“I feel like I could sleep a week.” Lynn pressed one hand against the center of her aching back when they walked into the apartment. After an uneventful drive home, she was thankful to be back in New York. “I’m so tired.” She dropped the Pet Smart bags onto the sofa, falling down beside them with an exhausted yawn. Even though she’d slept during half the drive, she could hardly keep her eyes open.
“Momma,” Calista tugged Lynn’s shirt. “Can we sleep with Starlight tonight?”
“I don’t know, sweetie. It might be best to keep Starlight in her kennel for tonight.” Lynn forced her body to move as she looked up at Morgan and Calista. “That way she can have some food and water.”
“Oh.” Calista frowned. “Well can’t she drink and eat now then sleep with us?”
