Chapter 15

ZARA’S POV I salivated more and my heart began to beat harder. If this continued, I wouldn’t be able to control myself. Wait a moment, I think he wanted me too. I could see it in his eyes. “Err…” I cleared my throat. “Why would I sleep here tonight? You should be more clear about things like this.” “We have to,” he said as he moved closer to me. My legs quivered and I found myself moving backwards until I felt the wall. His face was only a few inches away from mine. I have seen this very well in movies. That’s how the female lead and male start kissing and then sleep together and promise to love each other forever and make babies and raise them and live in love until they’re both old and grey. Oh my, these imaginations of mine are truly messing up with my head. “We have to sleep together,” he muttered. I swallowed hard and began to speak subtly, “Sleep together? What do you mean? Didn’t we agreed on having a no s*x marriage?” “What?” he asked. I bit my lower lip, “It is totally fine that you have the urges but we shouldn’t be doing this, you know.” I was curling my toes and my body itched for his touch. I should play hard to get for a bit and then agree. Even though I had been trying to pretend, I really wanted to have the magical experience I felt on that night we first met. Cael shook his head pitifully, “I don’t know what you’re thinking about but I only meant to sleep in the same room. We don’t know who Victor’s spy is yet, we can’t let them find out we are staying in separate rooms.” Oh my gosh. “Of course,” I began to laugh nervously. “That’s exactly what I’m thinking of.” “Then you should go back to bed,” he replied, smiling sweetly. Slowly, I walked to the bed, unable to protest. I was still hungry and I had to share a room with Cael, this can only be pure torture. I slept on the edge of the bed and endured the hunger. Soon enough, he got properly dressed and joined me in bed, stealing almost the entirety of the blanket for himself. I tugged at the blanket on my own end and he pulled even harder. As he was stronger than me, he pulled the entire blanket to his side. I sat up, gritting my teeth. “You can have it all, jerk!” I shouted at him. Before he could sit up to reply, I marched outside the room furiously. The moment I was outside, I began to laugh excitedly since everything had worked out as I wanted it to. I hurried to the kitchen and got two packs of noodles. I lit up the cooker and blushed as the water steamed inside the pot. Cooking the noodles took ten minutes even though the packet said three minutes. I wasn’t the type who loved half-cooked noodles. I didn’t bother serving it on a plate. I took the pot and a fork and started to dig in. I was so concentrated on eating like I had just discovered noodles that I didn’t know when Cael appeared behind me. I jumped up the moment I found out, clutching the fork like it was a weapon. “You could have just said you were starving. You didn’t have to pull a silly trick like that,” Cael muttered. “Women… They always have the strangest ways to communicate their thoughts.” “It’s not a woman thing, it’s a personal thing for me!” I shouted at him. “Oh, is it?” he asked sarcastically. “I will personalize it now. Zara… she has the strangest ways of saying she’s hungry. Also, she has been shouting a lot recently.” “Recently? You meant to say tonight, baby?” I retorted. “Baby?” he asked. “I’m not sure we agreed on romantic terms like that.” “Romantic?” I scoffed. “I said it because you are acting so childishly. How could a grown man be so petty? Couldn’t you have left without announcing your presence?” Cael opened his mouth but no words came out. “What?” I asked, my hands on my waist. “Cat got your tongue?” “You…” he was interrupted by Kate who appeared, looking at both of us blankly. “Is there a problem?” Kate asked calmly. “Is this an argument by any chance?” “No, of course,” both of us replied at once. I didn’t know we had such chemistry. Actually, maybe I did know. “What are you doing here at this time of the night? You should be in bed right now,” Kate said, looking at our faces simultaneously. “We should go to bed, sweetie,” Cael turned to me, smiling. “Yes, darling,” I replied, smiling as well. We walked away together, holding hands. I don’t need to tell you we let go the moment we entered our room. We eyed each other dangerously and went to bed, turning backs on each other. ** I woke up to a knock on the door. Cael got to the door and spoke briefly to the person who knocked. He turned to me, looking unpleasant. “Victor is here,” Cael announced. “He is in the living room and he wants to see us briefly.” Cael and I went downstairs in our nightwears and there, Victor was truly waiting with his legs crossed. “How about you start living with us?” I asked, annoyed about the early morning meeting. “Good morning to you too,” Victor replied, managing a smile. “By the way, both of you aren’t wearing matching nightwears. Isn’t that a thing for new couples?” I bit my lower lip, “Is that why you are here?” “No, not really,” Victor answered. “I wanted to let you know you’ll be joining me and Nadia on a family show tomorrow. I expect you to go shopping for a dress today. You should look really sophisticated. Cael, you get ready too.” “Isn’t that too sudden?” Cael asked. “You should go on your honeymoon too. I have everything prepared already. Immediately the show ends tomorrow, you will fly to Paris,” Victor said. “Spend one week in the most romantic city in the world, that’s my gift to the both of you.”
