What would you do if someone killed the one you love? For Hunter Morgan, Revenge is the only answer.

"You'll become a monster just like I did Hunter. Lucky for you Adrienne will be there to keep that beast tamed because a monster without a purpose is...dangerous."

If Sandy's words of wisdom ring true...how dangerous will Hunter become without the love of his life Adrienne?

"I’ve never felt so much hate and anger towards one person in my life. I hate Cole with every inch of my soul. If I’m not thinking about Adrienne, I’m thinking about him. Thinking about when I’m going to kill him, how I’m going to kill him. Will I give him a quick death or will I torture him slowly? Every night since she’s been gone, I sit in this room drunk on whiskey, memories, and acts of torture."

Options, Options, I'm a girl who loves options lol. Again, thanks for being patient with me and let me know what you guys think about the cover in the comments =D -Gio Previously on The Monster's Obsession: Hunter POV I raced down the highway with Taylor being the only thing on my mind. How the hell did he get to her? She was under a 24 hour watch. We knew who came in and out of that room at all times. How did we slip up? I dialed Sandy’s number and waited until I heard her voice blare through the speaker. “How the f**k did this happen Sandy?” I snapped. “I’m trying to figure that out myself. There’s no way he got through, not with all the security we have there.” “It has to be someone on the inside. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me.” I said. There was a brief pause before she spoke again. “You’re probably right. I’ll look into this and get back to you as soon as I can. Until then stay vigilant. Everyone is a threat at this point.” From the tone of her voice I could tell that she wanted to find this person just as much as I did.  “How’s Adrienne?” I asked, worried about how she was taking all of this.  “She’s trying to put on a brave face but she’s not good. Who would be after everything she’s been through.” “Yeah, I know. Just keep a close eye on her, the more things happen, the more restless she gets. She’s going to want to end this so no one else gets hurt, but we both know that won’t solve anything. So just watch her.” “I won’t let her out of my sight. Keep me posted on Taylor.”  Once we hung up I was only a block away from the hospital. I pulled into the parking lot and my heart began to race. I didn’t know what I was going to be walking into. Was she going to be okay? What did he do to her? How much more did she need to suffer? All these questions were running through my mind as I rushed up to her room. I barged in causing the door to fly open and Taylor jumped in surprise. “Holy s**t Hunter! You scared the hell out of me! What’s wrong with you? What’s going on?” I walked up to the bed and examined her, trying to make out if there were any visible signs that something happened to her. “Who was here today?” I asked while I looked at the machines attached to her. “Chris was here earlier but then he left. He said he would be back after he ran some errands. Why? What’s going on?” Her eyes were wide with confusion. ‘Chris? Could it be him?’ I started looking around the room for cameras or any sign of something out of place. At the same time, trying to avoid answering Taylor’s questions. It’s not that I didn’t want to tell her, actually I knew that she needed to know. I just felt so bad for her and I wondered how much more she could handle. This girl has been through the ringer and now I needed to tell her that she wasn’t even safe in a hospital room that’s being watched 24/7. “Hunter, you’re starting to piss me off. Tell me what the f**k is going on right now.” I turned around and looked at her before taking a deep breath and pulling my phone out of my pocket. “This picture was taken of you today and sent to Adrienne.” As quickly as she took the phone from me, she gave it back.  “Cole took that picture?” She asked, casting her eyes down. “We don’t know if he took the picture himself but we know that he was the one who sent it to Adrienne. He’s trying to lure her out.” She didn’t say anything. She just kept looking down at the blankets covering her body. My heart ached for her. I didn’t know what to do or what to say but I know I didn’t want to leave her right now. I sat down on the chair next to her bed. I didn’t say anything. I just wanted her to know that she wasn’t alone. After a few minutes I decided to break the silence. “Do you want me to call Adrienne for you? I know she’s probably losing her mind right now.” Her eyes finally lifted and landed on me before she nodded her head. I gave her a small smile before pulling