Dear Mr. Editor,
Will you please correct my composition and spelling and publish these words in your newspaper? You will see I never had the benefit of an education as it was cut short when a foreign power, which I need not name, invaded my country, and I was forced to take up arms to defend her.
Sometimes a few newspapers reach me in this far-flung place, and from those I see that me and my brother supposedly robbed a*****e in Cass County some weeks ago. We are likewise accused of robbing the train at Gads Hill, the Gallatin bank, the one at Ste. Genevieve, & some others over in Kentucky. But of all these crimes we are innocent, and anyone who is not a fool can see that we would need some sort of a
