Chapter 5

906 Words
*Vance’s POV* Indigo never ceases to amaze me. I can remember like it was yesterday when the Moon Goddess came to us. She said she is a special wolf, but I didn't think it would be on Superhero level type s**t. Indigo’s wolf, Ivy, emerged when she was 8 years old. Vi and I were caught off guard. I am just glad that it happened at home and not in public. **FlashBack** “Babe, let's order takeout for dinner. I don't feel like going to the packhouse. I am done peopleing for today,” Vi says to me. I didn't mind it at all. I love spending time with her and the kids. I ordered Chinese food, we ate and watched movies. Vi was sipping on her wine and I had my Scotch neat. About an hour into watching Princess and the Frog, Indigo says, “Daddy, mom… I dont feel too good.” “What’s wrong baby? Did you eat too much?” Vi asked her while checking her pulse. “Oh My Goddess Vance, she is burning up. Baby does anything else hurt?” She asked Indigo. “My head hurts but Ivy says it will be over soon.” “Honey, who is Ivy,” I asked Indigo. “Its the voice in my head, daddy. Am I going crazy?” Indigo asked me while crying. “No, dear you are not going crazy.” I mind-linked Vi, ‘do you think it's her wolf? I mean, she’s only 8 years old.’ “Well the moon goddess said to start her training by age 7. You started with her at age 5. It is possible.’ Vi responded to me. “Honey I am going to pick you up and take you outside. You may feel better under the moonlight and cool breeze.” I picked up Indigo, Vi and Ice followed us into the back yard. I took off Indigo’s clothes. I am glad I did because as soon as her pants came off, she started shifting. All I could do was watch in amazement. She did not even cry in pain. After she shifted, I shifted into Max and rubbed my scent all over her. ‘My pup is beautiful. We must protect her.’ Max says to me. ‘Hello Ivy, I’m your dad, Max.’ ‘I know poppa, I’m glad to finally meet you. Let's play!’ Ivy said to me. Ivy and Max ran around the back yard for an hour and we shifted back to our human form. *End of FlashBack* After Indigos training, I went straight to Jai’s office. I knocked on the door. “Come in Vance,” Alpha Jai said to me. “How was training today? You only come when Indigo does something extraordinary.” “Alpha, I am not that bad, I was here yesterday and talked about border patrol.” “Yeah, yeah, yeah the boring stuff. So what's new?” I sat down in the chair in front of the Alpha’s desk and said, “take a look at this!” Alpha Jai watched the video with his mouth open and eyes bigger than frying pans. “Why did she take out Miranda first?” He says laughing and holding his stomach. “You know she always picks on Indi. I don't know what her problem is?” “I believe my son had a soft spot for Indigo. I see how he watches her. Even though he is dating Miranda, I believe Kayden really likes Indi.” “I don't think so. You and Jenni always thought they were going to be mates. Indi is too headstrong and stubborn to be Kayden’s mate,” I stated my opinion to Alpha Jai. “We will see. The mating ball is next month. Let's see how things turn out with them. It will all work out.” “Yeah, hopefully for the better.” This summer, consider sending Indigo to the palace for advanced warrior training,” Alpha Jai suggested to me. “Indigo went to warrior training at the palace last year.” “WHAT!?!? Why didn’t you tell me?” “Alpha Jai, I did and you signed off for it. She was gone for two months.” “Is that where she went? I thought she was going to visit her grandmother at Vi’s old pack.” “She did that too, it was just the last week of July and she came back the first week in August for school,” I said to Alpha Jai. “Alpha, you have a lot on your plate. It is easy to forget some things. That is why you have a team to help you out around here.” “Yeah, you guys are great. I just hope Kayden will have the same comrade when he takes over,” Alpha Jai says while watching Indigo shoot 2 arrows at a time. “I sure do hope she is mated to someone here in the pack, we need more warriors within her caliber of expertise. And to think, she is only 17. Are we still keeping her wolf a secret?” “Yes, the moon goddess said not to expose her until after the mating ball. I am thinking she is going to meet her mate then,” I say to Alpha while shaking my head. Goddess, I am not ready for that yet.
