Meet Your Maker
The moon was out amongst the stars, as they shown down on me hunting for someone, anyone, Not caring I was
thirsty and needed someone. The ache in my throat was becoming more pronounced as I hung in the shadows. I loved
the night, it kept me hidden from the very people I was trying to single out to hunt. Blending with the shadows was so
easy, it was one of the things that you first learned becoming one with the night. Alleys were the best places to creep
among the shadows and wait. Of course being one that could just waltz into the bar next to them and lure them out, but
where was the fun in that? Being beautiful enough to enchant any man that I came across in the bar. One look and I
would have owned them.
My hair was the color of the lightest blond almost like snow with just a streak of the pale yellow reining though it. My
eyes was that of the clearest ocean that had an ice white color that flaked though them. Not looking like I was as
powerful as I was only standing 5' 2" and very petite at best I weighed 110 lbs.
Loving that fear I could sense from them as they look around asking "Who's there!" "What do you want!"
That was my pleasure in life, to feel their growing fear. With the sound of their heart beating faster and the blood flowing
faster through their veins.
Shaking as I closed my eye to think about the very moment when fear had consumed them and me being the one to
deliver it. Loving the hunt more than anything and all I had to was be patient someone would be stumbling out soon
enough.
Sitting in the shadows awaiting my prey, hearing the rats that traveled up and down the alley. Smart little nasty
creatures though, they never came to close to where I hid. Never close enough to be caught by my hand.
Smiling, closing my eyes and using my senses to take in everything that was around me at the time, and to bask in the
night air.
The air tonight was warm and feeling the dew from the night sky, it made my skin moist from being out waiting. The
moon was bright and truly magnificent. Having seen so many different moons, through my long existence, but this moon
had a orange hue to it and was round as it hung in the air to stare down and protect the night. The stars surrounded
the moon as like they was it's personal body guards, loving nights like this. Calm and peaceful made it easier for the
humans to have a wrong since of security, that the moon lighting the night sky slightly would protect them from what
ever was creeping out in the night.
Leaning back against the alley wall waiting for someone, anyone, knowing that it was about the time for the bar to
close and it wouldn't be long till possibly a drunk would come stumbling down the alley to go to his car or just pass out
in the alley from being so drunk, most likely not remembering where he is or what he was doing.
Hearing the door to the bar open, fully alert sitting in the shadows in a cat like crouch waiting for them to walk down the
alley to where I hid. listening to the footsteps, smelling the liquor that he or she was full of as they staggered my
direction.
Watching the corner a man hugging the wall trying to walk turned into the alley. Excellent, he was drunk so drunk he
could not stand. He was older maybe in his sixties, graying black hair and in a business suit. Frowning to myself a bit,
not really caring for the older ones, they wasn't full of life like someone in they're thirties or twenties but, it was blood and
I was thirsty.
My throat felt like it was on fire, that only the blood could quench for that moment. Watching him he stopped in the
middle of the alley and slid down the wall to the pavement under him. Snores started to raise from his throat from
passing out right there on the ground.
Great, now I am going to have to go right up to him and wake him. Where was the fun in that? I want to feel his fear!
Wanting him to fear me. Not to wake up and fear fill him for a few seconds before he was bled dry.
Taking in a deep breath moving up the alley through the shadows where the man had passed out. Staring at him from
my spot in the shadows as he lay straight across from me now, standing slowly starting to walk to this man. Stopping
half way to him, pouncing on him. Picking him up with one hand raising him up over my head, pulling my lips back over
my teeth to show my fangs fully extended hissing at the now half awake man dangling in my grip. When he finally rested
his eyes on me, he smiled and started to gaze from my face to his surroundings.Watching as his eyes became fuller and
understanding washed over his face. Spinning his head back to my face, taking in my fangs and my eyes. His heart
started to speed like a firecracker had just been lit under it and was going to take flight and explode. Smiling at him,
cocking my head slightly to the right feeling his fear radiate off him.I smiled slightly attacking as quick as a black mamba
would to get his prey,I was on him tearing at his neck to get the sweet nectar that my throat was begging for.
