¿ACCEPT? ¿REJECT? CHAPTER FIFTEEN CARMINE POV Moving my things into the guest house I can’t help but be worried. This confirms that Missy definitely has a mate. I have my meeting with Lance tomorrow, so I won’t have to have her stay in her room, she will already be there. Lance was prompt, arriving before eleven AM. I greeted him and we made our way to my office. His visit and the fact he pushed for this so quickly has my suspicions on high. “So Carmine, I want to help you find the pack your she-wolf belongs to.” He says to me, funny he looks like he is trying, but I still get an uneasy feeling, I just don't think he really cares about helping. I need to keep a close eye on this one. “That's very kind of you Lance, but I actually have a dedicated team of warriors and guards that are attending every pack, I am sure that she must have family that would be concerned.” I continue, his face dropping slightly. “Okay, here it is. She is from my pack ‘originally’, she was charged with heinous crimes for her actions! My father and our Pack Mage sent her away, to live life as a rogue. So while she is no longer with my pack, I do care if she is hurt or something. I feel responsible!” he said, at least some of what he said was true and I have no doubt he knows more than he is letting on. “Well, Lance! I think I will keep her here for now if she was from your pack then you can advise her parents that she is here weather or not they want to collect her. What is her name?” I finished adding dryly. This guy has my hackles taking up residence on my neck my Lycan growling, thankfully, internally at the moment. I certainly don't trust him or a word that comes out of his mouth. “Well as I said before we have our own special task force to manage the packs, so if you can forward any information about her from your pack records.” I’m quickly losing my patience. Lance attempted to try and cover his ass, trying to say that she really is not to be trusted, that we will need to be careful with her around our pack members, he droned on, and on about all sorts of reasons that she should be put in a cell and forgotten about. I'm not telling this tosser anything about her, no matter what questions he asks, he is under the impression that she is totally aware of everything, he obviously doesn’t know or hasn’t realised she was badly hurt let alone her memory. The longer he was here the more I decided he had ulterior motives. I managed to take a snap of him, I will ensure to ask her if he is at all familiar. Two hours the bloody Alpha prattled on, all the while coming back to the one point about joining my guards to work through all the packs. I told him when he left that I would have my guards come and address his pack first. He cast his eyes down then he had the nerve to ask, “Is there any chance of seeing her while I am here?” I paused at his question and noticed that he looked nervous. “Sorry not hat is not possible she is working with our medical team, they are not to be disrupted at this time.” I told him. His behaviour makes me wonder what more this guy has to do with this situation. I continued to watch him for a while, I noticed he had become a little agitated, and had begun sweating. I'm not sure if it is being told No or if there is more to it. Once he was gone it gave me a chance to think back over his time here. Deciding it is time to have him watched, I mind-linked Alexander he will be my best option, being a Duo-shifter he also has the ability to be unseen, he could do some observation of him for me. Once Alexander arrived, I advised him of my requirements, I notice a grin trying to tug at the corners of his mouth. “What is it, Alex! Sighing as I asked knowing his answer will either make me furious or ecstatic. “He gulped and composed himself, then his grin won out, “Well, I have known Lance for a long time, he contacted me recently to ask me to collect information for him, he said he was concerned for the she-wolf that found herself here.” He said his smile broadening across his face. “Tell me that you didn’t give him any information!” I snapped my patience now thinner than ever. “Of course not Sire, I don’t particularly trust the Alpha Lance, so I said I would help to see what he was to ask of me, then he was here this morning. I informed him I was unable to obtain any information so he discussed me like I am a nobody around here and continued his meeting with you.” Alexander's words were clear and precise ensuring to leave no details out. “I will let you go now Alex, please keep me updated with any news. I think he may know more than he is letting on.” With a nod of his head Alex left my office and began his way to Lance's pack. * * * * * * * Given that Miss has come into her heat, I am in the guest house for a week, its strange, I didn’t realise how much have been enjoying Missy's companionship. Daphne informed me today that Missy is now able to roam freely again, but we have to keep a close eye on her, without her mate then there could be a chance of her going back into heat, and there is still the strain of her mate bond each time her mate is intimate with other she-wolves. I decided I would catch here after she has had some time outside to enjoy the sunshine and just give her a little time to herself. I will finish some work in my office first. * * * * * * * I am disturbed by a commotion downstairs, but it seems a minor commotion so I half-heartedly dismiss the noise, going back to my paperwork. Before I got too far back into my paperwork, Missy's broken voice comes through the mind-link. == Ca... arm.... mi.... ne he.... l.... lp... == I jumped over my desk and the long bench and out the door, she sounds in pain in trouble. What I see when I arrive downstairs has my blood pressure rising and my worry for Missy hitting me strong. I dont recall even taking the stairs, and when I was in-front of the scene all I could do was yell. “GABRIELL! LET HER GO! PUT HER DOWN NOW!!!”
