The Lost Girl

Chapter Six - News and Clues

Meanwhile, at the Silverstone Pack House, Alpha Gary was in his office working on his papers, alone. He was cramped up with work due to the fact that he was also looking into ‘The Lost Girl’ case. His job as an Alpha is to protect his pack, train them in case of a war, provide food, shelter, and water, and making sure everyone is accounted for. Since Esmeralda is part of the pack but not officially by a blood oath, she was still considered as a member and the Alpha’s duty is to find her and bring her back home.

In comes the Alpha’s third in command, Jacob, looking at how busy Alpha Gary was at the moment, Jacob was concerned about his health. Alpha Gary hasn’t been eating well since the tragedy of their neighborly friends, the Knight Family. 

Alpha Gary took a peek at Jacob and said "any news on the lost girl?" 

Jacob responded, "not yet Alpha. We have already contact Jake's and Mary's family members but to my surprise, they had no idea about a little girl in the family, whether the child is by blood or adopted." 

The Alpha took a pause at his work and was pondering about the Knight family. He finally spoke; "do you think the Knight family was keeping the child a secret from us?"

Then at the moment, Mark the Alpha’s Beta walks in on time listening to their conversation and interfered with what he had to say; "that indeed is what I thought. We don't have a name to search well." 

The Alpha continued to wonder and said, "why a secret? I knew they were trying to have a child but many miscarriages came along and I thought they gave up." 

Looking at his Beta, Alpha Gary continued, "this child was there blessing from the Moon Goddess, but why a secret?" 

Everyone lost in thought when Beta Mark finally spoke remembering about a legend he was told by his parents when he was young, "could she be that special? According to the legends, could she be the daughter of the Moon Goddess herself we have been all waiting for after many centuries?"

Alpha Gary and Jacob had a funny look on their faces, Jacob spoke, "impossible. We should have detected her arrival if it were true. And plus, she’s only a child who probably doesn’t know who she is, a werewolf-like us." 

Alpha Gary interrupted Jacob before he continued, "she's only a child right now. Her wolf will appear by 16, and then we can be able to detect her arrival as the daughter of the Moon Goddess. But also it will not make sense because if the legends are true, this child was born with her wolf and her aurora should have been detected long ago. Special or not, only the time will tell when her wolf appears." After taking a brief pause of their conversation, Jacob spoke up with a happy grin on his face. 

"Now we have a clue to look out for. Look for a small white wolf with a star shape on her left eye. If what was said about the legend, we should be on the lookout. It should work," said Third in Command Jacob. 

Mark responded, "but how do we know if the wolf appeared to her yet?" 

Alpha stopped them both from saying another word by saying; "I think it’s a greater advantage to get ahead with this clue. Mind links the trackers and let them know about this clue. They should know about the legend and what to look after." Both guys looking at their Alpha and agreed to his proposal. 

"Yes Alpha", said Beta Mark. 

"Right on it," followed Jacob while both started to head out of the office to prepare for the search.

While Mark and Jacob's mind links the trackers on their way out, the phone rang in the office. 

Alpha Gary picks up the phone and says, "this is Alpha Gary of the Silverstone Pack, how may I help you? "

Then the person on the other line responded "good day, Alpha Gary. This is Tony Garcia, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. I just heard the news about the Knight family.  It is such a tragedy. And a child, I was unaware of a little girl." 

Alpha Gary right away mentioned about the Knight family daughter, "yes, a five-year-old child. She is the same age as my son, Ash. We were also surprised by the news." 

Then Tony continue to talk, "has she been found? We have been experiencing Rogues attack lately and they keep trespassing our territory lately. Just recently they were chasing a small tiny white wolf or fox. It is so hard to tell. She ran so fast."

Hearing the news of a small white wolf, Alpha Gary interrupted and asked, "did you say a small white wolf?"

Alpha Tony continued, "yes. She was too fast for them. We ran after the Rogues and scared them away. But we had no idea in what direction the white wolf left to. She did not leave a scent behind."