The man was flinging and hitting me with his arms, and kicking me with his legs trying to escape my grip my hand had
on him. He wasn't going to get away it was a useless attempt on his part. All the kicking and flinging of his arms was
going to make it easier for me actually, as the blood draining from his body was coming quicker because of his panic. It
doesn't take long in the first place, but when they put up a struggle it goes twice as fast.
Barley moving now his breath became more ragged. Hearing his heart coming to it's end.

Thump.....Thump.....Thump.....Half a thump and than quiet. Lifting my head looking at the now dead corpse in my
hand, licking my lips to get the remainder of the blood that lingered there, feeling my fangs level out with the rest of myteeth in my mouth. Letting go and dropping him back to the pavement where I had found him. The burning in my throat
was now just a subtle annoyance, not an overflowing feeling of fire being let loose through my throat. Exhaling and
dusting my hands off on my pants,as turning and began walking up the alley opposite of where the man had came from.
Still having about three hours of the night left to do whatever I wanted.I was going to enjoy the night. Coming to the
end of the alley, jumping up and caught the ladder with one hand flung my body to the top of the roof, landing on the
balls of my feet. Scanning the roof as standing up straight, to make sure there wasn't anything up here with me. Not
sensing anything that was out of the norm, turning and gliding over to the edge to jump to the next roof. As catching the
smell of something. Stopping dead in my tracks, smelling a creature of some sort. Not just any creature, but a creature
with a gift, one that isn't suppose to be in the city. Turning and crouching down doing another sweep with my eyes.
Making out the little detail of anything through the night light no matter if it is pitch black, no moon, or light I can still
make out what is around me. Seeing perfectly just like anyone else that is not of my nature can see in the sunlight. But
still was not seeing anything on the roof with me. There were vents for the air conditioner popping up out of the roof.
Starting toward the door that came out to the roof exit, someone or something could be hiding behind the walls to the
door that was coming up out of the ceiling to hold the door for the roof exit. Slowly crossing the distance between me
and one of the air conditioner vents popping up out of the ceiling, nothing was there I could tell before being fully upon
the vent. Hissing softly feeling my fangs explode in my mouth, from the growing annoyance of someone hiding from me
on the roof. Anger started to rip through me from being annoyed with this creature. The sky felt my anger and
annoyance as the wind blew with a vengeance around my face whipping my hair from side to side, clouds started
rolling across the peaceful sky, as thunder crashed in the distance and lighting lit the sky.
Moving closer to the back of the wall that held the door feeling the fear seeping from the individual that hid there. Rain
started to fall down from the growing stir of clouds that rolled in feeling my mixture of emotions hail started to fall to the
ceiling pelting the roof with the mixture of rain. Thunder and lighting was growing more fierce with my growing anger that
this individual was still cowardly hiding from me. It still was not human, but something else that lurked the nights hiding
behind the wall. Was it spying on me, was it watching me the whole time? My anger started to turn quizzical as prowling
closer to see what was hiding.
A low growl came from the wall. Stopping briefly a hiss came up through my throat. Yes it sensed me as well, the fear
that was once oozing from the creature was now becoming more frightened. A smile pulled on lips, having not had a
good fight in awhile this should be fun. Lingering by the door facing the side of the wall the creature stepped out from
hiding. It was a man! Shock ripped through my mind. My face showing no emotion as the shock ran through me.
Looking at his face, his eyes was ice blue with a miniature flame dancing behind them. His hair as black as the night
sky that lay above use. He was dressed all in black and to any human would not be noticeable to their eyes. His face
held a smirk as he gazed into my eyes. He was a vampire. What was he doing here this was my hunting ground had
been for ten years now. Fighting before to protect it, killing the last vampire that intruded on my territory, not afraid to do
the same to this one.
Crouching into an attack stance never moving my eyes from his waiting for him to make a move.He c****d his head
sideways to take in my shift in my stance. A smile lit his face up as he spoke. "Ah, Veronica it has been a deed to finally
capture your attention to get this close to be able to speak with you." Hissing at him throw my teeth squinting my eyes
at him, how did this guy know my name? Having never seen him before, why did he want to talk with me?
