CHAPTER FOUR

SOPHIE WILSON I walked into the company, the employees rushing back to what they were doing as soon as they saw me come inside. Fortunately for them, I didn't notice any flaws or maybe it was because my mind was so preoccupied with the thoughts of the waiter in that restaurant, Nathaniel. I was sure the employees were also surprised by my attitude because it was the first time I passed without noticing any of their mistakes. I opened the office door and met my father, on top of a lady. I recognized her as one of the workers in the company who was the same age as I. It wasn't a sign of r**e like other people would call it , she and my father were kissing and romancing like they were lovers. I rolled my eyes and walked into the office, the sound of my heels disturbing their little make out session. "Don't worry, you can continue. I'll just wait for you to finish, then you can attend to me", I said to him. I wasn't going to allow the nonesense they were doing spoil my mood but it did. The worker stood up immediately, bowed her head and ran out of the office. She was obviously more scared of I than my dad, they all were. My dad straightened his shirt and sat up, motioning for me to take a seat opposite him. "How did the meeting go?", he asked and I scoffed. "Really? You were bothered about the meeting that you were kissing a girl that was the same age as I was? Don't you have any shame?". "That's none of you business. I asked......", he tried to say but I cut him off. "I see. That's why you killed mum, so that you could sleep with girls who were the same age or younger than your daughter", I nagged. "Sophie! Say another word about your mother and I'll.......". "What will you do? Why? Trying to avoid the topic? Don't try to act like her death affected you when it didn't", I yelled. "SOPHIE WILSON!", he fired back. "How did the meeting go", he asked more calmly. "James Parker wants to form an alliance with me for protection", I said looking away from him. "That bastard", he cursed, standing up and pacing around his office. "I refused his offer and that's all", I admitted and he came to me. "Why? You would have accepted it. Our just lost the chance we had to bring down that motherfucker", he scolded. "Why? I thought you were smart but it turns up to you weren't. Don't you know that was also his chance you bring us down?", I fired back and he twitched his lips. "Just go, I'm done with you", he ordered and I stood up. "Don't just go about sleeping with girls in your office, it really irritates me", I said but he ignored me. With a smirk, I left the office with Sarah. ******* We got down from the car and walked to the door. We discovered that someone was in the house. In silence, we brought out guns and tiptoed into the house. There, we met him sitting on one of my sofas in the sitting room, The Real Devil himself. "What are you doing here?", I asked walking up to him and he turned his gaze to me, noticing my presence. "Hey princess", he greeted, standing up. "I said what the hell are you doing in my house, Adrian?", I yelled at him and he came to me. "Why? Can't I come visit my princess anymore", he teased, playing with a strand of my hair. I dropped his hand and walked away from him. "Get yourself out of my house", I ordered, calming myself down. "Ouch! I'm hurt. Sorry princess, you can't tell me what to do", he fired back. "Unfortunately, I can and I said get the f**k out of my bloody house". "It's been months I left, can't you welcome me without starting an argument?", he teased. "It's over between us, Adrian, accept the fact". "You're mine!", he growled, his tone sounding more serious. I knew he didn't like that topic being brought up, yet I was doing totally the opposite. "I was yours", I fired back. "Not anymore so get out of my house while I'm still asking nicely". "And if I don't?", he pressed on. "Don't forget, I'm the one with a dangerous object here", I threatened, referring to the gun in my hands and he raised his hands up in defeat, moving back. "Don't forget you're mine and nothing can change that", he declared. He pecked me in the cheeks as I clenched my jaw and left the house. "Sarah, change my password" I ordered and left for my room. *********** NATHANIEL CARTER After the reservation at the restaurant, we answered a few more customers before closing for the day. Ken and I were to attend a party tonight and he offered to pay for my drinks but I refused. My mind wasn't settled as it often wandered to that lady, The Devil. I finally got home and went into the bathroom. After taking my bath, I went into the kitchen, took two slices of bread and a cup of water and went back into the room. I switched on the TV and started watching Netflix, eating my bread slowly. "Nathaniel!", I heard someone scream my name and I jumped out of the bed. I turned to look at who was screaming my name and there, Cassie was, lying down on the bed. "Oh! Cassie, when did you get home?", I asked, returning to the bed. "Really? I've been here before you came back from work. I saw you take your bath, go into the kitchen and even started watching the movie". "Sorry, just tired. 'You know, work and stuffs'", I air quoted. "Just be careful, you were lost", she scolded and I smiled. She brought more slices of bread and we continued the movie. We watched in silence but my attention was somewhere else. "Cassie", I called out and she hummed in response, not taking her eyes away from the TV. "Have you ever heard of The Devil?", I asked and I felt her go stiff which she quickly recovered from. "Yes, why ask?". "She had a reservation at the restaurant today and Ken was telling me that she was going to be resuming with us after the summer break. I just wanted to know more about her", I replied and she sighed almost immediately. "She's a very bad person, it'll be better for you to avoid her. As long as you stay away from her and don't fall into her trapeverything is fine", she stated and I sat up. "Why? Have you ever had an encounter with her before?", I asked inquisitively. "No, but one of my friend has and trust me, the result wasn't good. Just stay away from her, she's worst than she looks", she continued. "Yes, mum", I teased and she eyed me. After the movie, we talked at length before deciding to go to bed. "Good night, Nathan". "Night, mum", I teased again and she bursted into laughter.
