Finding Out I'm Pregnant

1247 Words
It's been 3 weeks since Miles and I broke up. I've decided to let go of everything, if it was so easy for him walking away for no good reason, then there's no need for me to hold on. I can't lie, I've been crying since when we broke up, especially when his words ringer in my heard. Nothing hurts more than being rejected by your lover. "It's high I let go of Miles, he showed me that he never cared from the start, but I don't know why I'm failing to to hate him" I talk to myself while lying awake in my bed. I don't know what's wrong with me. It's been 3 weeks now and I'm not getting any better. I need to go see a doctor and find out what's wrong with me. I started feeling nauseous a week before Miles and I broke up and I don't know why, but it's getting worse. But then it's during weekdays, so I have to ask for permission from my boss who's my aunt. I grab my phone which is lying on the table in my room and I deal aunt's line. "Good aunt, I'm sorry I won't manage coming for work tomorrow, I'm really not feeling feeling well. I want to go for a check up tomorrow morning" I tell her with a low voice and she's able to tell that I'm not lying. "Alright dear, get well soon" she grants me the permission and hangs up. Next morning... It's morning already. I wake up to the sound of my alarm. I always wake up on my own before my alarm rings, but lately I have become so lazy. The other day I almost got late for work because I literally woke up around 7am instead of 5am. Luckily I start working at 8:30am. "ahhhh-hhaaaa" I yawn while getting off my bed to prepare myself to go see a doctor. I quickly take a shower, though these days I do things in a lazy way. I'm done preparing myself and I've had my breakfast. Mom is wondering why I haven't gone for work, yet she's not asking me. "Mom, today I'm not going for work. I feel sick, so I'm going for a check up to the clinic" I tell mom while picking my small handbag from the couch. "Yes I have noticed that and I was gonna ask you that yesterday, but then you slept early" she confirms that I do look sick. "Should I escort you my dear?" she ask me as she wants to come along. Mom is always the one that takes me to the clinic whenever I'm not feeling well. "No mom, I will be fine don't worry" I tell her as I just want to go alone, for some reasons I don't feel like taking anyone along. I reply her and leave without giving her a chance to interject. I arrive at the clinic and take a sit on one of the bench in the clinic whole way. I look around, but there no sign of any doctor so I just playing games on my phone as I wait for the doctor. It's been 5 minutes but it feels like 5 hour. I hear the sound of footsteps and I quickly turn to see who's coming, it's the doctor in her lab Cort. Soon she reaches where I'm sitting and give me a small but genuine smile. "Hey doctor Bridget, how are you" I greet her as soon as she stands next to where I'm sitting. Doctor Bridget is more of a family doctor was she's the one who attends to my family whenever one is not okay. "Oh hello Amira, I'm fine thank you and how are you?" she replies back to me. "I'm okay but I haven't been feeling well for the past 3 weeks now, so I decided to come for a check up" I tell her. "yes I can see" she agrees. She's a doctor, so definitely when someone is sick, I'm pretty sure she's able to tell. "Ok let's check you up real quick. Come to my office" she tells me as she starts going towards her office. It's been about 20 minutes since the doctor checked me and I'm just waiting for my results as I've gone back to playing a game on my phone. A sound of a door is heard when the door opens. "Amira your results are ready now and I've got good news for you" she tells me when coming from the lab. "Uhmmm good news?" I'm surprised, I mean when did being sick became good news, I don't get it. I'm looking at her, waiting for her to tell me what the good news is. "Well Amira Banda you're one month pregnant. Congratulations" she announces the so called good news with a smile on her face but I honestly think I didn't hear her right. "What! I-I-I I'm pre-pr-pregnant?" my whole body trembles as I try not to believe her. Oh my God. My walls are trembling and I just can't believe what my ears are hearing right now. "No doctor, there must be a mistake, check again maybe you have swapped the results" the doctor's words just sent shivers to my spine and coldness to my skin. How's that possible, how did I something like this to happen? And I'm I going to tell my parents. They trust me so much. My anxiety becomes times 2 as I just remembered Miles and I broke up 3 weeks ago and I'm sure he has even moved on now as he had made it clear that he doesn't want me anymore. "My God, what I'm I going to do now? How am I going to tell my parents and how do I tell Miles?" I feel my legs trembling at the thought of everything. I can't even hear what the doctor is saying anymore. I feel a touch of a hand on my shoulder that snapped me out of my deep thoughts and I finally here the doctor asking "Amira my dear can you hear me?". I'm still lost, but I've heard what the doctor asked me. "Wh-wh-what?" What...are you saying?" I ask her as I snap out of my thoughts. "Are you alright my dear? I am asking you if your man, the owner of the pregnancy is aware already or not. Is he around?" the doctor asks as she has noticed my disturbed facial expression. "Well, Miles and I broke up 3 weeks ago, but I didn't know I was pregnant. We were having misunderstandings and I couldn't take it anymore. But when I wanted to us to patch things up, he had already moved on. He never loved me, but I couldn't see that part because I was so lost in love" I feel my cheeks covered in tears, but I can't stop them from coming out. "Oh... That's re bad. So what's your way forward? Do you want to abort the pregnancy?" the doctor asks me. Hello no! My baby is innocent, why should it suffer for my sins. I would rather loose everything than loosing my baby. "Never! I would never think of such a thing. I'm keeping my baby" I reply with a different tone of voice and she can tell that I've gotten pissed off over her questions as she has seen the sudden change in my voice and my facial expression.
