“Hey, you’re okay. We’re here to help.”

They looked at me then stood up.

“What’s your name?”

“My names Tori. What about all of you?”

“Im Serina, this is Keven, Kylee, and Mackie.”

Keven and Kylee were obviously twins and Mackie was a skinny girl. I walked them outside and helped them onto my horse. We kept walking through the town and going a lot more food, materials, and clothes. We started going back towards the town when one of the girls started freaking out. I turned around and saw a creature running towards us.

I walked towards it and pulled my gun out. It stopped in front of me and looked at me sideways. It started backing up and sprinted away while looking back at me. I walked up to the group and we were all confused.

“What was that?”

“I have no idea. I was going to kill it but it started running away from me. It’s probably scared of our guns.”

They nodded their heads and we kept walking. I walked over to Kyree.

“Hey, they need somewhere to sleep and food to eat. Can you take them to our place?”

“Of course.”

The kids looked at me and I smiled.

“It’s okay, I trust him completely. He’s going to make sure that you get everything that you need.”

“Where are you going?”

“I have to go help other people. I’ll be back in a few days.”

They nodded their heads then gave me a hug. Kyree walked them to our house and looked back at me before going inside. He shook his head then speed walked to me. He kissed me passionately before pulling away.

“Come back to me.”

“I will.”

He helped me onto the horse and held onto my hand while we talked to everyone.

“We have a duty to protect each other and others. If someone shows up, you let them in. The first thing you do before you do that is ask them to speak. The creatures can shift but cannot talk. Once they have spoken, let them in and help them. We will be back in a few days.”

We went to the gate and left. We were trotting down the road just looking for anything that we had missed.

“Hey Tori. Where are we going?”

“Anywhere. I want to go back to Bradley and try finding as many people as we can. I also want to look for our families.”

They agreed with the plan so we just went casually to the highway. We saw a group of people walking and they looked exhausted. I made them stay back and slowly got off of my horse. I walked up to them.

“Can each of you speak?”

“Yes, I’m sorry, we are just tired.”

“Same here.”

“Yeah, didn’t mean to scare you.”

“Do you have water?”

I nodded my head and handed each of them a water to drink. Once they drank those, I handed them each another one and something to eat.

“We are heading to town to try to find more people. If you follow the arrows you’ll find a town that we have barricaded. They are going to ask you a few questions but you’ll be safe there.”

They looked at each other.

“We have running water and housing. We are in the process of building it up so it’s not all set in stone.”

“Wait, you’re being serious?”

“Of course. Just follow the arrows and they will give you somewhere to sleep and assign you jobs.”

They agreed to work and started walking to the town. We kept going towards Bradley and once we got there, I couldn’t recognize it. We started trotting through the area and once I saw my brother's friends, I got excited.

“Kaden? Issac? JT?”

They turned and shouted at the same time, “Tori!”

They started running towards me and I got off of my horse. They basically tackled me because of how happy they were.

“Where is Hunter and Nick?”

“I have no clue. They separated from us but we have been following your notes that you’ve been leaving for us.”

I started smiling.

“We have a town that we are using to keep our people safe. We are going to head back in a few days but for now we need to look for Hunter and Nick and find other people to take back.”

“Okay.”

They agreed and we all started going to the center of town. We went through some stores and got a lot of other things that we needed. We tied the horses up and let them take a break while we ate something. While we ate they told me about everything that they’ve been doing.

“What about you guys?”

“Well there was a creature that got scared of Tori and took off.”

They looked at each other then me.

“Not exactly. It got scared of my gun.”

“Tori, it didn’t even look at the gun. It stared you in the eyes for a second and took off running away from you.”

I sighed. We kept eating and took shifts watching over everyone and everything while others slept. When the sun came up, we all got up and started packing our things up. We started walking through the town and found more people. I let some people ride my horse so they didn’t have to worry about walking anymore because I knew that they were tired.

