Elias “How come she hasn’t come out yet?” Fox asks. The scrappy little boy who once stole Rex’s stuff, is now licking his ice-cream cone with tiny swipes, like it’s the first sweet thing the world has ever given him. “I don’t know,” I say, leaning back in my chair. “She might be running into trouble.” “Shouldn’t we just march in there?” Fox asks, eyes wide as saucers. “Louise wants to try the nice way first,” I answer with a little shrug. “If it goes south, then we go in.” “I wanna go help her right now,” Fox says. He peeks into the convenience store, then ducks back quick. I glance at him.