Being a rogue vampire, have been for over 500 years and I liked it. Not liking anyone telling me where to hunt or what
to do. Leaving my coven along time ago to adventure on my own, for the reason that I didn't have to take orders from
anyone. Relishing the night, the feeling of being free to take when choosing to and when I wanted it. "What do you
want? I am rogue I do not want nothing from you." I snapped back at the all to confident vampire that stood before me.
Still with a smile on his face.
Liking nothing more than to smack his smile off his face. The smile he wore disappeared like he read my thoughts of
wanting to remove it from his face. "I am sure you do not want anything from me, I see you are quit able to handle
yourself. But my King would like to have a word with you. I believe that you know him. He has spoken of you quit often
and now that we have moved our coven here to your city he would like a visit with you, you know to make sure that
you won't go killing off our coven."
My eye brow shoot up at the statement, moving into my city.Having been the only one here for ten years and now they
are wanting to move a house full up the road from me. Straightening from my stance pruning my lips together at the
thought of having to share my hunting grounds with new vampires. Not being thrilled with the conversation this vampire
was having with me. The hail started to fall again as my anger grew stronger again. The vampire glared up at the sky
and shook his head. "May you please calm down miss. The weather is turning quit ugly." Fire lit up my eyes as the wind
howled and hail flew to the ground in the size of golf balls. The rain pelted off the roof soaking us through to the bone.
The vampire stared at me with amazement in his eyes.
"I have heard of vampires being able to control the weather, but I must say I thought that it was rubbish. Having never
seen one do it with my own eyes. I have lived for 350 years not once seeing this. My king said that you my dear was
one of a kind and not to take lightly to you." He bowed his head to me in a courtesy manner.
Who was this king that he spoke of, haven't been with a coven for 500 years and the last of my knowledge I was the
only one remaining out of that coven after leaving so long ago. This was a young vampire doing the bidding ofsomeone else, having 800 years on this young one. No wonder the fear was running through him. He knew that I could
kill him with ease and not think twice about it.
A smile played along my lips at the thought of the many things I could do to him to make him yell out in agony. Again as
if he was reading my mind.
"Please Veronica I just come here to talk and not to try and harm you. My king so much would like a visit with you."
The hail stopped and the rain tapered off to a mist, the lighting and thunder was just mere background noise from the
distance now. Taking a deep breath exhaling slowly, looking this vampire in his eyes."Who is this King you speak of?"
Smiling and looking toward the sky yet again he nodded to me "Thank you for calming down. My king is Lord
Christopher. I believe that you know him from long ago."
This is the king of your coven, ice filled my veins and my heart iced over. Christopher yes I knew him, having loved him,
and was foolish enough to think that I could love someone. Vampires don't love we kill and hunt, we live by the fear we
inflict on others alone.
Closing my eyes the memories rolled in as a fog over the coast. Only 650 hundred years old at the time, when I was out
hunting when coming across the most beautiful man I had ever seen. Still able to remember the night perfectly.
It was much like tonight, where the stares stood there ground to protect the glorious moon that shown bright in the night
sky above for all to see.
The wind blew a gentle breeze through the field of wheat while being perched waiting for someone to come along.
When from the woods he came riding out on a midnight black horse.
Memorized by his beauty. Watching as he glided through the field of wheat. Something that having no clue of filled me
as gazing upon this beautiful man sitting upon his horse.
His blue eyes was like the sea, his brown hair swept across his forehead. The muscles in his shoulders, seeing them
easy enough through his shirt, as his hands held firmly to the reins he had in his hands to lead his horse.
He was tan from being in the sun working all day. Standing out of my cover staring at this wonderful creature that had
just filled my presence.
The wind blew lazily as the horse caught the smell of a predator.
The horse reared up and the man fell to the ground not excepting the horse to react the way it had just done.
The horse ran the other direction to flee from danger. As the man stood up from the cover of the wheat yelling towards
his horse to return, when he spotted me.
Breathing hard from the feeling that ran through me.It was a new kind of thrill having never been felt before, I was
anxious to talk to him, and frightened of him! A mere human and I was afraid of him.
