Saving Grace Point

I had nowhere to go and very little money. I knew I had to get out before he came back. I did what I thought was best and went to the bus station. I bought a ticket and got on the bus to who knows where. I was hoping it was far enough that Brett would not come looking for me or his unborn child. I was sitting on the grayhound bus looking out the window when all of a sudden the night sky lit up. Great, there was going to be a thunderstorm, and I was not too fond of them. Trying to get my mind off the approaching storm, I wondered how I fell so hard for Brett. Brett was a big CEO (well I thought at the time) and I was just a nobody. I was applying for a assistant position in his company when I ran into him. I was running a little behind and ran right into him. Brett was tall he had to be 6 feet. He had light brown skin, and hair that you could run your hands through. When I ran into him I fell right on my butt. The way our eyes locked I knew he was the one. We dated up until tonight, when I left him. He was being abusive to me. He would hit me, punch me, spit on me and that was just physical. He verbally abused me as well. He would call me a fat b***h, slut and any other words that were down grading. I never considered myself fat. I had a curvy body, my boobs were a handful and I had a big ass. I loved my body more than anything until Brett called me all those names. That night at his house, I had taken a pregnancy test, when those two pink lines showed I knew I had to protect myself and my unborn baby. But like the person I was, I left the test on the bathroom counter. I knew Brett would find it when he came home. I knew he would come looking for me, but I had to try and save us (me and my unborn baby). *Crack* *Boom* That jerked me away from my thoughts real quick. The storm was already here and the rain was coming down like cats and dogs. As the rain was coming down, the bus driver was having a hard time driving. I felt the bus slide and thought this was going to be it. The bus would crash and this would be the end. The bus driver got the bus under control and made an announcement. The rain is getting to bad, so he was going to pull over at the next stop. Fianlly the bus came to the next stop, a little diner in the middle of no where. Well, I guess I could get off and make this place my new home. It was in the middle of no where and Brett would have a hard time finding me. I think I have $200 in wallet that I found and what was left that Brett didn't take. The diner on the outside looked like a 50s diner. Walking into the diner it looked like a typical diner. You has a counter that had stools and then you had booths. The booths was red and white checkered. The waitress said to just go and set wherever and she would be right with us. I found a booth close to the back and slide in. Maybe no one would notice that I stayed behind. "Howdy and welcome to Rugbay's The best and only diner in town. My name is Mary, What can I get ya hun." the waitress said," "Actually I'm not that hungry, Do you happen to know if there is a B&B around here or a hotel?" I asked her. "Oh darling, I'm sorry to tell ya, but the B&B is booked and we don't have any hotels. But I do know of this ranch that might have a spare room." she said. "Oh okay. Um you don't happen to have the number do you?" I asked her. Right as I said that in walked the most handsome looking man I have every seen. (Yes, I am running from a man but this one just looked different.) Mary turned around and started to say sit anywhere. But then she turned her head and looked back at me. "Actually here comes the owner." Mary said. "Luke! Hey *waving her hand to motion him over here* come here." Mary yelled. Great she going to cause everyone to look over here. I'm trying to keep a low profile so Brett has no idea where to find. But here she is making a scene and I just know everyone is looking. I look up to find no one is looking, they could care less on what is going on. As I look here comes that tall and handsome cowboy over. Luke was wearing a black cowboy hat, button up wrangler shirt with tight ranger jeans and Justin boots. His jeans was so tight I thought they would bust open. He gave Mary a hug and extended a hand to me. "Howdy ma'am I'm Luke." I shook his hand and I could tell he was a hard worker. His hands where calloused and rough. "Hi my name is Annabeth" I said. Mary looked a Luke and said "Annabeth needs a place to stay and I figured you might have an extra room." I looked a Luke and could tell that he was conflicted but then something changed. "Sure. It won't be ready until tomorrow but I will have someplace for you tonight." He told me.