Excitedly, Alpha Gary stated that it was her. The white wolf is the lost girl they are looking for. "She’s the Knight Family's child. How long ago did this happen," asked Alpha Gary? 

Alpha Tony responded, "about two hours ago. Is it true about the legend then? I was thinking it was just a fox, but a werewolf? The legends must be real then." 

Alpha Gary took a big breath and released it by saying, "yes Alpha Tony, the legends are real. We must find her before the Rogues get to her. She will be the next Werewolf Queen to rule all werewolves and stop many wars from happening. She is lost and I don't think she knows her way back to us. We must let other packs know about this and keep their eye out for a small white wolf." 

Before Alpha Tony was close to ending his call, he responded, "we will be on alert and I'll make some calls. Do we have a name?" 

Then Alpha Gary said, "no, not yet. But I'll send someone to find some clues at the Knights House right now." 

Alpha Tony’s last response was; "very good then. I'll send out my best trackers to track her done also. I shall leave you. Goodbye Alpha Gary. Until then." 

Alpha Gary concluded, "thank you.  Hopefully, we will have some great news. Goodbye." They both ended the call.

After hearing the conversations between Alpha Gary and Alpha Tony on the phone on speakerphone, once the phone has ended, Beta Mark walked back into the office and gave Alpha Gary that looks ‘so what’s next’ and Alpha Gary was pondering on what to do next. Beta Mark finally spoke up drawing Alpha Gary’s attention. 

"So her wolf appeared. That should be easier to look for," said Beta Mark. 

In came Jacob and said, "not a scent which is perfect to hide from predators, especially Rogues but how are we going to know her scent now?" Everyone stopped, including Beta Mark, for a moment to think. Beta Mark thought about how they are going to figure out what her scent smells like, and then Alpha Gary spoke with an idea. 

"Jacob and Mark, I need you both to find out the little girl’s name at the Knight house. Also, see if you can get the scent of the little girl. More clues will help us now," said Alpha Gary. 

Jacob moved his head up and down in agreement and said, "I'll head over right now." Then Beta Mark agreed and walked out with Jacob. Both Jacob and Mark walked away making their way to the garage after they heard Alpha Gary thanking them from behind. With hopes, Mark and Jacob exited the office and off they go to the Knight's house. It took five miles to arrive at the Knight's house in their car. The Knight’s house was hidden away from society and both Mark and Jacob were shocked to see the beauty of this place. 

"Wow, talk about being hidden away from society. The Knight family clearly kept the child hidden from all of us. If the child was trying to go back home, I bet she will never find her home," said Third in Command Jacob.

They parked the car in front of the Knight's house. Both got out of the vehicle at the same time and took in their surrounding with awe. The Knight's home was a beautiful place to live in. They have spoiled this child so much, they can see they have a swing set, sandbox, pool house, a little race track, bowling alley, and an outdoor movie theater. It was wonderful by knowing that this family had it all but sad that Mary and Jake won’t be around anymore to watch their daughter grow up.

Once Jacob and Mark enter the home, they were surrounded by strong Lavender mixed with Rose scent. Right away they knew that scent belongs to the little girl. The scent was different compared to the parents. They started searching around and headed towards the pictures on the walls in the hallway. Then they spotted a family picture with the little girl they were looking for.

"At least we now know how she looks like in human form," said Beta Mark while taking a good glance at the family portrait. 

Then Jacob with a smile spread across his face said, "awe, she's so cute and small. Yeah with beautiful green eyes, her mate is going to be very lucky when she turns 16," said Beta Mark. Jacob agreeing, then he grabbed the family portrait and put in under his arm to carry while still looking for more clues. Jacob makes his way to the kitchen and spots some alphabetical wooden blocks on the kitchen counter. He looks closely and points it out getting Mark’s attention to look at the alphabetic blocks with the name Esmeralda spelled out. 

"That's our next clue. Esmeralda. Her name must be Esmeralda," said Beta Mark. 

Then Jacob said, "We got what we needed. Let's head back and report this right away." They both exited the house right away with the photo in hand. Happy to find more clues, they were eager to present these clues to their Alpha.
