A Curious Happening at Garth & Carp’s
Among the more popular exhibits at Garth & Carp’s Amusement Gardens in Rio Nido, is one featuring a man who is alleged to be the notorious outlaw Jesse James. When interviewed by your reporter in May, this man told a convincing story and was unerring in relating the events that occurred in the life of the famed outlaw. He seemed to be about the right age and, in appearance, seemed sturdy enough to have once led the outlaw life.
Mr. Garth, of the Gardens, as we then reported, met the alleged Jesse on the Duck Valley Indian reservation in Nevada almost a year ago and, before bringing him to California, did all that was humanly possible to ascertain the truth of his story.
