Lisa sat on her bed, barely excited for school.She looked outside her window by the bed side as the sun rays peaked through her yellow curtains.She got up heading to her bathroom, several thoughts crossed her mind,each expressing her anxiety and fears as an high school students.She let's out a sigh and says "I'll just hope for the best,what can actually go wrong?I'll study hard and associate with good students, mustn't screw this scholarship up". She said the last statement like she was reminding herself that she's currently on a scholarship and any misconduct from her , might lead to withdrawal of the scholarship. She came out of the shower, got dressed into her uniform,a white long sleeve shirt with a blue vest on it and a mini blue flare skirt.She sat in front of her mirror and packed her golden brown long hair into a ponytail.She applied little make up to her fair skin,she was about to put on a lip gloss before her mom,Susan, called out from downstairs, "Lisaaa, come downstairs quickly or you'll be late for school on your 'FIRST DAY'. She made sure to emphasize on the last words .Lisa rolled her eyes upstairs, and quickly applied her lip gloss before grabbing her back pack and heading down stairs. Her mom had already placed two pancakes on a plate each, for both of them and set a teapot in the middle."Hurry up with your breakfast lest you'll be late" Susan warned. Lisa replied "I will mom and I won't be late" She was tired of her mom telling her that all the time.She ate a little from her plate before her mom cleared get throat and said "Lisa honey, once you get back from school we'll be going to the Henshaw's house to thank Mr Henshaw for his kindness getting you this scholarship". "Mom but we've already thanked him several times why do we still have to go to his house to thank him again?!" Lisa said in frustrated manner. "We have to , you know fully well that there's no way I would have been able to afford your tuition if not of him."Susan said. "Fine then!" Lisa said shrugging her shoulders. Things has not really been going smoothly for Lisa and her mother after father died in a car accident on his way to work one early Monday morning, when Lisa was thirteen years old, she's eighteen now."Also" ,her mother continued, "we'll be moving into the Henshaw's house this week, to live as a family". "What?!!!" Lisa shouted,"what do you mean by that?" "Well Mr.Henshaw and I have been seeing each other for a while now and it happened that we both fell for each other, he asked me to be his wife and I said yes!" Susan replied "We don't need him! we're doing just fine on our own." said Lisa. "Don't say that, you know perfectly well that we are not, but ever since Mr.Henshaw came into our lives, we barely starved and you've never missed school for once! I want you to have a father figure in your life, and besides...I love him". The last statement made Lisa mad.she stood up picked up her back pack and headed for the door.Her mom called from behind, "Lisa,Lisa, hold on" She opened the door, looked back and said in a teary voice "I hate you".She slammed the door and walked to school. She arrives at the school gate and immediately the tears in her eyes vanished.Stanford school the biggest in the city stood right in front her eyes. "its more bigger than I expected"she said ,amazed.she tightened her grip on her back pack and headed inside the school.In the school were various elite students from prestigious homes.Each in their fancy pair of shoes,designer bags,Gucci sets and other popular brand s. "of course,it's an elite school, what was I expecting"Lisa said as she rolled her eyes. She passed a group of girls who were whispering to each other and giggling about some one or something.she barely paid attention to them and went into her classroom. After the bell rang other students,came into the classroom,she recognized the three girls she had seen earlier, they occupied the seats after the first row.Lisa sat at the back beside an empty seat.There was a particular red head girl among the girls, she ordered the other girls around and they complied.'looks to me,she's the leader' Lisa thought. Class began and the teacher began to teach.He stopped halfway and asked "where's max?" The whole class shrugged indicating their lack of knowledge of his absence.The teacher sighed and continued with his teaching.Then the break hour came, students left the class in a hurry , showing their exhaustion.Lisa was gathering her books when the three girls came and stood at her front. "You the new girl right!" Chloe,the red head, said "yes I am ".Lisa replied barely lifting her head. "How come you just came into our school towards the end of the session?"Chloe asked. Lisa gave no reply. "Anyways" she continued,"I'm Chloe and these two here are Sandy and Mara" Lisa looked at the two girls, Sandy had a short Bob hair,pointed nose and wore this ridiculous nerdy glasses, Mara had long black hair ,bra level and slightly taller then the there girls. "If you're interested in joining the cheerleading squad, you can always come to us" Chole said admist a wide grin. Lisa nodded and headed out for break.she was actually heading to the principal's office when she bumped into a very tall,muscled, handsome guy with black hair and an insane blue bright eye color.She had made him drop the stuffs he was holding which included a result showing he had failed his last English exam. She stared at him for a while before she bent to pick up his books and papers while apologizing. "I'm sorry "she said finally. "maybe next time you look where you're going and not be sorry" he snapped, and collected his things from her. She was taken aback by his reply and snapped back"Excuse me?! I already apologized.well maybe next time you study harder and pass your exams so you won't end up lashing out your emotions on others"she said and walked away. He was a bit surprised by her response,he watched her as she walked away for a while before moving. Break time came to an end, all returned to the class room, Lisa returned from the principal's office and found the guy who she had bumped into earlier seated on the seat which was unoccupied.she let out a you've got to be kidding me sigh.She took her seat beside him . "We meet again"he said. Lisa ignored him. He shut the book Lisa was going through and said"you'll have to apologise for being mean to me earlier"He said. Lisa gave him a dead stare that made him take his hand off her book before saying"I don't apologise to arrogant fools". He was surprised at her response and was about to reply when Chloe came,"Hi Max," she said. Lisa thought 'his the one the teacher inquired about earlier'. "I was kind enough to take notes for you during your absence."She said handing him a note book. "Thanks"he said, not expressing any sign of gratitude, eyes on Lisa. Chloe stared at lisa for some seconds before walking to her seat. Max tried to say something to Lisa but she raised her hands sharply in his face, indicating that he should be quiet. He tried to speak again but this time the teacher called out his name"Max Henshaw,any issue?" He shook his head in negative.Holding back his anger. School closed for the day,Lisa packed her things and headed home immediately already vexed by how things had gone earlier
