ORIANE “Are you girls ready?” A soft knock rapped on the door, accompanied by the already too familiar voice. Vale’s. “Yes,” Brianna replied, and I took deep breaths, grabbing my silver clutch purse. Brianna opened the door, and we stepped out to meet Vale in the living room. He looked dashing in a tuxedo, and he had changed his hairstyle and had a stud on. He was the kind of guy every girl would willingly fall at his feet, and to think he was mine. My reaction to seeing him was nothing compared to the expression on his face as I approached. He looked lost in my appearance and couldn’t take his eyes off me. That I was able to draw this kind of reaction from a guy, a handsome one at that, was a thrill, one I was relishing in, and would relive a thousand times over. “Well, shall we?” Brianna once again came to the rescue, breaking the ice and the tension that had grown. I was beginning to get uneasy. “You look stunning,” he cleared his throat, and I linked my arm in his as we walked out. The ride to the pack was not as long as I expected it to be. We were there in about an hour or so. And was I expecting the grand reception we received? No. Maids and guards were all lined up at the entrance of the big mansion, at the place where our cars came to a halt. The door opened, and Vale stepped out first. Then, he helped me out, and with our arms interlinked, we walked in, with guards and maids bowing as we walked past them. “Well, if it isn’t Alpha Queen Oriane Ashwood of the Darkwater clan? You look prettier than the pictures Brianna has been sending,” A lady who bore a striking resemblance to Brianna spoke, as she kissed my cheeks, she is my mother, I presume. “It’s nice of you to finally join us,” An older version of Vale spoke. He seemed to be in his forties or so. Just how young were they when they decided to have children? He took my hand in his and brought the back of my hand to his lips, with a smile. “Come on in, the food will get cold,” Mother dearest called, and we all proceeded inside. Lunch went well; they seemed to observe etiquette, as no one said a word after the food. “So darling, pardon our manners,” the mother spoke again, wiping her mouth with a napkin, “I am Luna Ivy, and my darling husband,” she rubbed his hand fondly, “Alpha Hamilton of Moon Clan, your new home,” she added, and I gulped hard. “Hope this young man didn’t have you go through the stress of packing too much?” she went on, taking a sip from her glass of wine. “What do you mean by packing?” My eyes darted from Vale to Brianna and back, my brows furrowed. Then occasionally it glanced at the young man who was on the table, but hadn’t said a word since, though I could occasionally feel his lovely eyes on me, when no one was watching. “They didn’t tell you?” Alpha Hamilton chipped in, “You’ll be moving in with us for the meantime until the ritual rites are completed.” I arched my brows in confusion, shock boldly written on my face, as I had not a single clue what was going on. “Wh.. what rites?” I stammered, looking round the table for help from anyone at all. “Well, your wedding rites, of course,” Luna Ivy tilted her head sideways. “I…” Whatever I was about to say was interrupted by the screeching of a chair and hissing. The guy had stood up, he was seething with rage as his fist connected with the table before storming out of the dining hall. “Valentino!!!” Alpha Hamilton yelled after him, but he paid no heed to it, as he didn’t even spare any of us one last glance. “Forgive him, please,” Luna Ivy cleared her throat and feigned a smile. She was clearly a master of her emotions. “He’s clearly not in a good mood today. Brianna, be a darling and show her to her room, please.” She glanced at Brianna, who simply nodded and got up. She led the way, and I followed closely behind. > I stepped out from the bathroom, with my towel tied firmly around my waist and on my head. To see a beautiful ball gown on a mannequin. With maids bustling around keeping my things in place, all of it was a bit overwhelming, considering what I had been through the past month. The month was used to teach all I needed to know about being a werewolf, my duty, I learnt about my people, then the rites began, where we smoked the blue calmus weed, and were asked to divulge all our secrets and become one, not like I had any. And from what Valentino told me, this marriage was a means for power. I had a unique ability, and by marrying their Alpha, I could share that unique ability with the whole pack. The question of the day now was, what exactly is this unique ability? I just stared blankly as the maids dressed me and dolled me up for my big day. It had become a normal thing; I can’t remember the last time I attempted to get dressed on my own, and if I hadn’t intervened, Vale would have probably had them bathing me as well. The door creaked open, and I perceived the scent before I saw the person, and it brought a smile to my face. Valentino. We had grown super last during the month. He was Vale’s twin but had a way better personality than my tyrant of a mate. “Val,” my smile widened as I hugged him, and he placed a kiss on my cheek. “What are you doing here?” “Well, you have your something white, which is obviously sparkling,” he rolled his eyes and I chuckled, “Your something old; your bracelet, your something new; your bouquet, you something borrowed; Brianna’s shoes, so I thought you should have your something blue,” he dipped his hand in his pocked and brought out a box, he opened it and there it was the most beautiful blue crescent shaped necklace I had ever seen. “May I?” I nodded and turned immediately as he gently clasped the necklace on my neck. ‘This is so beautiful,” I rubbed the pendant fondly, and fanned my eyes to prevent the tears that were threatening to fall from actually falling and ruining my makeup. I had gotten so many gifts from Vale prior to this day, but none had captured my heart the way this one did. Was it the thoughtfulness? Or maybe it was the person who gave it? Somewhere in my heart, I wished it were Valentino I was getting married to. “Thank you so much,” I hugged him, and then pulled away slowly, as I stared at his face. He reached in and captured my lips in the slowest, passionate kiss ever. I let it go on for a few minutes, even though I knew I was supposed to be kicking against it. “You know you can still reject this if you want, though, right?” he asked softly as soon as he broke the kiss, his hand on my chin, the longing and want in his eyes were much evident. “Don’t,” I pushed his hand down, and turned away. “I need to go on with this.” “Why?” I inhaled deeply, “I owe you no explanation Valentino,” I spoke coldly, my back still turned on him, “That was our first and last kiss, I’m about to walk down the aisle and become a married woman, so please, whatever feelings you had for me, throw them down the drain,” I added, in a tone that surprised me for a well. He didn’t say a word, but I could still here the sound of his breathing, before I could say Jack, he pulled me back, and slammed his lips on mine fiercefully, I tried to push him away, but my strength was failing, I hit my hand on his chest in a futile attempt to make him release me, but it wasn’t working, or maybe it was just my body giving way, with time, I was kissing him back, closing every inch of space betweenus as I wanted more. He had a way of doing that to me, of playing with my senses, and leaving me defenseless. It went on till we were both breathless, we broke the kiss, and gasped for breath. “If it was the last, then it had to be worth it.” He wiped his lips and walked out. My eyes trailed his back as he left. There goes my first and second Kiss.