We walked for hours then got a large amount of supplies and a ton of people.

“It’s out last day out here Tori.”

Lana looked at me then smiled.

“I know. I can’t wait to get back and show them everything.”

“I bet.”

We chuckled. Chris came over.

“I bet she’s more excited to see Kyree again.”

I blushed.

“It’s nothing.”

“Nothing? That kiss did not look like it was nothing.”

We all started laughing. I walked around and made sure that everyone had the things that they needed. I took the first shift with Lana and Micheal. We just talked for hours before it was time to change shifts. I laid down next to Kaden and JT because they are always warm. JT woke up when I laid down.

“I didn’t mean to wake you up.”

“It’s okay. I’m just worried about Hunter and Nick.”

“I am too. But if they are following the arrows like you said, they’ll find us.”

“How are you so sure?”

“It’s Hunter. He always finds his way back to me.”

He nodded his head and we laid down. I fell asleep and I felt everyone’s calmness. We were all okay and that made me feel better. As soon as the sun came up, I woke everyone up and made sure that we all ate something before heading back to the town. We were walking and had the horses carry most of the supplies with how much there was.

We walked for a few hours before I decided that we needed to sit down. We sat down and ate while talking. We sat down for around thirty minutes then we started gathering our things and went back to walking. I kept marking the road so it was easier for other people to find us too. We were down the road from the town when I saw the gate doors open.

Kyree was standing there so I handed my bag to Lana and Kyree sprinted towards us. He picked me up and held me closely.

“I’m back baby. I’m back.”

He held me even closer and we stood there for a while. They tested each of us and once we were all inside, I looked around. Everyone looked so much healthier and happier. We brought everything inside the walls, Kyree started asking me questions.

“Are you hungry? Why don’t we go back to our house and you can eat and get some sleep. You can worry about everything else later.”

I nodded my head and called over the boys.

“Kyree, this is Kaden, Issac, and JT. These are my brother's best friends. Guys, this is Kyree.”

They all greeted each other then we walked back to the house. We were walking in when I saw someone move to the kitchen.

“Ky, who’s here?”

I looked at him and all he could do was smile. I walked to the kitchen and saw my brother and Nick standing there eating. Hunter dropped his food and wrapped me up in a bear hug. I started sobbing and all he could do was cry with me.

“I knew you were okay. I knew it.”

“I know Tori. Everyone told me.”

I stood there for a minute then looked at Kyree and saw the huge smile he had on his face. I let go of my brother and Kyree made some food for me. Once I was done eating, he walked me to our room and once the door was shut, he let out a long breath.

“I’m okay baby.”

He pulled me into him again and we just stood there for a few minutes. He finally let me go and stared into my eyes.

“You’re not leaving.”

“I promise you, I won’t leave.”

He kissed me passionately and pressed me against the wall. He held my face in his hands while I tried pulling him closer. I moved one of his hands to my throat and he got the idea of what I wanted. He kissed my cheek and started going down.

“Wait.”

He stopped then looked at me.

“Did I do something wrong?”

“No, you didn’t. I just really need a shower.”

He chuckled then kissed me again. I went into the bathroom and took a deep breath. I started the water and just stared at myself in the mirror. I had bruises and cuts all over my body from everything that we’ve done. I got in the shower and started scrubbing my body. I shaved every inch of my body then started washing my hair.

Once I was done, I got out and threw on a shirt and a pair of shorts. I walked out and Kyree was already laying on the bed. I got on the bed then crawled so I was sitting on his lap. I smirked then he rested his hands on my hips. He started running them under my shirt and pulled me down so we were kissing.

“Good morning Miss Tori.”

“Good morning bug. Did you sleep better?”

“I did.”

“Good. Now get to your room and start getting ready or the day, okay?”

She nodded her head then took off. I got up and went through my clothes. I put on a pair of sweats and one of Kyrees shirts. I walked downstairs and I saw my brother and Kyree in the kitchen cooking breakfast for everyone. Once they noticed me standing there, Kyree made me a plate and Hunter gave me a cup of coffee.

