Midnight – Outside Adrian’s Chateau
The air was thick with tension as Liam and Mia crouched behind a stone wall overlooking the chateau. The estate was massive, its old stone exterior bathed in golden light, but the real problem was the security. Armed guards patrolled the grounds, and the main entrance was impossible to breach unnoticed.
Dain’s voice crackled in Liam’s earpiece. “Fireworks are ready. Give me the word.”
Mia’s pulse raced. “Now.”
A second later, an explosion erupted on the far side of the estate, sending flames into the night sky. Alarms blared, and the guards shouted in confusion as they rushed toward the disturbance.
Liam grabbed Mia’s hand. “Move.”
They sprinted toward the back of the estate, scaling the stone wall and landing silently in the inner courtyard.
