Callista stepped out of her room and saw Nori leaning against the wall, doing something on her phone. Nori looked up and saw Callista staring at her with a look that said, "You ready?" She smiled and nodded.
They walked out of the hotel together and headed for the bus stop. But they stopped in front of a pastry shop and walked in.
The female attendant smiled brightly at them and said, "Good morning, and welcome to Delight Patisserie. What would you like to buy?"
Callista returned her smile briefly before pointing at the lemon tart. The attendant then shifted her gaze to Nori, who pointed at the glazed doughnuts and held up two fingers.
The attendant nodded and proceeded to package their orders. Afterwards, Callista handed her a credit card. The attendant gave them their orders and returned Callista's credit card with a "Thank you for coming."
As they continued towards the bus stop, Nori said, "Thanks, Calli, but I still don't get why you like eating that stuff."
"Last time I ate it, my eyes almost popped because of how sour it was, and I couldn't feel my tongue for a while, too. Goody laughed the s**t out of me," Nori said with a miserable look on her face.
Callista spluttered with laughter and said, with an amused look in her eyes, "Why would you even eat it when you know how you are with sour stuff? But since you asked again, I'll tell you. I eat it so the sourness can slap the s**t out of me when I feel unnecessarily lazy, and it helps with ideas too."
"Ohhhhh, now I get it. I finally understand. Why didn't you just say so? I was beginning to think you had some kind of fetish for sour stuff," Nori said with a chuckle.
They had just gotten to the bus stop, and the bus had just arrived too.
In the library, a teenage girl was picking out books from the science section and stacking them up on the table in front of her before checking the time on her watch and furrowing her brows slightly.
Nori had just gotten to the library entrance and saw Goodness looking in her direction. She smiled and quickened her steps. When she had gotten close enough, Goodness asked, "What took you so long?"
Nori replied while scratching her head and looking silly, "Sorry, I got carried away doing homework."
"It's fine. I brought you something," Goodness said as she pulled out two drinks from her bag and gave one to Nori.
Nori beamed with a smile and said, "We do think alike. I also got you something."
She then brought out the two doughnuts she had bought earlier and gave one to Goodness.
"Oh yeah, we do. Thanks," Goodness said while taking the glazed doughnut from Nori.
They both sat down, picked books from the stack Goodness had selected and started reading silently.
In the basketball court of Avert on University, Callista sat on a chair in the stands, surrounded by six young women who all seemed to be of similar age. She was talking inaudibly while making references and pointing to the open notebook in her hands.
The girls were all paying attention and nodding to show that they understood.
The court smelled fresh, as though it had been cleaned not long ago. There were balls in a net of some sort and a whiteboard near the stands. Since it was warm inside, they all took off their sweaters and got onto the court to practise.
The sound of popping bones could be heard for a while. Then Tori got the ball and threw it into the middle of the court.
Daphne ran forward with wonderful momentum and took the ball in her control. A "da da da" sound was heard as she dribbled past Tori, who tried to take the ball from her.
She leaned forward as a feint, which Tori lunged at while she leaned to the side to make Tori miss her. She continued forward and got closer to Rayne, who spread her arms and lowered her stance.
When Daphne got a bit closer, Rayne moved her upper body forward and attacked.
Daphne's quick reflexes helped her bend backwards instantly, but Rayne was someone who moved instinctively. She lowered her centre of gravity and leaped forward, taking the ball from Daphne's hands.
