and I took it. I had barely spoken when she cut me off.
“I better get back to the pack, wouldn't want my husband to worry” I watched as she ran after Jayden who took off the moment he was kept on the floor.
“I should rest,” I said, and he nodded at me. I didn't want to read. I didn't even feel like I needed rest at that point. It was time to start plotting.
