ZARA’S POV
Cael was looking at me so seriously that my mind began to run wild. What if he had fallen in love with me truly? It wouldn’t be entirely shocking as I had a beautiful face and a sexy body, one no man could resist. Cael had been encharmed by me, I was sure.
“I…” he started to say.
“You don’t have to say it,” I muttered. I looked away shyly, “I know how you feel.”
“You do?” he asked curiously.
“Of course, I do,” I affirmed. I sighed briefly and continued, “It is okay. Feelings can get caught up in work at times. However, we must be professional about this. No matter how hard I am to resist, you must make sure you resist me. Your feelings… now isn’t the time for them.”
Cael started to look at me weirdly, “Err… I am a bit puzzled. What exactly are you talking about?”
“How you feel,” I replied gently.
Cael smirked, “You don’t possibly think I have feelings for you, do you?”
I was taken aback. Did I just misunderstand the situation?
“Well…” I laughed nervously.
“Why would I have feelings for you? Our marriage is totally based on a contract. We will have a clean divorce in three years anyway. I am not dumb enough to waste my feelings,” he said, chuckling.
I don’t know why his statement irritated me.
I scoffed, “Same here! And I didn’t think you had feelings for me in the first place. You misunderstood.”
“No, I don’t think so,” he shrugged.
“You were wrong!” I raised my voice at him. “Do you think the world revolves around you? Do you think you know what I thought better than I did?”
“Hey, calm down,” he muttered. “Why did you have to get angry all of a sudden?”
“I am not angry!” I shouted. “I’m done with this meal. You can have it all, you annoying man!”
I marched out of the dining room instantly and went to the master bedroom. I was annoyed and there was no better way to resolve it than a good night’s rest. It was a sad thing that I couldn’t have dinner properly but that was the least of my worries.
My stomach growled in hunger, maybe that wasn’t the least.
**
One thing you should know about me is that I can never sleep on an empty stomach. Today, the hunger was especially intense and it kept me walking back and forth in the bedroom. I checked the time continuously and thought of various and strangely, all of them had holes.
In the end, I decided to go to the kitchen and make some noodles for myself. It would probably make my face puffy but I wouldn’t mind, not for tonight.
I opened the door gently and walked downstairs. There, I heard Cael’s footsteps approaching. I don’t even know how I recognized his footsteps but the next thing I did was to run back into the bedroom. I remained at the door, listening to see where he had passed. As he approached, I realized I was in the master bedroom and he would definitely enter here. I jumped on the bed, covered myself with the sheets and then the door opened quietly.
Cael entered and though my eyes were shut tightly, I could feel his eyes on me. He walked closer and I held my breath nervously. He covered me with the sheets properly and turned away. Slowly, I opened my eyes, wondering why he was being so caring. He was at the entrance of the bathroom and I watched him take off his clothes, one after the other. I shut my eyes when he took off his underwear and only opened them back after he had entered the bathroom.
I swallowed hard, thinking of different things at the same time. I was still hungry and now was the right time for me to run down to the kitchen and make some noodles. On the other hand, the picture of Cael’s broad back had been stuck to my brain and I only kept replaying it in my head. I remembered how I had tried to wrap my hands around his back as we made love. Oh, how good that felt.
Another growl in my stomach woke me up from my daydreaming. At the moment, the most important thing was food. I could fantasize about Cael later.
Slowly, I stood up from the bed and began to tiptoe towards the door. It was a shocking thing for me when Cael came out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel covering his lower body.
“Ahh!” I screamed, falling down to the ground as if I had just seen a ghost. He flinched as well but calmed himself by the next moment.
“What is it? Are you okay?” he asked, trying to come near me.
“I am fine!” I exclaimed. “Stay where you are, don’t come near me.”
“I thought you were asleep,” he muttered.
I heard his words but couldn’t reply. I watched the water drip from his hair and started to salivate. Was his chest always well sculpted like this? And those abs, oh my. I am in trouble.
“Zara,” he was calling. “Zara!”
“Yes!” I replied loudly just as if I was waking up from a nightmare. “Why did you yell my name?”
“I had to because you weren’t answering. Are you sure you are okay?” he asked calmly. “I believe there is an in-house doctor. I could call him.”
“I’m fine. I said I’m fine,” I snapped at him. I stood up and began to walk to the door.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
I hesitated a bit. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him I was going to make noodles because of how hungry I was.
“I’m not sleeping in the same room with you, remember the contract?” I replied cheekily. “You should enjoy your night’s rest here at the master’s bedroom.”
I smiled and turned to leave, thinking my excuse was so sleek.
“You will sleep here tonight,” Cael muttered. I turned back to him and there he was, looking at me with those eyes again. Those sexy eyes filled with desire. Oh no, he was making me wet.
