----- Raina's pov -----
I was enjoying my blueberry pancakes with the pack when I smelled twelve werewolves approaching. I could not help but react subtlety with disgust to the scent when Accalia interrupted my thoughts.
'O-oooh.. I smell trouble. And bad colognes coming our way.. Don't throw up!'
I smiled as I heard Accalia's comment. I knew that with a comment like that, she already proved her disapproval towards those about to enter. Accalia was a proud wolf and sometimes she would irritate me by disapproving others for no reason. I learned the hard way to always double check my words before talking, something that Accalia never did. Don't get me wrong. I love my wolf and how honest she is, but sometimes? She is way straight-forward for our own good.
The dining room's doors opened, and I saw Conan looking straight at me. I placed my head on my left arm and waited for Conan's introduction, even if I already knew the pack that entered the room. The smell of burnt wood, cheap cologne and sweat filled my nostrils. I grew up with this disgusting smell and I hated every single face that I was observing now.
'Everyone, your attention. Please welcome the Midnight pack and their Alpha Rollin.' Conan coldly announced without moving his eyes from my face.
'Behave accordingly' I heard Hyde saying with a warning tone in case anyone dared to talk sarcastically. He walked past them as he took his seat on the table.
The pack was in an uproar. They still remember when they helped the Midnight pack get rid a horde of rogues from when they hid in fear, not helping in protecting their own territory. Not even helping the she-wolves that were being forcefully marked and violated. The Lightclaw pack did not forget their cowardness as they fought for another pack.
'Welcome to the Lightclaw pack house. Please make yourselves comfortable and do not hesitate to eat with us. It is a pleasure to have you.' I said in a polite tone not moving my head from my arm.
I could feel the unrest from the pack when everyone started whispering to each other. I raised my right index finger towards my lips signaling them to shush down and indeed everyone stopped talking. Some stood up to give their seat next to them to the werewolves from the other pack. Alpha Rollin sat next to me on the side of the table since I was sitting on its end.
'I'm sorry for the intrusion. I was hoping to meet your Alpha face to face and not just through emails and commands.' Alpha Rollin said while bowing down. Sensing my aura and witnessing the movement of my finger while everyone calmed down, he must have thought I am the Luna of the Lightclaw pack.
'Is your mate not joining you for breakfast?' he asked confused. When Rollin looked around, he saw the Lightclaw pack trying to contain themselves not to laugh with the mentioning of my mate. 'That was so weird. Who would have known that the Lightclaw pack was this disrespectful to their own Alpha and Luna' he thought.
I sized down Alpha Rollins and understood his confusion. This was a matter that my pack should take seriously.
'We cannot have a pack hold a grudge on us when the festival hasn't even started. That's bad for our reputation.' Accalia said. 'Do not reveal anything that is not needed' Accalia continued in my mind.
I looked at my packmates and removed my head from my hand as I straightened my back to talk.
'Please do not misunderstand us.' I said as I slowly increased my voice in order for the other packmates to listen.
As soon as words came out of my mouth the Lightclaw werewolves looked down as if they were apologizing to someone. The enormous dining room fell once again in silence. The only sound one could hear was the huge chandelier's crystals above the table ringing because a draft of wind entered the silent room. The huge white curtains slowly moved following the wind in the room. I saw Conan heading to the windows in order to close them.
'Don't close the windows please. Let them experience some of our town's coldness.' I said mind-linking the butler. Conan continued walking next to the windows but in the end, stood beside my chair where he could look the room in its entirety and smirked.
Blending beside my chair with his black clothes, he indeed looked like my shadow.
As Rollins was waiting for an answer, he could not help but feel a shiver down his spine. Was it because of the cold wind? Or was it because the girl's aura next to him begun to increase? 'Who is she and how is she able to hold such power? Only if she is the pack's Luna..' he thought, but I could read his mind and I finally answered.
'I am not the Luna of the Lightclaw pack' I said as I lowered my voice again and Rollins eyes widened. 'Our Alpha, unfortunately, is currently busy with the festival. I'm sure you will have plenty of opportunities to meet our Alpha during the festival. We were simply not informed of your arrival in our pack house.' I said and I forced a smile. Rollins was fuming with anger.
'Well, I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong' he started saying in a sarcastic tone gaining growls from all over the room, 'This is not a pleasant surprise for my pack. We expected to be greeted in a proper way and not by a schoolgirl that goes through her teenage emo-phase. What is your position exactly in the pack?' Rollin said raising one of his eyebrows. 'As far as I am concerned, white-haired werewolves are a hindrance for a pack. My pack experienced it first-hand.' Rollins recalled the maid from his pack. It's been so many years. He remembered when he was a teenage personally giving that girl a lesson in the forest next to the pack house and smirked.
The Lightclaw packmates instantly stared at Rollins and some of them even stood up and looked at him furiously. I understood their emotions, but I hoped, just for once, the pack would act smart, not impulsive, and reveal any information that could go sideways for us. I know Rollin better than anyone. I know about his despicable acts and how he ordered his pack. He was not respected, he was feared. Sooner or later, he would pay for everything. My eyes started to burn as Accalia wanted to take control and that's when I decided to answer in hopes of calming Accalia's spirit down. And everyone else.
'A school-girl that goes through her teenage emo phase, huh? That's a new one.' I laughed coldly as I repeated the Alpha's words and signaled with my hand the packmates to sit down. As one would expect, they immediately followed the order I did not even mouth.
'My name is Raina.' I said as my lip ring shined when a sun ray got through the dining's room window, 'I'm not a teenage dear Rollins and if I remember correctly, we are of the same age. But remember my words. Before the last day of the festival, you and your pack will be apologizing for expressing such a harsh opinion of me and upsetting my pack mates.'
After finishing, Conan who was by my side whispered to me about a business matter that needed my attention. I immediately stood up, without giving Rollins a chance to answer, and continued with a cold tone.
'I apologize but I must take my leave. There are some matters that the Alpha needs to resolve and my presence is required.' As I was leaving, I mind-linked Hyde.
'Be careful not to reveal anything.' Then I mind-linked the packmates in the dining room with a simple word.
'Leave.'
Everyone stood up and followed me out of the room not addressing or giving a single glance to the other pack. This was true unity.
'How can a little girl like her radiate such a strong aura? I felt her. I bowed down to her and mistaken her as the Lightclaw's Luna! Who is she? And why does the Alpha need her to resolve anything? The Lightclaw pack keeps getting more mysterious' Alpha Rollins thought. I can still read your mind Rollin. Keep being confused.
'Please have a serving of breakfast. We wouldn't like our Alpha think that we mistreated you, right?' Hyde smirked and said with a cold tone as he also left a short moment after.
Conan was the only one left and observed the pack. If he was not one of the most patient werewolves of the pack, after listening to what Rollins said to me, he would already have Rollin's heart in his palm. After some time, the pack left and gave their regards to the butler in the hopes of reaching the Alpha.
'Find everything there is to find about that girl. Whatever it takes.' Alpha Rollins said to his Beta. 'As far as I know girls with hair and aura like her are trouble.'
