CHAPTER FORTY “Don’t worry dear, I’ll finish up around here and close once its time,” Mrs. Carter offered me a toothy grin and admittedly the first actual smile I had seen from her. I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that she was being so nice to me for whatever reason. It was strange and making utterly uncomfortable. “Thank you once again, Mrs. Carter,” I picked up my backpack, strung it over my shoulder with my hoodie resting on my arms.
