A billionaire’s auction
1. “Dirty money. Underground connection. All black suits. Mysterious identity. Multiple passports.” These are the last words I would remember as I’m being decapitated, limb by limb and being buried one hundred feet under. Because I messed up with the wrong people. The wrong Billionaire. I wake up disoriented in a Billonaires’ exclusive private underground club. I flinch at the feel of the cold water pressing against my bare arm, followed by the strong smell of grease stinging my nose. I’ve almost forgotten how I got into this situation. Being bound by ropes that threatened to cut off my palms from the wrist in an awful snap. The awfully smelling sack thrown over my head that gives little space for me to breathe, threatening each time I even take a breath, to knock me into unconsciousness. If only I had listened to my mom over the phone and just stayed the night in my apartment during this cold night. I wouldn’t be laid out on this dirty floor. The sound of water dripping from somewhere above me into a pod of water just next to my elbow is for sure going to give me some PTSD if I get out of this alive. I have just been kidnapped and currently trapped in an underground prison and all I can think about is my dear cat, Oslo. He would be worried sick after waiting for me all day. Waiting for me to return from my 3p.m shift and spend the entire evening with her. Oslo had managed to keep track of my schedule for me. He knew I was on morning to afternoon shifts every Mondays to Wednesdays, and on evening shifts every Thursdays to Sundays. Working at the Billionaires Underground club has been the best thing to happen to me, and even better working night shifts. Which is why, as you already guessed, I work night shifts four days instead of three. You make good money. You make more than you expect when you need quick cash before going to spend the Christmas holidays with you family in Huston. A metal door clangs open and I stiffen in fear. “The people are ready,” the voice I’ve become familiar with over the course of eleven hours of being detained here speaks and I imagined my ears pointed out attentively to feel any movements advancing towards me “bring her to the auction room.” Auction. When arms grabs hold of me, pulling me off the floo, I had little strength left in me to fight. So I let them pull me away. “Do it.” The first voice says. “What are you going to do to me?!” I demand fearfully. The next thing I felt amidst all the struggling and fight is a sharp needle piercing into my neck. I’ve been injected. I instantly lose the power to fight, my body quickly switching into numb mode. They pull me away, whole time I’m feeling my body shutting down. I’m fighting to keep my eyes open. I’m fighting to keep breathing. I’m fighting to hold my head up. Seconds later I’m being dumped onto a much colder floor. I’m upstage. I know this before I hear noises that soon quiets down soon as I arrive. And also because I’m familiar with this floor. Being an employee here for less than four months, I guess I should know. My eyelids gets heavier by the passing seconds and soon, I feel darkness taking over me. “Gentlemen, the moment you’ve all been waiting for……” is the last audible voice I heard before blacking out. I stir in my sleep, my eyes slowly opening as I regain consciousness. But instead of meeting the darkness of the sack confinement over my head, I’m met with color. People seated in the distance. Billionaires. Filthy rich men waiting to devour me. “I counter,” a voice speaks from close to me “ ninety thousand dollars.” What? “I’ll take her for a hundred thousand dollars,” another chimes in “me and my partner could use her.” This is crazy. How can anybody be willing to pay a hundred thousand dollars for me? I understand that they’re billionaires and could take out millions from their accounts and not feel it’s absence but what I don’t understand is what they need me for. Again how did I go from just having a cold and a headache this morning to being auctioned to billionaires? Another man raises up his fan, “I will pay four hundred thousand.” I gasp in disbelief, looking up only to find a set of piercing blue eyes, and a smile on the lips of a man I knew too well. Vincent Derrière. His eyes are already on me before I looked at his, and he winks at me. I try to smile back. I feel a sudden sense of hope. There’s collective gasps coming from the crowd now. Nobody could beat that price. No one. At least not for a nobody like me. I couldn’t understand why anyone would even spare a dollar on me in the first place. “Alright! I think we have a……” the host started saying but was cut short by the sound of a gunshot from outside the doors. The whispers stops, overtaken by a loud silence. The doors busts open and he stepped in fully armed, a gun pointed upstage where I am. I’ve never seen Nikolai Wolfe look like that. His dark eyes when they fall on me and I thought I heard him mutter to himself before pulling a trigger and firing towards the man auctioning me. There’s a scream among the crowd, followed by the man in black suits situated close to him reaching for his gun. But Vincent is quick and he pulls out his gun first and fires at him. As well as the rest of the men situated at every corner of the room. The room is in a chaos now, gunshots firing across the room, billionaire men and woman screaming and running around the room, looking for safety while more guards run inside the room. Sprawled on the floor, I manage to watch as Nikolai makes it towards me, his eyes not leaving me even for a moment as he fired shuts from the two guns in his hands. It’s like he hears or feels the threats from every direction, shooting at them without needing to even look at them first. My breath is caught in my chest and I want to help the situation by getting up and hiding for my life, but I find that I haven’t regain my strength from the sedation and I’m probably also paralyzed by intense fear right now to even blink. Just as he is a few feet away from me, I see a bullet accelerating from the side. I hear the shattering sound. “Move…..” I try to warn him but it is too late. Nikolai catches the bullet at his side. But he doesn’t stop. He just turns around and shoots the shooter multiple times before running over to me. While the chaos continued behind us, his eyes holds mine in the most intense way imaginable and he brings his hand forward to hold my chin, “I own you now, love. You belong to me. I don’t know if I should be cowering in fear or blushing with the excitement I was feeling in between my legs right now. But when his hand grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him, I know it should have been the former: cower in fear. His face brushes mine gently as he whispers into my ear “you have no idea what you did, and now I have to save you.”
