Two Worlds Collide.

“ We`ve finally received the autopsy. Want to take a look?” Paul Jenkins, Police Chief on duty, always dreamed about becoming a cop. He was proud of his uniform and did his best to honor his badge, but he dreaded every November since he got transferred to the Mount Khount district. Almost 3 decades on duty were not enough to prepare him for the cruelty taking place at the Karask Festival. “Thank You Chief…” The younger investigator sent by the government was nothing like Paul was expecting for someone with his background. This kid standing reading the report and making notes on the white board could easily be on the cover of some horny teen magazine. “Do you really don’t mind if I check again with the fed`s about you?” Paul knew the answer would be the same but, he just could not accept it. He was not jealous or anything like that. He was actually glad to have someone else taking care of those cases but, he just couldn`t fit the face with the credentials. The special investigator stopped taking notes and smiled, looking at the older man. “Not at all, Chieff.” He was used to it. Getting judgments by his looks was part of life, and being honest it always made his job easier, people tend to trust pretty faces faster..”We know they will give you the same answer they gave yesterday, but, do what you have to do in order to be at ease.” “I hope you don`t mind my disbelief, but I have a son, around your age…God helps me if my wife hears me saying this, but the prick can`t wash his own dirty underwear.” Chieff Jenkins loved his son, but he was not one to turn a blind eye to his son`s lack of will to be someone. “My father, on the other hand, keeps complaining that I am never home…”To this, they both laugh .”I think our job as Sons is to just make yours life less boring in a way?!” he offered with a perfect smile. A knock on the door interrupted their bonding moment. “Chieff, the files you asked for are ready. Do you want me to deliver them to your office?” “No need officer Anderson, bring them to Agent Lawson. And please be sure to provide anything the Agent asks.” The officer saluted both the officials and went on his way to take the files. “You know chief, I was wondering…” Agent Lawson started without taking his eyes from the board. “After two years without incidents why now? It`s not even November yet.” “He never really stopped his seasonal killing.” Paul answered after taking a long breath.”We just didn`t report it to the media.”Allas Karask was a pain in his ass, and he hated to admit it, but after 7 years working in this town, he began to believe that this place and it`s people were just cursed. “And it`s not the first time he kills in a random date.” Lawson didn`t know that. The FBI files were incomplete and messy, he knew he would have a lot of work with the Legendary Allas, but he just hoped it would be a little less complicated “What do you mean with is not the first time he kills at a random date?” “Fifteen years ago he made quite a mess at the town bridge.” Paul hated to remember this particular case. The police chief at the time killed himself after failing to close that one, a huge number of officers begged to be transferred, and he had to study those godforsaken files before starting his duty in this beautiful town. “Two victims, a couple. Male not older than forty, female around 32. It`s the only Chain Link case that had a survivor… But no one had the heart to call her for a statement…She was so..”his voice started to fail, discomfort evident in the way he scratch the back os his graying hair. “Small. Those pictures still haunt me to these days.” “ Said files are among the pile officer Anderson is bringing to me, I suppose…”Agent Lawson could see the fear and dread crossing Chief Jenkins`s eyes while he whispered a `of course`. “Then I think that it will be all for today, Chief. Go home, take some rest and leave this bastard with me.” All he could do for the older officer was offer an understanding smile. “Yes, thank you for that.” Cleaning his throat, Chieff Jenkins walked to the door.”Just one piece of advice… Be careful about that investigation. You are not the first Special Agent they sent here. Others before you have gone insane or just died. If it is too much for you, go home. Just go home.” “I appreciate your concern.” The younger smiled. “ Don`t worry, I promise I will do my best not to screw things up.” Hours later, he was alone in his new office. Gruesome pictures scattered around, victims’ photos on the board, names, dates and places connected in an ever-growing web. The haunted file from fifteen years ago was something he was not prepared to go through. Shaking with frustration, Lawson grabbed his cell phone and made the one call he didn`t ever think he would have to make. “Sorry to call you this late. But I need your help.” He said before the person on the other side could complain. “ Oh!That`s okay honey, I was finishing a patient report.” The soothing voice on the other side was welcoming “Now you tell me, what can I do for you Jax?” “It`s Milla.” he knew that it would be a long and difficult conversation, but without her help he would be doomed to fail in this mission. “I just finish reading Her mother's death report.” “Oh…” Dr Hayes didn`t expect to hear that… especially from him.”I am sorry that you had to read that Jax. I know your line of work is really unpredictable and given your past with Milla, I understand that reading it must be disturbing to say the least, but aside from helping you get over it, I don`t see how I can be of any assistance.” “I volunteer to take this case, Doc.” he could hear the woman gasping on the other side.” And I already expected it to be a challenging mission. I`m just being nice, and warning you that I’ll call her in to make a statement. She will need you.“ Jax didn't wait for the answer, he had an idea about what it would be and he couldn`t risk being reprimanded for his actions. He needed to stay focused and impartial. He needed to put his heart and memories aside and keep doing his job. Glancing at his screen protector, he smiled. His picture with Milla made his heart warm, memories of the years they spent together flooding in. “I miss you kitten.”
