The Lost Girl

Chapter Four - Run, Run but you can't hide

Esmeralda ran and ran for her life. She was mad, upset, and scared that she will be next. Once she has reached to a cliff and stopped, she was deciding whether to jump for her death or let herself get captured. The cliff was high. Esmeralda had no idea what to do next and know where to go. Now, what is she going to do next? The Rogues are catching up to her and now is the movement to act. 

"Oh no, there’s nowhere to go? It's too far down. But wait, there's a river. The water will do. It’s either now or never," said Esmeralda. Esmeralda jumps down the cliff into the fast-moving river. Holding in her breath, she dives into the deep cold water, tossing and turning her with force. Once she reached out of the water, she was able to breathe again. Relieved that she survived the first step, now she was afraid for the next step, the strongly flowing river. Will she survive it? The Rogues finally caught up but stopped at the cliff looking down. 

"There was no way that little girl would have made it out alive. The cliff is too far down. Do you guys see her," asked Alpha Rogue? He was worried that he might have lost his chance with her. The Rogues don't see her at all. The River was flowing to fast. Esmeralda would have been far by now without being seen if she did survive the fall. 

"No, I can’t lose her. We must find her," said Alpha Rogue. Alpha Rogue continued to search for her. 

"Let's search down the River. Move," said Alpha Rogue! Soon, Alpha Gary and his pack arrived in wolf forms growling at the Rogues before Alpha Rogue had a chance to continue with his search. 

Alpha Gary spoke, "Where is the child?" He was looking very angry at Alpha Rogue and waited for him to speak. 

Then Alpha Rogue spoke, "She's long dead by now. She jumped to her death and the river took her away. You’ll never find her, Alpha Gary." 

Angrily, Alpha Gary stared at him and said, "Why did you want her in the first place? And you don’t really know if she survived the fall or not."

Alpha Rogue laughed at him and answered his question, "That's not for me to tell and for you to never find out." 

It pissed Alpha Gary with his stupid answer and said, "Then so be it."

Alpha Gary said to his pack, "Kill them all." The Alpha makes his order and then the pack attacks and kills four out of six Rogues instantly. Cowardly, the Alpha Rogue and another runs away, while the other four stayed behind fighting to their death. The two Rogues were long gone now. 

"You can run but you can't hide. We will find you, Rogue," Alpha Gary yells out loud for them to hear knowing they are far by now but luckily the Rogue heard and responded. 

"Oh yes I can," said Alpha Rogue! The Rogue responds from far away, enough for Alpha Gary to hear.

Alpha Gary’s Beta walked up to him and said, "Alpha, the little girl scent is going down the river. I think she jumped." 

Then Jacob intervened, "That's a far fall. Hopefully, she survived it." 

All looking down the cliff into the river, Alpha Gary said, "We will keep searching for her. Meanwhile, get some warriors to get Mary's and Jake's body back to the packhouse. We have a funeral to plan."

Beta Mark responded, "Yes Alpha." 

Then Jacob also responded, "Right on it, Alpha." One of the trackers volunteered to take Mary’s body and a warrior offered to help her. They walked back to Mary’s body and the warrior in human form picked her up on put her on the trackers back while the warrior was still in wolf form. The dead Rogues got piled up and were burnt into ashes. Then they all headed back to take to carry him to the packhouse.

Once they have arrived at the packhouse, Alpha Gary announced, "We must notify all their family members," towards Beta Mark and his third in command Jacob. 

"Yes Alpha," said Beta Mark. Then Alpha Gary asked the trackers to find the little girl and report back once they have any news. 

"Trackers off you go. Find the little girl and report back once you hear from anything," said Alpha Gary.

Two trackers were enough to go on this mission and said, "Yes Alpha. Will do." 

While the other tracker said, "Right, let’s go." 

Then a warrior offered to help out too, "I will help too." 

They all shook their heads in the agreement and Alpha Gary ended with, "Off we go." The three took off in search of the little girl while Alpha Gary was preparing to inform others about the tragic day.

*Flashback* Alpha Gary’s Past

“Hey dad, why is Rogue being banished? What did he do this time,” asked Gary McKenzie who was a friend with Rogue Anderson at the time when they were young. Rogue, Dale, and Gary used to be best buddies until Alpha Leo McKenzie prohibited his son to be friends with Rogue and Dale. They were troublemakers and a bad influence on Gary at the time. Alpha Leo didn’t want his son, Gary to get caught with all the bad habits from those boys.  Rogue Anderson was the worst and Alpha Leo banished him from his pack and his friend Dale left with him. They wanted Gary to tag along but didn’t.

“Son, I already told you I don’t want you being seen around them. Rogue has crossed the line and I don’t need to explain about every action he had done to this pack. He killed the Luna of this pack, your mother. Let us not forget that, son,” said Alpha Leo.

“But Dad, Rogue did not kill mother. I was there when it happened. It was an accident, dad,” said Gary.

“What’s done is done. Go to your room now and let this go. They are gone, your mother is gone and now we have to prepare you for your Alpha title. Let us not discuss about this again,” said Alpha Leo.
