"Sorry!" He handed the paper to her. "Really nice work though. I hope I can still see some of your work." He sweetly smiled at Mildred. She couldn't help but smile back.

"Your hairclip.." He suddenly added. "Looks great on you." He waved goodbye then left.

Mildred felt a sudden brush on her cheeks. Her heart was pounding really hard and she could not get over the smile that guy gave her. She knows exactly what was going on - she has a crush! And that was all so new for her.

Mystery 1
Mysterious Feelings Same environment. Same place. Same people. Same event. Everything is always the same as the year before, but how come I cannot seem to get used to these? Mildred was just standing at the school's gate, looking at that same school she was just two months ago. She spotted the Bulletin Board just before the entrance to the Senior High Building. The board was packed with students eager to know what class they would be in. She looked around the entrance first, hoping to see someone familiar before approaching the crowded students. "Millie!" someone jumped onto Mildred's back and hugged her tight. It was Joice, Mildred's childhood friend. "Did you see what class we are in?" she eagerly asked. "Was about to." Mildred patted her friend's arms, signing her to let go because she can't breathe with her arms wrapped around her tightly. "Sorry!" Joice quickly released Mildred from her embrace. Mildred just sighed and fixed her uniform. Mildred was just grateful to her friend despite her unsociable attitude, her outgoing friend was always her ally. "Your uniform looks really great on you." "I can't... see it." Mildred was not that confident about how she looked. She was just satisfied she wasn't called to the Prefect of Discipline Office. "Of course you don't. You always do." Joice rolled her eyes over her friend's comment. "Your skirt is short?" Mildred added. "I know right." Joice held her skirt and did some curtsy. "Nice! Eh?" "I think you'll be called for within the day." "Oh! Come on, Millie. Don't be such a grandma. It's not that short." Joice was pretty. She was quite a famous figure around the school for being pretty and sociable. Joice was also outspoken about her likes. She does some unique hairstyles which, by the way, always look good on her. And today, she wore a pretty headband decorated with shells and corals. Joice took something from her bag and gave it to Mildred. "What's this?" Mildred stared at a simple shelled hair clip. "I took it from the beach during summer vacation. Grandma and I made that hairclip for you." "Wow! Thank you!" Mildred smiled. "But I did not get you anything." "It's ok. I'd be happy if you could wear that all day today." Joice knows that Mildred is not that into girly stuff. She's the type that wants everything plain and simple. "Oh! Less crowd! I'll go and check our names real quick." Joice hurriedly left and went to the Bulletin Board. Mildred stared at the gift her friend gave her. It was such a pretty hairclip. Mildred felt something weird at that moment. It was the first time she wanted to wear a girly accessory. She tried attaching the clip to her hair but she could not attach it using only one hand. She slid her scrapbook near her armpit and reached for her hair to fix the clip. Just as she finished attaching the hairclip, her scrapbook fell. "Oh no!" There's one thing that Mildred is passionate about; sketching, and she does not like people poking about it. She hurriedly grabbed her scrapbook but one of her torn sketches flew away. Just before it got further away, someone luckily grabbed the paper. "Oh wow! That's art." Mildred felt shy and angry at the same time. It was the first time other than her family and friends saw her work. It was very new to her. "Thank you. Can I have my paper back?" Mildred said with a weird tone. The guy detected that Mildred was not fond of others looking at her work. He knows other people who were like that and he respects them. "Millie!" Mildred snapped back to reality. "Same class!" Joice excitedly told her. Joice immediately noticed something about her friend and Mildred became conscious of it. "What? Just say it." "The hairclip looks a-mazing on you." "Thank you." But behind her mind, she was grateful that her friend did not witness that event. She'll most definitely bug her about it and about him all day.