out my phone. I dialed Adrienne’s number and passed it to Taylor. Adrienne POV I got into my car and started driving to the place I used to call home. My mind couldn’t help but to wander to Hunter. I was walking into the monster’s den so deep down I knew I was probably never going to see him again. A tear escaped and fell down my cheek as I thought about the pain he would feel once he found out I left. No goodbye, nothing. The guilt started to become overwhelming but I knew it had to be this way. Cole only wants me. Everyone else will be safe once he gets what he wants. My phone started to vibrate on the center console. I picked it up and saw Hunter’s name displayed across it. My heart immediately started racing. I couldn’t hide anything from him so my first instinct was to not answer, but me not answering would also put him on high alert.  ‘Alright Adrienne, it’s time to put on your Oscar-Winning performance.’ I picked up the phone and tried to act as frantic as I could. Which wasn’t hard to do being that I already was. “Hey is she okay? What happened?” I asked without even saying hello. “I’m alright Dri. You could calm down now.” When I heard Taylor’s voice on the other end I felt a huge weight lift off me. Not only because Taylor was okay but because it was her that was calling and not Hunter. “T, thank God you’re okay. I was so worried.” I whimpered. She didn’t say anything. “T?” “I can’t take this anymore. He’s everywhere. He’s never gonna let us go.” She cried. I could tell she was trying to keep it together but her emotions were getting the best of her and my heart broke. “I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault. I never wanted any of this to happen to you or anyone. You’ll be fine T, we’re going to make sure you’re safe okay? I promise.” “You can’t promise that. I know you want it to be true but it’s pretty obvious that we don’t know what the hell he’s thinking and what he has planned. He could end me tomorrow and we won’t even see it coming.” She was right, he could make a move tomorrow and we’ll be like sitting ducks. Her words only made me more confident about my actions. “Where’s Hunter?” I asked her, changing the subject. “He stepped out to see if he could get the surveillance tapes from the last few nights. I don’t think he’s going to find anything though.” “You gotta have more faith than that T. He’ll find something, you just have to trust him.” “And then what?”  “And then we’ll go from there. I know you’re scared but we’ll get through this. Don’t give up on us yet okay?” “Okay.” I could hear how defeated she felt in just that one word. I knew I was losing her. “I’ll be there soon. Tell Hunter not to leave your side until I get there.” “I love you T. Don’t ever forget that.” I was getting choked up but if this was the last time I was going to talk to her, I wanted her to know that. “I love you too. See you soon.” As I continued driving Taylor’s words played in my head over and over again. Her words were the fuel that kept my foot on the pedal. I was going to keep her and everyone that I love safe. I wanted Taylor’s suffering to stop, even if that meant my life would end. She deserved to finally have a peaceful life. Hunter POV After arguing with the head of security for about a half hour, I was finally able to see the surveillance footage of the traffic in and out of Taylor’s room. There wasn’t anyone suspicious, just her usual nurses and Chris like she said.  We've looked into the backgrounds of all the doctors and nurses and everyone came up clean. How the f**k did he get in? Maybe someone messed with the footage. I had the security officer send me all the footage within the last couple of weeks. Alex and I could look at it all later in my computer room. I made my way back to Taylor's room. I figured after hearing from Taylor, Adrienne should be here already. I opened the door and walked in. Rosa was sitting on the bed next to Taylor holding her in a tight hug. No Adrienne though. "Hunter! Hey, how are you?" Rosa asked as she let go of Taylor. "I'm good. How 'bout you? Where’s Carlos?" "Eh, could be better.” She shrugged. “And Carlos is still at work. He’ll be here later." "Did Adrienne get here yet?" I asked. "No. I spoke to her about an hour ago. She should have been here already." Taylor interjected as she tried to sit up. Rosa got up to help her. I saw my phone on the stand next to Taylor's bed and walked over to grab it. I don't know why but my heart started to race as I dialed Adrienne’s number. The call went straight to voicemail. I tried three more times and the same result. Something's wrong. Where is she? "Taylor, what did Adrienne say when you spoke to her?" I anxiously asked her. "Nothing really. She just wanted me to tell you to stay with me until she got here. Why? What happened?"  "She's running." I quickly opened the new tracking app I installed on my phone. The charm bracelet I got Adrienne wasn't just a bracelet. I put a small tracking device in it also. Ever since we found out Cole and Laura are working together, she’s been extremely antsy with this whole thing. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to be able to keep her still for much longer.  I'm just glad I was able to give her the bracelet before it came to this. The tracker had her going in the completely opposite direction of the hospital. "Hunter, what's going on? Where's my daughter? What do you mean she's running? Running where?" Rosa was throwing back to back questions at me with panic spread all over her face.  "I’m pretty sure she went to find Cole. She’s been feeling guilty about everything that's been going on, thinking that it’s her fault. She thinks if she gives herself up everyone will be safe." Rosa's hand raised to her heart as tears began to drop from her eyes. "He's going to kill my little girl." Her voice was barely a whisper but the pain behind it screamed at you. “Why didn’t you tell me she was feeling like this?! I could have talked to her! I could have stopped her!” Rosa was yelling at me and I didn’t blame her. She was hurting and right now I was the easiest person to blame. I’m sure it’s not easy knowing your child is in danger and there’s nothing you can do about it. “Tia stop!” Taylor cried out. “He didn’t know, and you know how Adrienne is, she would have gone regardless if it meant saving us.” "I'm going to find her Rosa. I won't let anything happen to her." I rested my hand on the side of her shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "Stay here with Taylor. I'll come back with Adrienne. Don't worry." I left the room and called Alex on my way to the parking lot. I gave him the most recent location of the bracelet and told him to make his way there. I knew we would meet up eventually. After I got off the phone with him I called Sandy. I needed to tell her what was going on.  “Hunter! I’ve been trying to call you! Adrienne’s gone.” “Yeah, I know. So much for keeping an eye on her.” She was about to give me an explanation but I cut her off. I knew this wasn’t her fault and to be honest now wasn’t the time to hear explanations, I just needed to catch up with Adrienne. “I’m tracking her through the bracelet but she has a pretty big head start. I gave Alex her location, so we’re going to eventually meet up. Hopefully I could get to her before she does something stupid-- but Sandy, the time to move is now.” **** As I sped down the highway following the GPS, my adrenaline started to spike. Adrienne had at least an hour or two on me. There was no way I was going to catch up. Cole was definitely going to get his hands on her. My grip on the steering wheel tightened as the heat from my anger started to rise in my body. How could she be so stupid? What does she think she can do against him? My blood boiled as I thought about that asshole’s hands all over her but if I’m being completely honest with myself I was scared. I’ve never felt so scared in my life. Cole was unpredictable and now that he has her, anything can happen. Two swift high beeps from the GPS pulled my attention. The words ‘Signal Lost’ were plastered across the screen and my heart dropped. “f**k!” I screamed and slammed my fist on the steering wheel. That was the only thing connecting me to her and it was gone. I felt everything slipping through my fingers and I wasn’t able to do s**t. Before I completely lost my mind I called Sandy again. She picked up almost immediately. “He has her.” I hissed. “What about the bracelet?” “The signal is lost.” She didn’t say anything but I could hear the air leave her lungs. After a few minutes I heard her take a deep breath. “She’s trying to protect everyone.” She sighed. I can tell she barely believed the words she was saying. “I can’t lose her Sandy. I won’t lose her. I need to know every property he’s ever owned. His parents, his brother, EVERYTHING. The signal dropped near LA and I know he has a few properties over there. Send me those first. Alex shouldn’t be too far behind me so we can split them up.” “Okay. I’ll get that to you as soon as possible.”  “Thanks.” For some reason, neither of us hung up the phone. “She’s gonna be okay, right Sandy?” I don’t know why but I needed her reassurance. “She’s a fighter Hunter. She won’t leave us this soon.” After a few more minutes Sandy and I finally hung up. She was right Adrienne is a fighter. I just need her to hold on for me. ‘I’ll come get you baby, just hold on.’ I continued speeding down the highway until a lane of stand-still traffic caused me to stop abruptly. There was a cloud of black smoke filling the sky. Lights from the ambulance and cop cars reflected off the fog. This was the worst possible time for me to get stuck in a traffic jam.  I got out of my truck and walked towards the scene to see if there was a way I could get out of this. My face paled and my knees got weak as I got closer and saw a flipped-over blue 1993 Toyota Corolla catching fire. “Adrienne.”  Everything faded into the background as I ran to the burning car. I could feel hands on me trying to stop me but I pushed through all of them. The closer I got the more I could see her limp body. She was unconscious. Her hair was covering her face and there was blood everywhere. I kept running to her but all of a sudden a loud explosion knocked me back. I got up barely able to breathe and my ears were ringing uncontrollably. None of that stopped me though. I needed to get to Adrienne. The car was now consumed by flames. I tried to walk but every step became harder than the last. My eyes went to her arm that was slightly hanging from the window. The rose charm bracelet was the last thing the fire burned. ‘No. It can’t be her.’ My legs gave out and my knees hit the ground. I didn’t move. I didn’t blink. I didn’t breathe. My knees were glued to the cement as I watched flames wrap around her burning body. ‘Please it’s not her.’ A pair of hands were wrapped around me trying to lift me up from the ground but I was completely numb. I couldn’t move nor did I want to. I just kept looking at the burning car. The flames were so high and intense that I could barely see her body anymore. “Come on bud. We gotta move, it's too dangerous here.” I could hear Alex’s voice push through the sound-proof barrier surrounding my thoughts. He dragged me behind the caution tape so the firefighters could put out the flames. I don’t know how long he’s been there for but he was the only thing bringing me back to reality. He held out his hand so that I could grab it but I just looked at him and back at the burning car. I shook my head. “I can’t leave her.” My voice was hoarse. “She’s gone Hunter. There’s nothing you could do right now.” His words were like a jagged-edge knife stabbing my already crumbling heart. The pain was unbearable. I let out a murderous yell. I yelled until I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what to feel. It was like my whole world was falling apart and I wanted to fall with it. For some reason a conversation that I had with Sandy played in my head. ‘You’ll become a monster just like I did Hunter. Lucky for you Adrienne will be there to keep that beast tamed because a monster without a purpose is...dangerous.’ Adrienne was my purpose. I knew she was from the first moment I laid eyes on her. Now that she’s gone the void that she left is filled with anger for the person who took her from me. Right now that anger was the only thing pushing me to take these next steps. I looked for Alex and found him talking to one of the officers at the scene. As I walked closer to them I could tell Alex was getting frustrated. “Okay so I’m going to repeat what you just told me to make sure I’m on the same page. You guys think she lost control of the vehicle, the car flipped over and then caught fire? Simple, done, cased closed?” The officer nodded his head. Alex’s demeanor was calm and collected but I could tell he was about to lose it. “Officer...Martin is it?” He asked rhetorically while looking at his badge. “Are you shitting me? You said she lost control, how did that happen? Where are the tire marks? Something! The road is completely clear! How the hell can you just rule it off as an accident when there’s nothing pointing to that?!”  The officer’s face was getting red. I wasn’t sure if it was from anger or embarrassment but I knew he wasn’t going to be much help after this. Which was fine because I knew who did this and I didn’t want to put him in jail. I wanted to kill him. I pulled out my phone to check if Sandy had gotten me those addresses. There were two that she sent me. One was in Santa Monica and the other was in San Marino. “Alex!” I yelled out. He was still arguing with Officer Martin. He turned his head to face me and I raised my head letting him know it was time to move. I think I called him at the perfect time because any longer and I’m pretty sure Officer Martin would have put him in cuffs. “Where we heading?” He asked before taking a few deep breaths to calm down. I passed him my phone to show him Cole’s possible locations. “The Monster’s Den.”
