CHAPTER 5

The seer is appreciated and escorted back to his house. When we return to Lucas’ pack, he suddenly leads me inside his room. His moves are kind of funny, but yet I keep seeing him as my boss and not someone to play games with. “You have to be in training every hour of the day. The dire strength of a wolf is very rare and unmatchable. I guess you’re a step above Amanda now.” He informs as Richy clasps his hands, waiting for him to be done so he leads me back to the field. “Richy?” Lucas calls, “you can take your leave. I will train her myself.” I’m shocked to hear that as well as Richy is. “She needs to train with her fellow wolves, Lucas…” Richy grumbles. Lucas growls with his Alpha tone, “I said, leave, now.” He quickly leaves his room before all hell is let loose. We start to get closer because of the time spent to train me. Most of the pack members now discuss me in my absence. Some even claim I am the new Luna for the pack, but yet to be officially announced. I decide to do the chills and not inform Lucas about it. “Pretty bad. Start all over.” He would say each time I fail to perform well in training. On a sunny day, an ear-splitting scream intrudes into the pack and Lucas' attention is diverted until Richy quickly meets with him, informing him about someone’s arrival. When the lady shows up, Lucas is very excited to meet her and I blush at his joy. “Tricia! It’s been a long while. How have you been?” He asks, as they both chuckle. Richy sprints towards me to seize a chance of speaking to me since the Alpha is busy conversing with his longtime friend. The way Tricia looks at me screams jealousy. I rather express myself to Richy since I can’t keep it anymore. “Lucas is only an Alpha to me. I’m very grateful to him for taking his time to train me. I suppose Tricia is his real mate and she thinks I am trying to take her place.” I tell Richy but he advises me to do the chills. “Oh, well, yeah…” Her voice is audible now, “Can’t I train her instead? You need some rest, don’t you think? Remember the time we spent at Brooklyn Academy, inside the supervisor’s office?” They guffaw after she says that and I can only sigh at the weird conversation. I just can’t relate. “I am the only wolf strong enough to handle her.” Lucas says with a smile but she doesn’t find it amusing. I hope he doesn’t inform her I am a dire wolf. “I will fry some cookies for you. It’s been a while I trained a wolf. Just let me handle this job.” Tricia persists and I hope Lucas won’t give in. “Thank you very much, Tricia, but I’ve got this.” He says with a deeper tone. She draws her lips closer to his ears suddenly but I activate my wolf to hear what she is saying. “I have noticed your beta’s interest in the girl. It’ll be shameful to chase the same woman your beta loves, not even when someone like me is here.” I stop my wolf from hearing more. Richy helps me up when I am about to fall. "Did you see that?" She asks, her tone more audible now. "Tricia, I'll see you later. Let Richy take you to my quarters." He says and she leaves with Richy. He doesn't bother discussing the matter with me. Afterall, he's my boss, nothing more. We spend more time together and each day passes with Tricia's evil intention towards me. I have been tempted to inform Lucas about it at a time, but I refrained myself. The sun sets and the Alpha releases me from the day's training. When we reach his quarters, a big building where a lot of rooms are. He enters his favorite room and I follow him. He's slept only for a few seconds when I begin to hear the discussions between Tricia and Richy. I enable my wolf's long hearing ability and I begin to note each word they state. I am now aware of their future plot against me to chase me out of this pack and I know the best way to tackle it. When it is morning and Lucas is about to train me as usual, Tricia pulls him into a hug and begins to report me. "Can you believe that your new girl killed thirteen wolves last night? She claims to have exercised her training abilities on them. Is that how all wolves would die from her hands?" "Erm...Tricia, I'm sorry on her behalf. Though I'm not sure she did it, but let's put that behind us now." Those words seal her lips as she rolls her eyes at me, leaving his presence immediately. Richy winks at me but I stare daggers at him, which simply means, "don't try to want me if you notice the Alpha wants me, please." A few hours of training again and I begin to feel relaxed with Lucas. His smiles and insinuations make me chuckle but whenever I remember there is one Tricia, I feel moody and my expression changes as a result. "Pretty dire wolf, you shouldn't be too worried if you can't do it this way." He suddenly starts to care more about me, not minding that his longtime friend who is interested in him, is around and can be watching him from any angle. The last training is a bit complex and as I sprint forward, I land into his arms and we both fall to the ground. I remain flat on his chest as he breathes rapidly, from the exhaustion of the training. I try to stand up so pack members won't say it's a different thing but he holds me back. Our gazes meet and I muster the courage to talk, "Tricia would be watching us." His smiles win over my anxiety as he whispers soothingly into my ears, "I don't care, I want you, only you."
