chapter one Selene’s Sorrow
Blue moonlight bathed the continent of Atlantis, casting the vast land in an otherworldly and mysterious glow.
Mist hung thickly over the forest.
Under the blue moonlight, it looked like a vast blue labyrinth.
A gentle breeze swept across the lake, stirring eerie blue ripples across its surface.
Beneath the water, shadows shifted restlessly as unknown aquatic creatures greedily absorbed the blue moonlight, as though the strange radiance held some extraordinary benefit for them.
Seven moons hung in the night sky, yet only the blue moon shone brightly.
The other six could only be seen as faint, hazy outlines.
There are seven moons in the sky above the continent of Atlantis.
The Red Moon, the Orange Moon, the Yellow Moon, the Green Moon, the Blue Moon, the Indigo Moon, and the Violet Moon.
Each of the seven moons ruled over the night of a different day of the week.
Whenever the sun set and darkness descended upon the land, one of the seven colored moons would rise in the sky.
Monday belonged to the Red Moon, Tuesday to the Orange Moon, and so on, until Sunday, when the Violet Moon took its turn.
Since ancient times, the seven colored moons had risen and fallen in succession, bearing witness to the rise and fall of countless races across the continent of Atlantis.
No one knew where the seven moons had come from.
Just as no one knew the origin of the continent of Atlantis itself.
The seven moons, each glowing in a different color, alone had witnessed the glory and downfall of this vast land.
They had also witnessed the countless laughter and tears of those who lived beneath their light.
As the eastern horizon gradually began to brighten, the blue moonlight slowly faded.
The seven moons gradually disappeared from view, and the sun began to reign over the continent once more.
A new day is coming.
The sunlight traveled from east to west, passing through the forests and gliding gently across the lakes until it reached the territory of the Lowland Werewolves.
The sunlight streamed through the window, spilling across the woman lying in bed.
She was a beautiful woman in her twenties.
Her long red hair was as striking as burning flames, while her oval face was framed by delicate, refined features.
Her long eyelashes fluttered gently in the sunlight.
Beneath her small, delicate nose were a pair of full, luscious lips that brought to mind ripe, juicy cherries.
A beautiful woman in the prime of her youth like her should have been blooming freely like a gorgeous rose, living a carefree and happy life.
After all, who could bear to make such a beautiful woman suffer?
Yet her tightly closed eyes beneath those long lashes and the deep furrow between her brows revealed that her mind was far from peaceful.
Tear stains from the previous night still marked her face, leaving her porcelain-pale, delicate skin with a faintly sickly pallor.
The winter sunlight held not a trace of warmth, yet it seemed to offer the poor woman lying in bed a small measure of comfort, gently easing the tension in her tightly furrowed brows.
Selene slowly opened her eyes, still dazed and groggy, only to feel as though her entire head were about to explode.
Pain and dizziness overwhelmed her.
She had barely slept all night.
The piercing agony felt as though it would tear her entire body apart.
She had tossed and turned in torment, weeping and crying out in anguish beneath the fractured blue moonlight.
She had begged her mate not to hurt her like this.
But her pleas received no response.
Her mate had blocked their mindlink.
Because at that moment, he was busy f*****g another she-wolf.
On the very same floor, not far from her room, her mate was f*****g another she-wolf.
Cheating
Betrayal.
Infidelity.
He knew exactly how much this would hurt her—his fated mate.
Yet, he did it anyway.
Without a shred of guilt, acting as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Every full moon, Selene's mate, Remy, would spend the night in Sarah's room.
Sarah was the widow of his older brother, Alex.
Alex had been Alpha Luke's eldest son and the pack's future Alpha.
But a month ago, he had been ambushed by rogues while patrolling the pack's territory.
By the time Remy arrived with reinforcements, only Alex's cold corpse remained.
Remy naturally stepped into his brother's shoes, becoming the heir to the Alpha.
Oh, and he inherited that b***h along with it.
"Selene, I hope you understand. Remy is just so thoughtful and kind; he's only trying to comfort me since I just lost my husband." Sarah's hypocritical, ugly face still flashed before Selene's eyes.
Yeah, I certainly understand.
It's just that the "comfort" Remy offered you wasn't words—it was his c**k.
"selene, you're the pack's future Luna; I need you to be magnanimous. Sarah just lost her mate—she needs comfort." Remy's words stung Selene like needles.
I really should be magnanimous, shouldn't I?
After all, you just "accidentally" slipped your little teaspoon into that b***h's cunt and gave it a stir.
It's not a big deal.
Sex helps relieve stress. You guys certainly found the most effective way to offer comfort.
A bitter smile tugged at the corners of Selene's lips.
She couldn't help taking a deep breath before covering her face with both hands, as though doing so could help her escape reality, if only for a moment.
How had her life come to this?
How had she become such a pathetic woman?
A bitter, resentful wife?
A miserable woman betrayed by her own mate?
A complete loser?