I walked to the dining room and I saw several people sitting there waiting to eat. I went to sit at a random seat but I got told to stand back up.

“You don't sit there.”

“Where do I sit then?”

“The head of the table.”

He pointed at the seat then I sat down. Once everyone had their food, we started eating breakfast. Kyree sat to my right and Hunter sat at my left. Once breakfast was over, some of the kids decided that they wanted to clean up after everyone. I went back to my room and brushed my teeth.

While I was in there, Kyree came in and did the same thing.

“What’re your plans for today?”

“Make sure that we gathered enough materials that will last us and check to see what progress they have made with the garden.”

“Okay. I’ll make sure that we have enough ammunition to last us a while and get started with the combat training.”

“That sounds perfect. Once I’m done, I’m going to come check and see what all you guys are training for.”

“That’s fine baby.”

I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at him.

“Did you just-”

“Yes I did.”

He kissed me then put his brush down and walked away. I finished brushing my teeth then put my hair up in a low ponytail. I walked downstairs and put my shoes on. I walked outside to see that everyone was already doing something. I walked over to the wall and checked up on them.

“You all have sunscreen and water, right?”

“Yes boss, we each have a can of it and a case of water.”

I nodded my head then walked away. I started walking around the town and made sure that things were being taken care of. I went to the blacksmith shop and saw that there was a crew working on making more ammunition and other things that needed to be made for the wall. I went to walk out then I saw Kyree standing there with a girl and they looked very close.

I went behind the wall and watched them for a few moments. She started giggling at something that he had said then I saw her move his hand to her waist. I looked down then looked back up and saw that he had removed his hand from and looked a little upset with her. I walked out of the building and started walking back to the house. I went up to our room and sat on the bed trying to register what I had seen. I got up and grabbed a bag and threw it on the floor. I opened the door and shouted.

“Someone get me Kyree. Now.”

I slammed the door shut then I heard someone running then the door shut. A few minutes later I heard the door open then someone running to the room. There was a knock at the door. Kyree walked in and saw the bag on the floor.

“What’s-”

“You have two minutes to tell me what the hell happened at the shop before I pack your things up and throw you out.”

“Baby, sit down. Please. I will tell you everything that you want to know.”

I sat down and took a breath. He sat down next to me and tried to hold my hand.

“Look, I was teaching Serina how to make bullets. She said that she wanted to thank me and I took that literally. So she took me to a separate part of the building because she said that she wanted to talk in private about something else. She went to make a move and I pulled away and let her know that I wanted you.”

I scoffed.

“If you don’t believe me, ask her. I rejected her and went back to helping people weld bullets and metal together. That's when one of the little girls ran in and got me.”

I nodded my head. He got on his knees and sat in front of me. He grabbed my face in his hands.

“I want you and only you, Tori. You are the strongest and smartest woman that I know and I would never try to ruin that or what we have. You are amazing and I only want you.”

A tear streamed out of my eye so he pulled my face closer to his and kissed my cheek softly. He scooted me back on the bed and he wrapped his arms around me. He pulled me onto his lap and rubbed my hips while we laid there. We laid there for a while of him just rubbing my hips and back for me to try to get me to sleep. I finally drifted asleep while I was lying in his arms. His breathing changed to a slower pace and was calm and at peace.

I woke up on my side of the bed with Kyrees’ arms wrapped around me. I laid there for a while before rolling over and resting my head on his chest. I nuzzled my face into his neck and just inhaled his smell. I finally got up and got in the shower. I stood there for a while just letting the water run while it was heating up then Kyree came in.

“You okay?”

“Yeah, I need to take a shower.”

He nodded his head then took his shirt off. He started taking his clothes and I just sat there staring at him. He chuckled when he noticed then tilted my chin up to look at him.

“You ready for that shower mamas?”
