CHAPTER FOUR

643 Words
About five minutes later, a young man walked up to the attendant and asked for a refill. He explained that he wanted to pay for it first and come back for it later. The attendant agreed, as the young man had been visiting the café quite regularly recently. He walked out of the café and clicked his fingers as he approached the elevator. Just as he turned left, a brunette with an "I own this place" aura stepped out of the elevator. She wore flashy red lipstick, a miniskirt and heels. Chewing gum, she casually walked to the right. A tall man with a cold aura walked out of the café and turned right. About twenty minutes later, the young woman who had been going through the documents received a text on her phone. It simply read, "Done." She gathered the documents, picked up her bag and stood up. After walking out of the café and entering the elevator, she took out a nose mask and put it on before tying her hair into a ponytail. She stepped out of the elevator and walked towards Room 104. After opening the door, she stepped inside. Her aura changed immediately as her gaze settled on the person tied to the chair. The woman felt the hairs on her body stand on end when she met Ilys's gaze. Ilys looked around the room. There was the brunette, who now had black hair and carried a mild air about her; the young man who had asked for a later refill; and the tall man with the cold aura. These were the people she had signalled earlier. The signal was meant to alert them that the person they had been waiting for had arrived. Ilys removed the tape covering the woman's mouth and said, "Young lady, if I'm going to represent your brother in court, you'll need to keep a low profile, especially considering the charges against him. And by keeping a low profile, I don't mean doing things like this." The woman's eyes glazed over as she replied, "I was trying to look for evidence. I had to do something, at least. I know he didn't do it. I'm sure of it." Ilys replied, "If you're sure of that, then you should have no problem letting me do what I'm supposed to do." A few weeks earlier, at Maxims Prison, a lanky boy sat facing Ilys, with a thick piece of glass separating them. He spoke into the telephone pressed against his ear. "Please keep an eye on her for me. She's definitely going to do something that'll get her into trouble." Ilys replied, amusement hidden in her eyes. "No problem. I'll make sure she stays out of trouble. How are you holding up here?" "I'm fine. Just keeping my head down," he said. Back in the present, Ilys turned to the woman in the chair, whose name was Laura. "Get up," she instructed. She then signalled to the brunette, who untied Laura and handed her some clothes. Laura got up and walked out of the room, throwing an apologetic look at Ilys and the others. "Thank you guys so much for today. Larry, you rocked that cold look today! Becky..." She paused, chuckling. "The brunette!" She then turned to the young man, Dave, who had asked for the refill earlier. Raising an eyebrow, she asked, "You gonna go back for that refill or what?" Dave scratched the back of his head and gave her a silly smile. They all burst into laughter. However, Ilys's expression soon turned serious. "You all know how dangerous this case is." Their expressions turned serious too, and they nodded before she continued. "We're going to need to be very, very careful." Ilys walked back to her apartment. She had just opened her door when her phone rang. It was her father.
