Chapter Fourteen

Lenny’s pov

It’s been a week since the fire happened. There has been no sign of Athena anywhere. Her scent is long gone now. As is she. My heart is broken into a million pieces. I finally found my mate. Then at the sametime I lost her.

In a blink of an eye. She's just gone. Since my dad was Alpha Steven's best friend. The council thought it would be best to let him handle everything. Meaning the little bit of pack members who are left. He has given them shelter and what not.

All their assets have been frozen. They won’t do anything with it. Not until Athena’s body is found. They will put someone in charge of it until she appears. I’ve been helping him out here. I can’t seem to bring myself to leave. I know I have to go back soon.

I just find it really hard to go. My pack will need me soon. Especially since my dad already announced his retirement. That was way before I found Athena as well. Now I will have to go through it without her.

Since then we have taken into account everyone that was here that night. Match it to alpha’s Steven pack log. Every pack has to have one. It keeps track of everyone who has ever been in or has left this pack. There are a couple of bodies that are missing from the pack.

I don’t know if it’s because they were burnt to ash. Or because they are missing like Athena. But it is our job to find out.

The only good part about this is that we are the police in this case. We get to do all the work for the council. Since we were here when everything went down. I’m hoping the council doesn’t take long either. If they don’t find enough evidence. They will treat this like a rogue attack. I’m not saying that the rogues weren’t here. They were definitely here. It wasn’t only them though.

I know in my heart that this was a set up. Someone killed the alpha and luna. Took my mate their daughter. I know it just wasn’t a random attack. I just have to prove it. I will too. Just wait and see. I walk over to my dad. He’s been working out of Alpha's Steven’s office. That’s been kind of hard for him. As he has all those good memories with him there.

When I walk in I see his on the phones. Sitting down across from him. While I wait for him to get off the phone. I look around alphas Steven's desk. It is filled with a whole bunch of pictures. Of him and his wife. Him and Athena. All of them together. I couldn't help but smile.

I look up at my dad again. I didn’t even notice that he wasn’t on the phone anymore. The look on his face says a lot though. Please tell me some good news. Not no bullshit ass excuse from whoever that was on the phone.

That was the council. Council member Ethan to be exact. According to him, council member Hendrix was out. Since they told him of the problem while he was out.He decided to pass by on his own.

He said that he asked all the questions he was supposed to. He got all the answers that he needed as well. He said that they were reasonable answers for his questions. With that being said they will postpone their trip to the bloodlust pack.

Instead of going in a week. They will be going within the month.They assure me that this will be handled. They won’t take this as the final answer. It would just take more time to deal with.

I’m sorry dad but you can’t be serious. You are not going to take that answer seriously right. They can’t be serious. Who is this Hendrix? Since when do they take his word like it's gold? Why would they even trust what he said?

I need them to deal with this fast. Not slow. If we give them more time. You don’t know what they can do to her. Who ever has her. We don’t know what they want or anything. We can’t just let all these leads go to waste. Time passes by. I’ll never find her like that dad.

If we wait that long. I might lose her for good. I couldn’t take it anymore. I got up and left. Heading straight for the woods. I need a run like now. Not later.

Athena’s pov

Waking up again. This time I can feel someone touching me. When I try to move my hand to swat theirs away. I feel that both my hands are tied together.While I try to figure out how I ended up this way. They run their fingers up and down my leg. I try to open my eyes but they hurt. Between the crying and Brandon beating me, the goddess knows how long ago. They hurt like hell. Slowly but surely I get to open my eyes. It takes hard work but I make it happen.

When I look up I see that it’s Bradon. The feeling of wanting to vomit is becoming stronger and stronger.How could he? Why would he?

Now I’m just sitting here,in this mess. A crying mess wondering when my time will come. I would rather be with my parents then be here. I lay back and close my eyes. The tears are still coming out though. Darkness just came to sweep me away.

Brandon’s pov

Walking back to the pack house. I can’t help but to smile. That was a good time I had there. I don’t care whether she enjoyed it or not.I only care about me and me only.

Are you crazy? Have you lost your mind? Asks Carlos. Carlos mind your neck please and thank you. Be the wolf that you are supposed to be. Enjoy the nut you just got thanks to me. Just shut the f**k up.

I head straight up to my room. Right into the shower. I need to clean myself off. I also need to be clean at all times. Just in case I want to go back and have some more fun. While I’m in the shower I get a mind link from dad. Get your ass down here right now. I’m in the shower give me a minute, will you. I start to wash myself.

Then rinse off all of the soap of course. I get dressed and head straight to my dad's office. What does this old hag want now? I ask myself. I walk straight in without knocking. I sat down in the chair right across from him.

What do you want from me, old man? Can’t you see I’m a busy person? I do have a life you know. Things to handle and what not. Why must you always bother me?

Brandon, let me ask you something. How many people have you taken from the howling moon pack? I only ask because the council has asked. They are a couple of people missing from the pack. Including Athena of course. We already know about that though. So that’s not the problem at all.

I don’t have time for this old man I say as I get up and out of the chair. Sit your ass down. We are not done here. You don’t get to chose when you stay and when you. I am the alpha here Brandon not you. Answer my question now.

Only they didn’t kill him. He’s still alive and probably looking for her. They found each other the morning of and kept it secret. I don’t think anyone else knew except them too.

Finally some fresh air. I decided to go back to my toy. Maybe she can help me get rid of all this tension. I make my way to my spot. Making sure no one saw me. I can’t wait to get back to her.
