Katie shivered as she opened her mouth for Taylor, the ME, to swab inside of her mouth for DNA. She glanced to Lynn, offering a small smile as Taylor shoved the swab back into the plastic bag and turned to Lynn. “Do you really believe that…?” Katie asked with a gulp.
“I don’t know what to believe right now.” Lynn exhaled slowly and then opened her mouth for Taylor to take a sample swab.
“Can you put a rush on this, Taylor?” Alexis asked, glancing down when Calista stirred against Lynn’s chest.
“Certainly,” Taylor smiled sympathetically as she glanced from Lynn to Katie. “I will let you know as soon as I get the results.”
“Thanks.” Katie exhaled with a nod as she nervously looked at Lynn. Alexis walked Taylor to the door, whispering words that neither Katie nor Lynn could understand. “D
