Chapter 4

1217 Words
I spin on my heels and race as quick as I can to my sister Calia’s chamber. Stopping in front of her locked door, I knock and pray she’s not busy. She swings the door wide with a grin, but then she sees me and her smile changes into a frown. What the hell do you need, little sister, she’s sneers. Fa Father sent me, so you can help me uh get ready for uh um Dragon King Asher I say miserably, stutter out making him chuckle. Good, we finally can get rid of you once and for all come in and hurry up. We hardly have a few hours to prepare you somewhat presentable. Walking in her room slowly, she grasps my palm and yanks me to her wardrobe. Stand there and don’t leave, she declares. Rummaging through her closets she throws gowns everywhere holding them up to me one at a time saying nah, Nadia, nope, ahh no oh this one is perfect she eventually says after a half an hour. Go to my bathroom and don’t change anything, try this on and com right back. Stepping into her enormous bathroom with the gown in hand, I examine it, it’s lovely I’m amazed she even let me use it. The gown is a dark army green color mermaid style with a slit running down the right side with army green arm cuffs to match. I put the dress on, and it’s more beautiful the dress goes to my feet and hugs me like a glove in all the correct places, pushing my breasts up to the perfect spot. The slit comes up to my hip on the right a little too far, if you ask me, but I want to avoid arguing with Calia about it. I placed the arm cuffs in, and I’m grateful that they covered my scars from all the years of abuse. After I have the dress and cuffs on, I run back out to Calia’s room, and she actually gives me a grin. I just stand there because I’m nervous Calia says, wow you look good I’ve amazed myself. Come sit down here at the vanity, so I can do your hair and makeup. She starts by straightening my long hair; it runs down to my mid back. Calia is everything but easy, but I won’t object, so she won’t scorch me with the straightener then she takes half of my hair in the back and puts it in a French braid and I whimper because it hurts. Satisfied with my hair, she moves onto makeup. I just rest there waiting patiently as Calia goes back into her wardrobe and grabs a vast box, setting it on the vanity she continues working through it till she encounters what she desires. Ah! There they are, she claims, and gets out black mascara, black eyeliner, Smokey colored eye shadow and pastel pink lipstick. I’m growing more uneasy as she moves the items to my face, and I jerk away a bit. Athena, you have to remain still, or I’m going to poke your eye out with the pencil she replied. That causes me to stay stiff as a board until she is satisfied. Calia does the finishing details and swipes the lipstick over my full lips. After 3 hours of getting ready Calia says, ah we are done. Stand up over there in front of my hanging mirror, so you can look at yourself. Standing in front of the mirror I’m speechless I don’t think I’ve ever seen myself so beautiful before the dress fits me perfectly, the makeup looks gorgeous, not too much not too limited. The eyes shadow brings out my green eyes and causes them to shimmer. Calia hands me a pair of army green colored heels to finish the look. Slipping the pumps on, I’m officially ready to greet the dragon King. I won’t lie I have so many emotions racing through my mind right now I’m nervous, intimidated, joyful, sad, you name it, and I’m going through it. Calia and I exit her chamber and climb to the second floor, where our father's room is established. Walking up the spiral steps we move by several rooms I’ve been here for seventeen years and yet don’t experience what’s behind them. Stopping in front of our dad's room I bounce on the heels of my feet not knowing what to require as I step in. I slowly ball my palm to a fist, raising it to knock on the door because I know better than to just run in. I did that already when I was about 8, and I took a beating for disrupting my dad I couldn’t sit for a week after that. I tap once, then twice and thrice and the door swings open with my father frowning at me. He grips my arm roughly and yanks me into his office. You're late, you foolish girl, he tells me, driving me visibly shake in fear of him. A girl shouldn’t be terrified of her father ever, he’s expected to be her first love, not her first heartbreak and villain, but that’s what mine is, and I can’t change that. Catching my stability, so I don’t land on the floor because of my parent when I’m stable, I glance up and see Ezra, Mother, Calia and suddenly, my eyes settle on the Dragon King and I freeze. Our eyes lock, and I can’t help but stare. He has the most magnificent eyes I’ve ever witnessed. He has ocean blue eyes that twinkle, high check bone, a stubble on his chin, black hair that leads to his shoulders I had the itch to walk over to him just to touch his hair, but I restrain myself from doing so because that would be unnatural. Asher stands at 6’6 a giant compared to myself only standing at 5’4, and he has the most perfectly tanned skin with a perfectly shaped frame with just the appropriate amount of muscle. Growling Asher the Dragon King said do you like what you see love because here soon your father will hand you over to me. The way he expressed that caused me to shudder in a not so pleasant way, putting my face down because I felt my checks turning bright crimson and I don’t acknowledge him. He reaches over tilting my chin up saying when I ask you a question you answer me do I establish myself clear or no? I don’t enjoy repeating myself! Ye yes sir, I mean King Asher! He throws me an attractive grin and states was that so hard, my little Athena and you may call me Asher since you will soon become my bride and bare an heir. Oh! Okay Asher, I spoke, still quivering a bit.
