Forever Isn't Always

Chapter 19

A week had past and I kind of avoided John during that period of time. Lisa had become really close friends with Matt, the guy she had danced with on our first night here. My dad and I had been doing some private training aand studying to prepare for what is to come and we had also bonded during that time.

I hadn't told John and Lisa what was going to happen to me when I destroy the castle's core.

I was walking to my last training with John when an arm caught my wrist and pulled me into a room which I recognised as Johns.

‘’John, why'd you pull me in here?'' I asked as he closed his door and then sat on his bed. I sat on the chair opposite his bed and then continued,

‘’I'm pretty sure that training is outside'' 

‘’Yeah, but I just wanted to make things clear with you. I don't love Revenah, the girl you saw with her that day. I was just using her as a means of escape because I couldnt have who I truly wanted…you. I love you not her. Tomorrow we are going to Aedan's castle and we don't know whats going to happen. If we'll survive. So, I just thought I'd tell you now.''He said and then looked at me

I felt emotional after that. I didn't know if I was going to survive and even if I did, I'd be comatose. At least in that state, I'd know that the boy I loved, loved me back.

‘’You should have told me sooner'' I said standing up

‘’I didn't know what you'd say, I was afraid'' He said and I put my finger on his lip.

‘’Don't say anything'' I said and then kissed him. I retreated to see his reaction but then he kissed me back

And so it happened….

I woke up early the next morning out of fear. I spent most of the day with Lisa because I didn't know when next I was going to see her

‘’Why are you spending so much time with me today?'' Lisa asked laughing as we talked on her bed

‘'Is it wrong to spend time with my best friend?''

‘’Well, no but you don't usually spend this much time with me. Is there anything wrong?'' She askedn sincerely and softly. I wanted to tell her but I couldn't beacuse I felt guilty. She had recently lost Arthur and I didn't want her to know about what would happen to me till she had to.

‘’No, its just that you aren't going to Alibe's castle tonight but everyone else is. So I'll see them later'' I half lied

‘’Ok, if thats it. Tell me what are your other powers, mine is that I can make plants grow and move. But it isn't anything cool''  she said

‘’Its actually cool. Though my other powers are the ability to control plants, make people fall asleep and control the weather'' I said

‘’Wow, thats so cool''I spent the rest of the afternoon talking with Lisa and then when it was five o'clock I went to change to a comfortable war attire. Not many people were coming so as not to draw attention but there were just enough people for a resue mission. There was Dave, John, seven others and I. We travelled in two carriages and there was an extra one brought for the people we found. 

John drove the extra carriage while I was in a seperate one with Dave, a girl named Jessie, A man named Micah and his twin sister, sparkle.It was a quiet ride and I guessed everyone had something they were thinking of. 

We arrived at Alibe's castle at eight o'clock which was perfect as we were protected by the darkness. Everyone followed me because Melissa had engraved the map of the place into my memory. Everybody had weapons drawn out incase they came into contact with any guard. 

There seemed to be a commotion upstairs which seemed to keep most of the guards there. When we got to the second staircase we had been to so far, we heard a guard coming and everyone hid from sight. I was nearest to the staircase so when got to the top of the stairs, I blew some dust into his eyes and he fell asleep and landed with a slight thud on the floor and then we moved him to a corner to hide him from view of other guards.

‘’That's cool'' John whispered to me and winked

‘’Thanks'' I said and grinned back at him. 

We went down the stairs and caught sight of four guards who were guarding the prison but they hadn;t seen us. I couldn't make them all fall asleep at once. Jessie passed me a kind of grenade and told me to blow some dust into it. I did as she asked and then passed it back to her. She then removed the trigger and threw it inrto the room. I saw the dust go everywhere, and then we waited for it to clear before going into the room. All four guards were asleep and we got the keys to the prison gates from them. 

‘’How long will that last?'' John asked me

‘’About two hours'' I replied then continued ‘’Get everyone out of here'' 

‘’Sure thing.''

I left John and the others there, to rescue the prisoners and then I went further down, towards the core of the castle. I walked for about ten minutes before  I reached the core.

The core was just this huge shiny blue cylinder thing that seemed to be twirling. I guess that was what gave Alibe and his castle magic. I knew that I had to destroy it and I knew how, 

I shot out fire towards the cylinder and then I channeled all other powers I had into the fire, making it stronger. I focused my power on it for a couple of minutes before I started to see results. I saw a c***k form on the cylinder and then I focused more energy into the cylinder but I couldn't channel all my power becasue I had to know that John and everyone else was safely outside. I focused more and more energy as the minutes crawled on and I started to gt a terrible headahe. I felt something warm trickle past my lips and down my chin. I touched my chin to see what it was and was afraid when I saw the blood on my palms. Then the headache beacme worse and I dropped doen oon my knees. 

‘’Aaaaargh!'' I screamed but I couldn't stop now. I continued channelling power into the cylinder but I got distracted when I heard a voice behind me

‘’Clara! we're ready'' John shouted from behind me.

‘’No,go. You guys are going to have to leave me'' I shouted while stll channelling magic into the cylinder

‘’There is no way we are going to leave you'' he shouted back and I could hear him coming closer

‘’This is war John, we both know that sometimes things we don't want happen but we have to live with them'' 

‘’But I can't lose you'' John said, he was right behind me now. I made three huge balls of vine with my mind as John was talking.

Then I turned around and gave him one last kiss before pushing him into one of the balls and sending it away after I took one last glance at him. I sent the other two balls after him. Hopefully the balls will get John and anyone else out of the castle in time.

I focused on the cylinder again and then gave it as much as was in me. I didn't stop when the headache became unbearable or when the nose bleed became too much. The foundations of the castle began to crumble and bricks started falling off. The castle was breaking to bits. 

Finally the building collapsed over me as the cylinder broke releasing a bright light, the last thing I saw before I was enveloped in darkness…maybe permanently
