Blurb

From the moment Elara Quinn crosses paths with Adrian Voss, something in her life begins to shift in ways she cannot explain, not suddenly or loudly, but slowly and deliberately, like she has stepped into something that was already in motion long before she realized it.

Adrian Voss is not a man who chases, yet he is always there, appearing where he shouldn’t be, knowing things he was never told, moving with a level of control that turns coincidence into something far more dangerous, and the more Elara notices, the more it becomes clear that this was never random.

When she uncovers a hidden truth about her past, one that connects her to a world she was never meant to know, everything begins to unravel, forcing her to face a reality where power controls everything and freedom is nothing more than an illusion.

Adrian was never meant to want her, only to watch her, but obsession changes everything, and now the man who was sent to observe her has become the only thing standing between her and a world that doesn’t give second chances.

Because in this world… People aren’t chosen.

They’re claimed.

Chapter 1
Something felt wrong the moment Elara stepped into the room. She tried to ignore it because everything around her looked normal with soft lights glowing and people laughing like nothing bad had ever touched their lives, but the feeling stayed, and it sat quietly under her skin like something waiting for her to notice it. She told herself it was just because she did not belong here, and maybe her mind was trying to remind her of that in the worst way possible, but even as she adjusted her dress and tried to act like she fit in, the feeling did not go away and that was what started to bother her more than anything else. Elara reached for a glass from a passing tray just to give her hands something to do, she lifted it slowly to her lips hoping it would calm her down, but it did nothing except make her more aware of the fact that something was still wrong. Because it was not just a feeling anymore, it was a presence. Someone was watching her and not in the normal way people look at each other in a crowded place but in a way that felt steady and focused like their attention had locked onto her and refused to move. She kept her face calm because reacting would only make it real and she did not want that, so she moved her eyes slowly across the room pretending to look at everything else while she searched for the source without making it obvious. There were too many people and too many faces and nothing looked out of place, but the feeling only grew stronger and sharper like whoever it was had no reason to hide and that made something uneasy twist in her chest. Her grip tightened slightly around the glass as her gaze moved again and then it stopped without warning like something inside her had made the decision before she could. He stood across the room away from the crowd and he was not doing anything special, but the moment her eyes landed on him she knew it was him even though she could not explain how she knew. He was not talking, he was not moving, he was just standing there watching her like he had been doing it for a while and had no intention of stopping. Elara looked away quickly because holding his gaze felt like a mistake she would regret, but even after she turned away the feeling did not leave her and it only got worse like distance did not matter. Her heart started beating faster and she tried to tell herself she was imagining it because people do not watch strangers like that without a reason, but the thought did not sit right with her. Because this did not feel random, it felt like something was planned, like this moment had already happened somewhere else before she walked into it. She shifted slightly and turned again just enough to look at him without making it obvious, and when her eyes found him he had not moved at all and something about that made the tension in her chest tighten even more. He was still watching her, he was still focused, he was still there... and that was when something changed. Because this time, when their eyes met, he did not look away, not even for a second, and the look in his eyes was not curiosity or interest or anything normal that she could understand. It was something else; something deeper, something that made it feel like he already knew her even though she had never seen him before in her life. Elara broke the eye contact first because holding it felt like falling into something she would not be able to climb out of and she tried to steady her breathing, but it did not work because the feeling inside her had already shifted into something heavier. This was not normal, nothing about this was normal. And the worst part was that she could not look away for long because something kept pulling her attention back to him, like her body already knew something her mind had not caught up with yet. So she looked again, and he was still there, still watching, still locked on her like she was the only person in the room that existed. For the first time that night a thought crossed her mind that made her stomach tighten in a way she could not ignore. This did not feel like the beginning of something, it felt like she had just stepped into something that had already started long before she even knew it existed, and somewhere across the room Adrian Voss watched her like this moment was nothing new to him and like everything was going exactly the way he expected. And that was when Elara realized something that made her chest go cold., He was not just watching her, he was waiting and she had no idea what for. But whatever it was. She had just walked straight into it.
