THE STORM

9. Bria

Over the past 2-weeks Courtney, Candy, Bridgett, and I have become pretty good friends. I have told them about everything, I don't really know why but, I feel like I can talk to them about anything. They don't judge me. They did look sad for me when I told them about Liams anger and the abuse but, they didn't say anything. Well Candy, said she would hurt him, and Bridgett said she would help. I laughed at that.

It’s finally a Friday night. My shift is about over when, Courtney slides back from her cubical looking down at all of us. She starts talking about her plans to go up town and go cruising. Candy, and Bridgett say that they were in. I speak up asking.

what is cruising?

Courtney- “YOU, HAVE NEVER BEEN Cruising?”

Candy- “Have, you been under a rock.”

Bria- “No, I haven't been out to do much of anything in the last year, and a half, Liam never wanted to do much of anything except hang out with his friends.”

Bridgett- “well, we are changing that tonight; you are going with us.”

Bria- “I don't think Liam is going to be happy with that but, sure.”

Candy- “f**k Liam”

Bridgett- “Liam says no and, I’ll kidnap you.”

We all laugh. Candy, and Bridgett start talking about ways they can kidnap me.

Courtney- “I, will deal with Liam, I know guys like Liam.”

As awesome as that sounds, that makes me nervous.

After our shift, we walk outside together, and I already see Liam standing there by his dads' car waiting. Courtney loops her arm around mine, and we all make are way over to Liam. Before Courtney and I can say a word to Liam, Candy speaks.

Candy- “She, is going out with us tonight.”

We all look at Candy. Then turn back to Liam.

Courtney- “Tells Liam her name and, asks him if she can borrow me. For a few hours to have some girl time. She tells him that she thinks it will be a good thing for me with losing the baby and all.

Liam looks at candy like he could kill her, but she doesn't budge and gives him the same look back. (I smile)

Liam- “sighs and says fine and, asking what we are going to be doing?”

Courtney- “We will probably just go drive around and, listen to music while talking about girl shit.”

Bridgett- “I may punch a motherfucker before the nights over.”

She was talking about punching him, but Liam didn't catch her jab.

Liam- “ok, will you be able to bring her home?”

Candy- “we, will probably keep her most of the night.”

Liam gives Candy another death glare.

Bridgett- “well, we are not going to make her walk home in the dark. That would make us shitty friends.”

Courtney- “Absolutely, I will bring her home.”
