Forbidden Mates

“Hey, Tiff welcome to another day at work” said Bailey my bubbly co-worker and best friend.  “Ugh another slow day?” I say with a small smile on my face. “You know it! Hey! Want to go for a drink after work? I have been needing a girls night out!” Bailey says as she pouts begging me to go.  “Sure, only because I know I need one as well” I respond giving in to her.  “Yay! Okay I’ll come pick you up after work and we can get ready at my place! Have fun! Also don’t work to hard!” She yells as she walks out the door.  I laugh as she walks away. Now it’s time to start my shift. I start by going over the racks and shelves of clothes. ‘Time to fold’ I tell myself. As I’m folding and humming to the music that is playing quietly in the store I hear the small bell ring on the door.  I look up with my customer service smile and while turning to the person “Hello and welcome to...” when I see the man standing in front of me I couldn’t speak. He was the most gorgeous man I have ever seen in my 500 years of life. He was tall with short styled light brown hair, and a face that would make any man even George Clooney jealous. I could see the muscles of his body under his tight black shirt and if I traveled lower I’m sure I could see the outline of his... well you know.  “Well, um, hello. Did I catch you off guard?” He said in the most sexy voice that made my insides melt.  “Uh, yeah, no you didn’t. I’m sorry. I’m Tiffany and if you need any help please don’t hesitate to ask.” I say trying not to look into his gorgeous emerald eyes.  “Thank you, Tiffany. If I need anything you will be the first I ask.” He says with a smile that was brighter than the sun.  I walk back to the register and fiddle with things I find trying so hard not to look at this handsome man that has walked in. ‘Take control of yourself!’ I tell myself trying to calm down. When I look up again he is standing in front of me ‘OH MY GOD! He is even sexier up close!’ Now I know I need to control myself.  “Hello again Tiffany. I’d like to purchase this shirt.” He says knowing all to well what he is doing to me. “Oh okay let me ring that up for you.” I say trying not to fumble over my words.  “Wait, I’d also like to ask you if you’d be free to go get some drinks after work?” He says with a glint of mischief in his eyes. “I’d love to but I’m going out with a friend after work maybe..” I get cut off when I feel the tip of his finger brush against the back of my hand. The electricity to so strong unlike anything I have ever felt before. That was when my heart said it ‘mate’.  We looked into each others eyes, his were now glowing a beautiful emerald color. We stood there staring at each other for what felt like an eternity.  “Perfect! I will meet you and your friend tonight” he says hesitant on taking his hand away.  “Okay.” is all I can say. ‘Really Tiffany! Get it together!’  He hands me the money to pay for the shirt and as he walks out he turns around for one quick look giving her a smile she would never forget.  I stood there dumbfounded. But, why? I found my mate the one I have waited 500 years for. Yeah, I’m a virgin and was saving it for the one I am meant to be with. But something was different about him. He wasn’t a vampire his scent was so different from any vampire I’ve ever met. Now I’m on a mission to find out what exactly he is.
