Prince

271 Words
I stared at my grandmother, a woman whose eyes held the wisdom of ancient constellations, watched from their stall, a gentle smile gracing her lips. Then, a shadow fell. A man, impossibly tall with the most captivating gray orbs and the most handsome face loomed over me."Still peddling trinkets, little shade?" His voice dripped with disdain, his gaze sweeping over me with open contempt. The surrounding vendors flinched, their usual boisterous calls silenced, but Lira met his gaze, her chin lifting. "My skin is the color of night, sir," I said, my voice steady, resonating with a quiet fire. "And it carries no shame."I was beginning to hate this guy but his strong gaze made my heart leap. No Lira he just bullied you , you can't fall for him. He sneered. "Perhaps the Prince's men will teach you some respect." The word "Prince" hung in the air, a chilling revelation. This arrogant man was royalty. He barked an order, and the crowd parted as guards, clad in crimson and gold, materialized. Rough hands seized me, my grandmother's cry a desperate sound lost in the sudden chaos. They dragged me out of the market, the prince's mocking laughter echoing in my ears, a promise of an unknown fate. Wait what is happening . I tried kicking but the men were too strong . I saw my grandmother who tried to get up . "Go tell momma granny, don't worry I will be fine ," I tried to hold back my tears but they flowed freely . My hands were tied up in chains. What did I ever do to deserve this.