Stuck where I stood, staring at him. He seemed to be as struck as I was with seeing me in the field. Slowly a smile crept
to his lips as he slowly made his way to where I stood.
"Hello Ma'am I hope I did not frighten you." He said removing his hat from his head as he spoke to me with his southern
accent.
Not being able to talk, staring up at him like a fool.
Laughing a bit he stared back down at me. "Are you alright Ma'am?" as he took my hand in his. His gloves didn't let
him feel the coldness coming from my skin, feeling his warmth through his glove warming my skin under his glove
covered hand.
Looking to our hands than back to his face a smile lit my face. He smiled in return. It was the first time that ever being
this close to a human and not wanting to drink their blood. Hearing his heart beating at a slow calm pace and smell his
scent of woods and sweat. He smelt wonderful to me.
Still staring in his eyes wanting nothing more than to feel his lips on mine. Never wanting anything else in this world so
bad in all my life.
Then sensing someone coming up through the woods that he had just came out of. Turning to the woods, to see
Micheal's eyes glowing red as I held this mans hand in mine and not drinking from him.
Fear flowed through me, watching Micheal creep up through the field to where we stood. Panic filled me, I had to
protect this man that stood in front of me.
Anger filled me as he grew closer and the earth started to shift under our feet. Micheal jumped over the hole that had
opened up in front of him as he came running toward us. The man that stood in front of me eyes turned to horror as he
braced himself from the ground shifting and turned when he heard Micheal hissing from behind us.
Grabbing a hold of the man throwing him behind me and charged Micheal. We hit in mid air that sent out a shattering
noise that was louder than thunder.
The wind blew harder around us sending trees falling to the ground in the woods to the side of us as we danced
around each other, waiting on the other to make the first move. The ground groaned under us as the anger grew in me.
A smirk pulled at Micheal's face. "Good you are mad, that will make it easier to get to your blood bag." and a
meandering laugh came through his lips.
"We will never be Micheal! NEVER!" hissing through my teeth as lighting shot down from the sky hitting Micheal,
sending him flying through the air to rest on the ground a few hundred feet from me.
Watching him land, turning I ran to the man that was still sitting on the ground in pure shock. "Please come with me. It
is not safe for you here." begging as putting my hand out to him to take. Looking at me with all the fear that one couldfeel, looking back to where Micheal had landed. He stared to scramble backwards away from me, trying to flee from
me.
Hearing Micheal stirring from the field, turning to see if he was up yet. Feeling a stake go through my chest, my hands
flew to where it protruded through my chest, blood, my blood, flowed over my hands.
Panic filled my eyes. The wind drew cold and snow started to fall, turning to see the man holding a tree branch that had
fell when I was upset that set trees to fall with my anger.
A single tear fell over my cheek and turned to ice, pulling out the tree branch. Dropping the branch as I took to the
woods never looking back.
Moving my hand to the place the tree branch had gone through my skin feeling a burning sensation.
"Veronica, Veronica, will you come see my king with me?"
Mentally shaking myself looking the vampire in the eyes, breathing a little harder than I should be. Looking up at the
moon closing my eyes.
Having heard that Micheal turned him to make him his own slave, but that was when I had left. To go on my own, away
from the rules of a coven.
We are not permitted to be with humans, werewolves, witches, shape shifters, or any other thing that creeps around
this world. We are to stick to our own kind and that night when meeting Christopher I would have broke every law, if he
said he would be with me. The betrayal that I felt from him when he tried to kill me when I was trying to keep him safe
has never left my mind.
Even though it was probably my imagination that he wanted me as much as I wanted him. Not caring past that point.
Going rogue and vowed to myself to not fall for anyone or anything. Love was not real, but make believe.
Feeling some pleasure in killing Micheal a few years later. Smiling looking back to the vampire standing in front of me.
"What is you name vampire." I asked him.
Studying my face he smiled "It is Peter, my lady." Nodding toward him, might as well go with him. At least I will know
where they lay there heads through the day.
"I will go with you to met your king, Peter."
