Forever Isn't Always

Chapter 17

Lisa and I went to the field for training with John. Lisa wasn't training till after me so she found somewhere to sit and watch.

‘’Hi'' John said smiling

‘’Hey'' I said trying to force a smile then wondering if the smile I put on was convincing, though I bet it was lopsided and I probably looked like a rabbit.

‘’You ready?'' I said.

‘’Yeah, though I'm pretty sure that I'm supposed to ask that question''he said jokingly but I said something after that I felt sorry for

‘’It doesn't matter who says it, we just have to do our training and get it over with'' I said and then immediately realised I said that too harshly, so I continued after seeing his shocked face, ‘’I'm sorry, that was rude of me.''

‘’Yeah, its ok. You must still be tired from last night'' he said seemingly gathering composure.

‘’Yeah, I guess'' I said lying

‘’Yeah, so we should start by teaching you how to control your power, later we'll find out what you're other powers are'' he said indifferently

‘’Yeah, lets do that'' 

‘’So what stance would you normally use when using your power?'' he asked and I could see he was serious

‘’How should I know? I'm knew to this stuff'' I said a bit carefree

‘’You're right, what was I thinking?'' He said smiling to himself

‘’So when do we start?'' I asked getting impatient

‘’Now, sorry'' he said apologetically

‘’Put your right foot foward and keep your waist centered'' he said now turning on full teacher mode which actually looked funny on him. The way he scrunched his eyebrows and looked so concentrated, with his hand on his jaw and him walking up and down, he looked comical.

‘’You're not getting it right'' he said coming over to me and distracting me from my thoughts.

I got a bit angsty, but not that much when he came over and touched my waist. It was like my mind exploded into a million tiny bits but at the same time it felt whole. He moved my waist to the left a little bit so that I could be well centered but I squirmed a little. 

‘’Are you ok?'' he asked concerned

‘’Yeah, lets just get this over with'' I said looking indifferently but I was actually affected with the way he touched me

‘’Fine, if that's what you want. You don't have to be all grumpy about it'' and I could see he was getting pretty annoyed

‘’Yeah, so what's my excercise for today?'' I said not wanting to waste anymore time, I didn't want to get angry at him.

‘’Ok,can you see that log over there?'' He said pointing a few meters away

‘’Yeah?''

‘’I want you to set it on fire'' he said and I could hear the challenge in his voice. I was scared because I didn't want to hurt anyone but I was going to do it, I decided.

I concentrated as much as I could then I remembered my dad saying to let go of an distracting thoughts or emotions. I did what he said and I could feel the heat on my palm, instead of making me feel hot or burning me, it was like I was intoxicated or drunk, I actually enjoyed the feeling.

I focused on the log and got into the stance John had shown me and I put both my palms forward in front of me. Still looking at the log, I shot fire out of my hands towards it and once the log was on fire, I stopped and looked around to see if I had mistakenly burnt anything or anyone. I hadn't so I looked at him with my hands on my hips. 

‘’See? Full control'' I said shocked at what I had done and amused at the look on his face

‘’Who taught you that?I can't beleive it.'' He said still schocked

‘’Well, you better'' I said but I wondered if I actually had control or if it was just a stroke of luck.

‘’I brought someone to figure out what your other powers are'' he said looking at me strangely

‘’Who?'' I asked out of curiousity

He nodded his head to the direction Lisa was sitting. Lisa was still sitting while Jasmine was leaning over her, with her hands on Lisa's head.

‘’What is she doing to her?'' I asked a bit worried

‘’She is just figuring out Lisa's powers, its nothing to worry about'' he asked as if he had read my mind.

‘’About earlier, I wanted to ask why you were mad at me'' he asked and I could see he was truly lost

‘’Why? Does me being mad affect you?'' I asked, I don't know what reply I wanted but I was hoping he would give the right one.

‘’Of course it does, you're my friend'' Ok, that wasn't the right answer I though

‘’So, we're just FRIENDS?'' I asked stressing the friends. 

‘’Yeah, I think so'' he said confused

‘’So you never liked me as anything more?''

‘’Yeah, sure I did…I do but right now we aren't anything more than friends'' he said looking down. I was annoyed at the fact that he had never told me that he liked me. I was happy that he liked me but I was still annoyed.

‘’Why didn't you ever tell me?'' I asked him

‘’Cause I didn't know what you'd say'' He said now looking at me

‘’Well, I did like you but I'm not sure if I do anymore cause I don't want it to seem like I stole you from your girlfriend'' I said as I couldn't control myself anymore. 

‘’What do you mean?'' He asked and he looked truthfully confused which made me even more annoyed

‘’I saw you with that girl in your room so don't act all innocent and confused. I have to go since training is over, I'll do my session with Jasmine later. I don't feel up to it'' I said and stormed off, leaving him there to stare after him. I walked past Jasmine and Lisa, who were still having their session and then to herself.
