It was going to be another busy day for Amelia Lee. Amelia was a junior fashion designer at a fashion magazine based in Gangnam, Seoul. Although her official position was junior designer, she often helped with almost everything related to fashion shoots—from preparing outfits and arranging accessories to checking the smallest details before the camera started rolling. Today, the magazine was working on a photoshoot for a famous fashion brand's new-season collection. Amelia carefully adjusted the collar of a jacket on the clothing rack before stepping back to inspect it. The outfit looked perfect. She checked the accessories one more time before moving on to the next outfit. Around her, the studio was already busy. Photographers were checking their equipment, makeup artists were preparing their tables, and staff members were moving in and out of the changing area. Amelia was used to this kind of chaos. As long as everyone knew what they were doing, she actually enjoyed it. She was arranging another outfit when she suddenly heard her editor's angry voice from across the studio. “What did you say?” Everyone nearby immediately became quiet. Amelia turned around. Editor Maya was standing with her assistant, Luis, with an expression that clearly showed she was not happy. “The female model for the photoshoot can't come?” Maya asked. Luis nodded nervously. “Yes. She called just now. She's not feeling well.” “Damn it.” Maya looked toward the clock. “The actor Isaac Kim is almost here. We can't change the whole photoshoot concept at the last minute like this.” She took a deep breath before looking directly at Luis. “Find me another model.” Luis looked around the studio. “Maya, Isaac Kim is almost here. We don't have any female models available right now.” “Then find someone who fits the model criteria.” Maya crossed her arms. “Female, tall, and pretty. We must have someone on the staff who fits the requirements.” Luis looked around the studio again. The photoshoot could not be delayed. It was already difficult to schedule a photoshoot with a popular actor like Isaac Kim. If they cancelled or changed the concept at the last minute, the entire production team would be affected. Luis's eyes moved from one staff member to another. Then he stopped. His eyes landed on Amelia. “Amelia.” Amelia was still arranging the clothes. She didn't notice him at first. “Amelia!” This time, she heard him. She stopped what she was doing and looked over. Luis waved his hand. “Amelia, come here.” Amelia pointed at herself. “Are you asking for me?” “Yes, you. Come here.” Amelia walked toward him, slightly confused. “What happened?” The moment she reached them, Luis looked her up and down as if he were checking the measurements of a mannequin. Then he started asking questions. “What is your height and weight?” Amelia blinked. “Pardon?” “What size clothes do you wear?” She stared at him. “May I know why you're asking me all these questions?” “We need someone who fits the clothes for today's photoshoot. Can you just answer me?” Amelia hesitated for a moment. “I'm 170 centimeters tall and 57 kilograms. I usually wear a medium.” Luis immediately turned toward Maya. “Maya, does she fit the requirements? Or do I need to find someone else?” Maya looked at Amelia carefully. She looked at Amelia's height, her figure, and then at the clothes Amelia had been preparing. A small smile appeared on her face.“Pick her.” Luis looked relieved. “Really?” “Yes.” Maya pointed toward Amelia. “She's perfect. The others are so-so to me.” Amelia looked from Maya to Luis. Neither of them was explaining anything. She frowned slightly. “Wait.” Both of them looked at her. “What exactly is happening?” Maya smiled. “You're going to be our substitute model today.” Amelia froze. “...Me?” “Yes, you.” “But I'm a fashion designer.” “I know.” “Not a model.” “I know that too.” Amelia looked at the camera equipment, then at the clothes she had just finished arranging. Finally, she looked back at Maya. “You want me to wear those clothes?” Maya nodded. “Exactly.” Amelia's eyes widened. “Today?” “Today.” “With Isaac Kim?” Maya smiled. “Yes. With Isaac Kim.” Amelia stood there silently for a few seconds. She had spent the entire morning worrying about the clothes, the accessories, and whether everything would look perfect on camera. She had never expected that she would be the one standing in front of the camera. And she certainly had never expected to be doing it with one of Korea's most popular actors. “Wait…” Amelia pointed at herself again. “You're serious?” Maya laughed. “Very serious.” Before Amelia could respond, Luis suddenly looked toward