Chapter Twenty

FREYA’S POV  It’s been a few days and it’s been quiet in the coven, the children are better and everyone is going about the daily day to day routine. However, that one problem has been solved doesn’t mean that the enemy won’t retaliate again. I need to understand what the ancestors mean by I’ve dug a big hole. How am I the cause of everything befalling the coven, where is my fault? The door bell dinged and I closed my journal and went to get the door. “Hermione” I said with a smile, “what brings you by?” “Just decided to pay a visit to our reagent, and I baked too” she flaunts the basket of baked goodies in my face and I paved way for her to walk in. “Aww, you shouldn’t have. Thank you very much” I collected the basket from her and placed it on the dining table. “If I know you well, I’d know that you didn’t only come here to drop a basket of baked food. So talk” I urged her as I sat on the couch. “Well, Rumors are spreading” she started as she adjusted on the couch, “what rumors?” “People are talking, they are whispering and they are getting even more scared for their lives” she continued I arched a brow and I adjusted uncomfortably on the couch, eager to hear what’s being said. “They think that maybe you don’t have a solution as regarding the council” she finished and I exhaled “What’s-what’s giving them this impression that I can’t handle stuff?”I shrugged, “The council has been around for a while now and you haven’t called a town meeting or give us a hint as to what you’re planning. The council are closing in on us, first it was Circe, then a plague. Who knows what’s next? And we both know that the council isn’t good news at all” “I’m fully aware of that, thanks for reminding me” I muttered under my breath “Look Freya this isn’t the time to get mad at the people, we need a solution and I’d help any way I can” she offered “I’m not mad Hermione, I’m just……disappointed. Why would they suddenly doubt me? we’ve taken on the council before and we can do it again. I just need a little more time to figure things out” I pushed my hair back “And how long will that take? Freya you shouldn’t be disappointed, they are just scared and scared people think about the possibilities of so many things going wrong. You can’t blame them” she defended and I sucked in my cheek “so what do you think I should do now?” I asked “Come clean. You’re a Reagent. And definitely it’s not everything you can do on your own; ask for help, from the ancestors or anyone. Let the people know that you can’t do this alone and you’ll need every support you can get. We’re a coven; we don’t judge or betray each other. No one will mock you for asking for help, just think it through please” she begged “I know that together we can figure something out, it’s the people’s right to know what’s going on and you shouldn’t keep to yourself. They deserve information too” “Fine, I’ll-I’ll call a meeting” I gave in “Thank you, I should leave now” she got up, “enjoy your food basket” “wait” I stopped her as she got to the door and I got up “do you-do” I paused and inhaled deeply, “do you think we can take on the council again?” I asked “If I know anyone who can handle this situation, it’s you. We took on the tomb vampires, the council last time and we can do it again” “you think so?” “I know so” she smiled and closed the door behind her as she walked out.   CELESTE’S POV “Monique has been acting a bit shady, call me crazy but I think there’s something up her sleeve” I said as I flipped through the pages of the Grimoire on the picnic table at the backyard in the garden “You’re just being overly suspicious since she said she wanted to release the tomb vampires, but I don’t think she’d be doing that anymore since we under the control of Morgan. I find that insulting though” Genevieve picked some dandelions and placed it in a mini basket on her arm “Hopefully she wouldn’t do something stupid, insulting?” I arched a brow, with my gaze still focused on the pages of the book “Yes, I have never been bossed around like a…..filthy play thing” she cussed,  “Easy there Genevieve, we aren’t actually being bossed around. If you look at it, Morgan and the three of us have the same objective” I shrugged and dropped the book as I leaned with both hands on the table “But we can’t handle it the way we want, we have to follow some witches order” she spat “Since when did we take orders!?” “Since when we figured our lives can be easily taken away by the same witch you’re cussing at right now Genevieve, we can’t do anything about it. we just have to play her silly game I guess” I exhaled “You’ve gone soft Celeste” she walked towards the table “what does this have to do with me?” I had a confused look plastered on my face “Not necessarily everything has to do with you but part of it does, when we came back we planned to terrorize these traitors and you were even more fired up than us. But you’ve gone soft all of a sudden, you didn’t agree to let Monique release the vampires, you’re easily submitting to false authority and you’re even suspecting Monique. Tell me what has gotten into you?” she moved closer I remained silent for a while, “I’m just saying we should approach thing more maturely” I defended “And since when have we had second thoughts before doing anything? We were alive for over 80 years in our first life and in between that time frame we dealt ruthlessly, so tell me when did we ever handle things maturely” she folded her arms. I ignored looking into her eyes and picked up the Grimoire again, “you can think whatever you want and if this is about not supporting Monique in releasing the vampires then do whatever you like” I slammed the Grimoire shut and walked back into the house, almost bumping into Monique by the backyard door. She took a quick glance between me and Genevieve, “what’s going on?” she asked “Nothing” I lied, “Oh please Celeste, cut it out. I was just telling Celeste how she has suddenly gone soft” Genevieve smirked “I don’t think now is the time to be slow about things, we need to act fast. I personally will not take orders from Morgan. I don’t know about you two” Monique shrugged “so what do you suggest we do?” Genevieve asked and I watched the both of them closely “What I should have done”   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
