A group of six elegant knights on their horses rushed through the west entrance of the White Forest. Kael was leading the five grand knights he brought with him. He actually planned to bring all of the grand knights from the capital but unfortunately, some of them had emergency cases to attend to.
Earlier when they were still on their way to the forest, Kael saw a red beam of light that came out in the middle of the forest and pierced through the skies. He knew that that was the signal from Ryia that she just captured their target. They began picking up their pace.
“You three, find Dain and back him up. He must’ve found their hideout already,” Kael commanded the grand knights behind him while riding their horses. “Simon and Troy, you two come with me to find Ryia.”
The grand knights nodded in response and then three of them started to split from the group. Kael was only wearing his sky-blue cloak right now. He did not equip his golden armor since he wanted to move lightly and easily as he rushed through towards his enemies.
It was still noon but the thick branches from the tall trees have completely covered the light from the skies. The darkness of the forest never changes during the day and it becomes even much darker during the night.
Kael’s black hair was now uncovered by the hood of his cloak because of the cold wind blowing against them. I can’t fail now. Kael thought as he sharply looked ahead at their direction.
A few minutes later, they already encountered wild beasts ahead. It was a group of white gorillas from a distance and saw them. They began to charge to the knights with their strong arms and legs.
“Leave these little fries to me,” Kael told his grand knights as he pulled his long blue sword. “They’re just mere toys in my sight,” he smirked.
With his immense power and strength, he easily wiped out any beasts who dared to stand in his way. Those beasts didn’t even hold him off for a second. They were instantly slain, experiencing the wrath of a divine knight.
“There she is,” Kael said as he finally saw Ryia on her blue cloak standing in front of a huge tree.
The red-haired woman bowed his head a little as Kael stopped his horse.
“Where’s the kid?” Kael asked after jumping off from his horse.
“He’s with another young warrior, Sir Kael,” Ryia replied. “But I managed to seal them in another dimension called the Outland.”
“You did what?” Kael looked at her in furrowed brows. He rubbed his face using his palms. “Ryia, I need that blue-eyed kid alive.”
“Don’t worry, Sir Kael. There’s only one portal they could use there to get back here. And I’m sure his friend knew it since he’s from that place too,” Ryia’s lips formed a smile.
“What are you implying?”
“The young warrior with him is a half-demon,”
Kael’s eyebrows rose. “That’s impossible. How could a demon be freely walking here in the land of Earthos?” he massaged his temples. “Lucas has gone mad. Did he just raise a f*****g monster in the human world?”
“We’ll have our answers once they come back here in this spot,” Ryia replied as she pointed in the red circular mark on the snow surface. Inside the circle was a six pointed star.
Kael went towards the red mark and observed it. “How are you sure they’re coming back?”
“If they did die in that wasted land, then that would be it,”
“Ryia,” Kael warned him with a sudden rise of volume on his voice.
“But I know they’ll make it, Sir Kael. That demon kid does have something up in his sleeves,” Ryia said.
“Then we’ll have to guard this spot here,” Kael looked at the two grand knights. Then he turned back to the woman. “How’s Dain doing?”
“He might be dealing with the rest of the team now,” Ryia rubbed her chin. “He has this under control, Sir Kael. Don’t worry.”
“But still he might need some hand,” Kael walked back to his horse. “I’ll go and check on him. You two stay here and watch the mark in case it opens,” he told his knights. “I’m telling you once again. I want that blue-eyed kid alive, you hear me?”
“Yes, Sir Kael,” Grand Knight Simon replied.
Kael now rode his horse and began to run towards the depth of the forest. He never sensed anything strange in the forest, and that’s not good. It seemed like no fight happened. The rebel guild might have escaped or Dain might be in trouble.
It took him almost two hours of wandering on the vast forest until he found a huge tree house. He also saw the horses below that belong from his grand knights earlier. He jumped off to the snowy ground and looked up at the big wooden house. He saw a blue flag on the door with a symbol of a six pointed star. He knew that this was indeed the hideout of the Forgotten Winter.
Kael climbed up the wooden staircases and went inside the house cautiously. He immediately saw Dain who was already walking through the hall.
“Where are they?” Kael asked him as he looked around.
“No one’s here when I arrived, Sir Kael,” Dain replied.
Kael closed his eyes and let out a huge breath.
“Are you sure this is their hideout?” one of Kael’s grand knights asked Dain
“Yes. The things they left here were proof,” Dain said.
Kael muttered a curse while shaking his head out of frustration. “They got away again.”
“They might’ve had a scout in the west entrance of White Forest, Sir Kael,” Dain told him. “They probably knew we were coming.”
“What’s left in here?”
“Some food, weapons, books, and clothing,” Dain shrugged. “I also found something,” he walked towards the hall and opened a door. Kael followed him inside.
He stepped into the small room space. It seemed like a room of one of the members here.
“I believe this is from the kid you’ve been looking for,” Dain handed Kael a journal. “This might help you in some way.”
“There’s no need. I already have him,” Kael replied. “But I’ll keep this just in case. Nothing else? What about the other rooms?”
“All of their things were already gone, Sir Kael. This is the only room that has some properties left,”
Kael suddenly turned to him in a confused look. “This is the only one untouched?”
“Ye-
“s**t,” Kael muttered and now walked outside of the room while holding the journal.
“Burn this house and everything with it when you’re done with your investigation,” he told the grand knight outside the room. “Dain come with me now.”
“Are we gonna chase them?”
“No. I have a hunch to where they’re headed,” Kael quickly walked through the halls towards the main door.
“Where?”
“They’re coming for their other two members,” Kael replied. “Ryia is in trouble.”