the studio entrance. “He's here.” Everyone turned. A small group of staff members immediately began preparing themselves. Maya straightened her clothes. “Alright, Amelia. We don't have time to panic.” She placed a hand on Amelia's shoulder. “Go get changed.” Amelia looked at the clothing rack. Then she looked toward the entrance. "Well, I guess I need to do my job" Amelia hurried to the fitting room with the cloth in her hand. Maya and Luis quickly turned toward the entrance of the studio. A tall man walked in with another man following closely behind him. It was Isaac Kim. Maya immediately approached him. “Hi, Isaac. I’m Maya, the editor for today’s photoshoot. And this is my assistant, Luis.” Isaac smiled politely and nodded. “Nice to meet you.” His assistant, Andrew Han, stepped forward and shook hands with Maya and Luis. “Is everything ready?” Andrew asked. “Can Isaac get changed and have his makeup and hair done?” “Yes, everything is ready,” Maya replied. “Please let me show you the outfit for today.” Maya led Isaac toward the clothing rack and showed him the outfit prepared for the photoshoot. Isaac took a quick look at it before following the stylist toward the fitting room. Once Isaac stepped inside, Maya quickly turned to Luis and lowered her voice. “Is Amelia ready? Go check on her.” Luis nodded.“Alright.” He quickly walked toward Amelia's fitting room. “Amelia, are you done changing?” Luis asked from outside. “I've changed, but I still need some help with the styling,” Amelia replied. “I can't see the overall look properly.” She looked at herself in the mirror. “I still don't think this suits me. Should I ask someone else to be the substitute model?” Amelia felt awkward wearing the dress. She was a fashion designer, not a model. She was used to choosing clothes for other people, not standing in front of a camera wearing them herself. “Come outside and let me see,” Luis said. “I'll ask one of the stylists to help you.” Amelia slowly stepped out of the fitting room. Luis's eyes widened slightly. She was wearing a soft pink and sky-blue floral off-shoulder A-line midi dress. The colors complemented her fair skin, while her light brown wavy hair gave her a soft and elegant appearance. “You look beautiful, Amelia.” Luis smiled. “Come on. We need to do your hair and makeup. You also need to choose your shoes and accessories. We have a lot to do.” Amelia followed him and sat down in front of the mirror. A few minutes later, Maya arrived with the makeup artist and hairstylist. Maya looked at Amelia from the mirror. “Looks like the dress fits you perfectly.” She then turned toward the makeup artist. “Rachelle, we're changing our model today, so you'll need to adjust the makeup style. Keep it light and dreamy. She has a fair skin tone.” Rachelle nodded. “Got it.” Maya then turned to the hairstylist. “Charlie, give her a half-crown braid and decorate it with small flowers.” “Alright,” Charlie replied. Maya looked at Amelia through the mirror. “Amelia, once you're ready, I'll brief you and Isaac about today's photoshoot concept.” Amelia nodded. “Okay.” Maya then left to check on Isaac. --- Isaac had already changed into the outfit prepared for him. Maya approached his fitting room. “Isaac, does the outfit fit?” “Yes, it fits well. You can take a look. I'm done changing.” Isaac opened the fitting room curtain. Maya looked him over and smiled. “Thank goodness. It's the right size, and it looks good on you.” She handed him a robe. “You can take off the outfit for now and wear this robe. Then you can go for your makeup and hair styling. Your partner is almost ready.” “Alright.” Isaac changed into the robe and walked toward the makeup and hair styling area. As he approached, he noticed a woman sitting in front of the mirror. She was wearing the pink and sky-blue floral dress Maya had prepared. Isaac slowed down for a moment. Is she the one who will be my partner for today's photoshoot? It was his first time seeing her. At the same time, Amelia noticed him approaching. The moment she saw Isaac, her mind went completely blank. This is real. It's really happening. I'm going to be his partner for the photoshoot. Oh, God. Please help me get through this. I'm Amelia.” Isaac stared at her for a moment. Did I hear her correctly the first time? There was something slightly unusual about her. She seemed nervous, but her answer was completely straightforward. Isaac smiled. “Nice to meet you, Amelia.” Amelia smiled back. “Nice to meet you too.” Their first meeting had officially begun. Neither of them knew it yet, but this unexpected photoshoot would soon change both of their lives.
