Chapter 4

1001 Words
Serge is sitting on the train on his way to Geneva.  He enjoyed visiting his grandmother.  They caught up on all the gossip of the area.  He smiles to himself.  His grandmother was the one person that never failed him.  His father was a cruel sadistic narcissist, he enjoyed dealing out punishment. Being in complete control.   His mother couldn't take his father's cruelty anymore and left, leaving him alone with his father. Abandoning a ten year old boy to take punishment for something he didn't do.  His father's wrath got worse after his mother left, it was as if his father took his loss out on Serge. He watches the landscape go by and tries to think of happy times when he was a child.  The only times that come to mind are the ones he spent with his grandmother.  While they had their lunch, she told him in a gentle voice that his father is dying, he is suffering from stomach cancer and he is in excruciating pain.  Serves him right.  He doesn't want anything to do with the old man.  He deserves to die a slow and painful death. The train arrives at the train station and Serge watches as people exit the train. Serge takes his bag and gets up slowly.  He must make more time to see his grandmother, he should try and fix up her house.  He feels guilty that he wasn't able to support her for the past few years. Serge steps off the train in the Geneva airport train station in Geneva Switzerland.  His latest job is as security detail for an Albanian businessman.  Serge was appointed to protect him and the attaché case cuffed to his wrist.  He knows the businessman well, as he has done work for him before.  Serge knows that there is dirty money in the silver case that the Albanian cuffs to his wrist.  However, his job is to protect the man and not ask questions or enquire about his business dealings.  He heads to the international arrivals terminal where he will be waiting for the Albanian.  The businessman will be arriving at the exit soon.  He needs to take over the security detail and it needs to be a smooth transition. There is a trade conference tomorrow at the same hotel where the Albanian will be staying.  Top businessmen from all over the world will attend the conference.  His skills learnt from previous security details and his time spent in the French legion, proves effective in his current job as a bodyguard.  It has been a week since he left the German in the storage unit.  He grins to himself, the German deserved it, his pleading fell on deaf ears.  To think he even offered Serge money to let him go.  How pathetic, how can he not just accept his fate after what he had done.  Serge is slowly busy cleaning up the filth. People like that don't deserve a second chance. Their behavior is unacceptable , they will pay for their actions.  They will answer to the Angel of Justice. He will be in Geneva this coming week. This job pays good money and gives him the chance to see the world.  Mostly it is a dangerous job, but he has the skills and personality to be a successful bodyguard whenever it is expected from him.  He enjoys the responsibility and thrill of being entrusted to guard someone's life. While waiting for the Albanian to arrive he observes the people around him.  A young couple are reunited after a time apart and they are happy to see each other again.  The young woman runs into the man's arms and they hug each other.  He sees a woman with a baby pram waiting for someone.  She is so focused on her call she doesn't see that her baby is dropping his blanket out of his pram.  Serge smiles and walks over and picks up the blanket and gives it back to the baby, with a wink.  The woman glares at him and turns away with the baby and walks away. Serge turns around with a grin and takes up his previous position. Not far from him two young girls with backpacks stand alone and look at a map.  They look and sound like tourists from the United States .  They argue about where to go next and which bus to take.  Serge shakes his head, woman!  They can be so indecisive.   Finally the airplane arrives and he starts to observe the oncoming arrivals for Mr Bisar Gjonbalaj.  He sees him in the crowd and waves his hand at him.  Mr Gjonbalaj sees him and walks up to him.  To his left is his personal assistant Miss Currana Ciftja, he met her the previous time he worked for Bisar.  She gives him a disapproving look.  He got the impression the previous time that she doesn't care much for him.  He smiles at her and then extends his hand to shake Bisar's hand. "Serge, glad you were available" Bisar says, without any emotion.  Behind him two big built men follow.  They must be part of his entourage.  As usual the silver case is cuffed to his wrist.  He nods at Bisar. "The cars have been arranged and they should be in the parking lot,"  Bisar says and gives Serge the keys to one of the cars.  The two bulky associates will follow in a second car. As expected the black cars are both equipped with bullet proof glass and their panels are armored.  Serge doesn't ask questions, he just gets into the driver's seat and pulls out of the parking spot.  He heads to the hotel and maneuvers the car through the traffic.  While he drives he pretends not to listen to Bisar talking to his assistant.  They talk about business deals mostly and about the conference.  He keeps his eyes on the road and tries not to make eye contact with either of them in the rear view mirror.
