ROBERT

1013 Words
The room freeze and I do too. A little. I can’t hide it. I’ve never seen a human this forward since I entered the human realm a hundred years ago. I can feel something too right from the time I entered. A pull or something. Unlike everywhere I’d went in search of my Luna; Clubs. Hotels. Concerts. Horse races. They didn’t feel this familiar. I can feel the familiarity here and somewhat of an connection. It’s my mission for coming to the human realm and I’ve been carrying it out for longer than I can remember. Though every search results into a failure. I had lost her in the year of the full moon. When those stupid elders back then accused her of barrenness and misuse of power when I was away. At there battle. At the front of the war that wanted to drive the pack to extinction. But there cared less about what I cared about most. They said she was only banished but to the deadliest forest. Where rogue wolves, bandits and wolf hunters awaited her. My beta said she would be dead but I don’t. I don’t believe that even till my death. Ariana must not die! “What?” The host. I think Dominion snaps. “What the hell are you thinking, Bianca?!” “How dare she ?” Murmur erupts and the line behind me get disorganized, everybody now surrounding us. My mind skips a little, even as though and build up I look, I can feel it. Her tiny arm curling around my neck feels warm and smooth. She looks up at me suddenly and my mind skips even more. My eyes widen at the shape of a face. A beauty that wasn’t screaming. Pure. Modest and… my type. Just Ariana’s vibe! Her eyeballs houses a deep black pupil that match his black shinny hair. Like it is perfectly tailored for each other. And for a second, the burden I’d been carrying since the day I lost Ariana feels like nothing. “What?” I mumble oddly. My voice seems shaky and a vibration runs down my spine. “What are you saying?” The way she says it again makes something erupt inside me. Slowly, like a possessed human being. “Our mate.” I then hold a deep breath. Seeking my wolf, it should have reacted now if this is truly Ariana, my mate. All I can feel is just a slow and weak connection. That shouldn’t be for a wolf as strong as I am. “No.” I mutter slowly. “No. She is not her. Not again!” I shout and the room hold it breath. Everyone goes silent. I take a deep breath. She is just a witch. A possessed human at least and the Witch might have planned this. What a stupid plan though. I pushed her away from my chest and she hit the ground hardly. Everyone gasps and I feels something. Emptiness. She tries reaching for me again but she appears weak, the voodoo on her is really strong. She hits the ground again and collapse. I look around and signal at Dominion. He rush forward. “She is possessed.” I whisper. “I can see.” He nods and signals at two men to take her away. “Can we proceed with the selection now?” He says as he blocks my path. “I’m no more interested. But you’ll have your pay.” “That’s good.” He nods. “That b***h! She nearly spoiled everything.” He whisper, not enough for me a normal human to hear. But a wolf could hear ten fold. I contact my Beta and we both leave the hall. —- We walk silently to the car park down the street. I deep my hand in the overall coat as my mind goes back to the girl. The word. Our mate. What a stupid scheme the witch came up with this time. “Robert.” My Beta. Davies calls me. It is my real name from the pack, we only add a fake surname to keep our identity. “What?” I pause and look at him, my mind still occupied with the bar incident. “I’m sorry, but I think it high time you stop the search. I also know it’s a plan from the witch, they’re trying to prey you with your weakness.” Weakness? The word echoes in my head as my eyes turns red. I look at him with a fierce look. The type I use to face my enemies at war. He gasps and draws back a bit. “SHE-IS-NEVER-A-WEAKNESS!” I shout on top of my voice. The sound traveling down the silent road. He shivers and bows quickly. “I’m sorry, my lord. I was only worried by the wellness of the pack and only trying to prevent the invasion of other packs using the power of the witches.” “Pack?” I scoffs. “They started all this and I am not going back without my Luna!” “Your Luna is already at the pack. Ariana is no more your Luna. Ariana is dead and the pack elder had prepared another Luna for you. You only need to go back for the marking.” “Nooo.” I yell. “Ariana is not dead. The soul compass said she is in the human realm and I’m not going back without her. Either you support it or not!” “I’m sorry, my lord. I’m always here by your side and devoted to anything you think is right.” I hum and let out a deep breath. “Davies, you have to promise you’ll help till I find her.” My voice caught between a plea and a command. He’d been my friend and companion since childhood but our posts in the pack separated us later. He hold my hand and rub them softly. “Robert. We must and will find Ariana. Your Luna.” I nod slowly.
